Having enjoyed all of the many sites and activities in downtown San Antonio, visitors should consider getting out of town and taking in some of the wonderful sites located outside of the city. Those who like horses can cheer them on at Retama Horse Park. One can also cruise through the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, and swim with the whales at Sea World. Shopping enthusiasts might want to check out Alamo Quarry Market located on Basse Road off U.S. 281 or check out the Crossroads and North Star Mall located on I-410 west. For those people who would like to save some money on hotel rates, try looking beyond the city center. Affordable rooms can be had at the Hampton Inn Airport running from $74.95 to $89.95, also along or near I-410 is the Courtyard by Marriott with rooms from $99 to $115 and the Doubletree with rooms from $105 to $115. Last but not least, AmeriSuites Hotel on Jones Maltsberger, which is located near the Alamo Quarry Market, has rooms running from $99 to $114. Tourists looking to experience something a little different can visit Bawdsey Manor in Schertz for a little taste of Great Britain. Run by two British sisters, a person can enjoy famous English dishes like Shepherd’s Pie and Ploughman’s Lunch. Or for those who enjoy wine, why not check out the Niles Wine Bar located at 7319 Broadway in Lincoln Heights? Those people who may have problem with the heat may want to time their travel to San Antonio in the spring and fall months. Temperatures are particularly high during July and August reaching over ninety degrees eighty percent of the time and on rare occasions over one hundred degrees. Humidity is generally above eighty percent during the early part of the day but drops closer to fifty percent come late afternoon. A word of caution, while talking on a cell phone and moving about in any fashion out of doors can be a hazardous problem; tourists are advised to be especially careful of becoming too engrossed in a conversation on their cell phone, while walking along the Riverwalk. Pedestrian traffic along here is usually fairly heavy. If a person is not careful of where they are going, they can end up accidentally falling into the river or causing another fellow sightseer to get very wet.  « dölj
