Pamplona is the capital city of HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navarre" \o "Navarre" Navarre, Spain. It is a pleasant tourist destination warm, dry and arid to the south and cool and dry to the north. The city is very green and well cared for with cobbled streets, a well-conserved historical center, and picturesque mountain ranges of the Navarra region with some of the most original folklore in all of Spain. Three quarters of Pamplona's city walls remain as they were -- rebuilt in the sixteenth century. It is the first Spanish town on the way to Santiago, and every year thousands of pilgrims of all nationalities cross the city in a walk that finishes 30 days and 500 miles later. Pamplona is famous for the San Fermi Festival that takes place on July 7 every year. The famous "running of the bull (encierro)" takes place as one of the main attractions during this festival made famous by Ernest Hemingway in his book "The Sun Also Rises," published in 1926.
