As busy as a hive of buzzing bees . . . that's Genoa, Italy. This oceanside city, as Italy's leading port and trade center, is full of activity; its economy revolving mainly around the port. It is the capital of the region of Liguria, Italy and is dubbed "La Superba," because of its numerous marble palaces. Genoa appears to rise from the sea in magnificent glamour. Two massive towers form striking landmarks in the center of the city. The old city is a maze of winding streets and alleys. The newer parts of town are epitomized by tall modern buildings and colorful gardens and villas. A lighthouse, standing tall on the west side, is the emblem of the city. You can say Genoa is a conglomerate of businesses and activities. Food shops are tucked away inside the portals of former palaces. Carpenter's workshops are situated between name-brand outlets.
