Known to many as home, and to many more as second home, Asheville has seen a boom in transients flocking to the area over the past 10 years. Downtown has blossomed into an active, independent scene filled with lively restaurants, pubs, clothing stores, and art galleries. There's something for everyone in Asheville, but you need to be in shape to climb those streets this is a mountain town after all! Aside from Downtown, other areas to check out in Asheville are the Montford Historic District, which is walking distance from Downtown, West Asheville, the River District, and definitely the Blue Ridge Parkway. But the majority of people tend to stick around Downtown since everything is within walking distance.
