Wonderful 1918 art noveau building,...

The building is absolutely mind-blowing. Staying adjacent to the Gellert spa is a hedonistic bonus.

The amenities & room equipment are surprisingly quite spartan. No mini bar. No wine glasses. But what really disappointed me what not being offered slippers in the room - which is especially strange given the single use ones cost literally nothing. And you are in a spa hotel. Where you are given a bathrobe, but no slippers? And you end up paying 5 eur for a pair at the spa reception.

Beautiful grand hotel, excellent location,...

The hotel is beautiful, especially from the outside. It's an architectural gem, Art Nouveau style, one of thos grand European hotels built in the early 20th century.

The room was pretty basic, it is a different world from the hotel's exterior.

Fantastic value, beautiful classic hotel, location perfect and of course the Gellert Baths. Staff was very accommodating.

Rooms are a bit outdated but great layout and clean.

Amazing breakfast and very attentive and kind staff. The spa nearby is heavenly. Very good location.

Provide instant coffee facilities in room and bedsheets could be 100% cotton.

Very nice location, near the green bridge and market. Good breakfast and friendly people.

During the summer, with 30 °C outside, there is heating in the bathroom turned on (rack for hanging towels). So, we used air conditioner for cooling the room but had heating at the same time. The room was looking at the river, above the entrance to the hotel. A man started to remove the leaves around 5:30 with a noisy fen. Even without him, it was noisy because we need to have the window open over the night.

The view from the 4th floor is great and overlooks the Danube river. The concierge was great though. He helped me tremendously in finding my way around the area.

The hotel is worn out. The painting on the outside comes off drastically. Some tiles in the bathroom were cracked as well as the wooden floor in my room on the 4th floor. The fridge was empty and the airco was a mobile unit that made so much noise, I had to turn it off. Maybe a decade ago this was a 4 star hotel, but now, to me it would at most be a 3 star hotel. The wifi is non existent (not in my room anyway).

Staff exceedingly pleasant and helpful. breakfast was fantastic. location is perfect for going places and seeing everything in the city. Even the view of the Danube and Pest from the front of the building is great. The thermal baths are just wonderful.

I could have used an additional towel since I went to the baths. The bed sagged a bit and was uncomfortable.

There was no mini fridge in room nor coffee making facilities which is normally quite standard. Also TV in room was on the same wall as bed which means you couldn't watch it

I loved the baths, people at reception were very friendly, the service at the Brasserie and coffee shops was very good. Dinner at the brasserie was delicious. Location is great for all kinds of sightseeing but mostly the hotel is beautiful too.

The bed was a little soft and the room was cold. Otherwise, everything was great.

Gellert is a wonderful historical place/hotel. I have been staying there for more than 25 years and I love it! Definitely go if you enjoy an authentic experience instead of standard hotels which you can find all over the world!

Danubius is a grand old hotel with the luxury of days past. The staff went out of the way to be helpful, and the location of the hotel was excellent , being right on the Danube, and of course the views were wonderful. Public transport was at the front door.

I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. The building itself is stunning,the staff friendly and helpful,and the rooms spacious and spotlessly clean. Both the all you can eat breakfast and the bar/resteraunt served fantastic food. All for an incredibly reasonable price.

Once, we came to a breakfast 10 minutes before closing time. First, staff didn't want to let us in. Next, when we were eating, they asked us to leave. It was terrible. Also, there were some insects in a room :(

It would have been expected that hotel guest, who have paid for an entrance to the spa, be able to leave and come back again until closing. I would really like an option to use the thermal baths during the morning, and swim in the main swimming pool closer to closing time.

Mostly everything. The staff was very nice and efficient. Our flight arrived early in the morning and the hotel accommodated us. The room had a lovely view of the Liberty Bridge over the Danube. The walk iver the bridge is invigorating and the big Budapest market is on the other end. Don't miss that. We went to the baths twice and relaxed in the thermal pools. We ate in the hotel restaurant twice and enjoyed the fixings. Yes, it was a great location for our stay in Budapest.

I couldn't get my pillow fluffed.

The building is simply fantastic. The hot bath and swimming pool are great ... you should definitely visit. Also the breakfast was very good. Comfortable bed. Very cheap for the location and for such a well known hotel.

The building is simply fantastic. Unfortunately it is not maintained as it should be. The room was spacious but the original equipment was very worn or the original one replaced by a cheap stuff. When you enter the building, you see an interesting interior, but you are welcomed also by a big hole in the carpet :) The room was not very clean. There was no soap/shampoo offered. Nuts in the minibar were open and half-eaten...

A mix of styles in a suppose once grand hotel.

The entrance to the thermal bath wasn’t very reduced. And if you wanted to go to the spa and maybe take a nap in between you had to pay the entrance again (the full amount). Not very flexible The trams outside where quite noisy.

Thermal bath.

The cutlery & dishes were not at all cleaned by the housekeeping, they were same till the time we checked out. No coffee machine in the room. Being a couple single beds were given. The beds had spring which was too noisy to sleep. The tap in bathroom had a major issue as every time when you turn on the tap water from hand shower & tap use to flow, which was just waste of water.

The staff were friendly and helpful from the start. When I got to my room my bed was not great so I asked about it Before I could even finish they had the staff re doing my bed can’t fault them At all. Everything I needed or had a problem with they sorted me out the door staff were pleasent everytime I came through the door. The location is perfect it near everything in walking distance. Would highly recommend this hotel and will be staying again.

Location and the view from our room was great , breakfast was good , easy direct access to the spa , hassle free parking in front of the hotel . Tram and bus stop just outside .

The Gelert hotel needs massive improvements and renovations , smelly and old bathrooms , uncomfortable old flat pillows on which it is rather impossible to sleep ,white entry door to the room and the smell reminds me rather old hospital than hotel . Beautiful historical building but sadly not looked after .

The inside of the hotel is very outdated. Old squeaking furniture, the doors of the bathroom were barely closing. The bed sheets and the bathtub were not clean. I was disappointed. The check-in took ages and the receptionists were too arrogant. On the website it says it has parking space but we were asked to pay 10€ without a receipt and we ended to park on the street in public place. It is such a nice hotel from the outside, but the interior it’s from another age. It really needs a renovation!

Lovely old hotel. Old style glamour (art nouveau). Beautiful spa facilities. Good views and location excellent. Metro and public transport right outside. Good size comfy room. Huge choice for breakfast and loads of lovely fruit.

Maybe needs a bit of a redec here and there, but NOT contemporary as that would spoil the era of the hotel. Keep it in it's period. The lifts down to the spa were out of commission which was a bit of a pain. But that was all. Be nice if they provided more vegan options for a cooked breakfast and a choice of plant milks.

The location of the hotel was conveniently situated. Metro and tram service out front. Spa and thermal baths on site. Take your own towels. Plenty of choice for buffet breakfast included in our price. It is a grand hotel, and glad we stayed. All be it fatigued, it was what we had expected.

We paid for a "courtyard view", which we did not get. It was a view of roofs. When i asked in reception they said, that IT IS a courtyard view, so i would advise if you are booking then opt for a river view.. The hotel could do with an upgrade. I would certainly change the entrance mats as a minimum.

My room with single bed. Very uncomfortable, cheap bed. Horrible pillow. The entire room and corridors are ran down, and worn out. The bathroom tiling reminded me the communist era tiling. The wall to wall rug was dirty looking and ran down.

Great location, very nice and helpfull staff, beautiful hotel, great breakfast with wide selection and a great view of the Danube. And the pillow was the best pillow I have ever come across at a hotel.

The room was a bit worn down, the sheets didn't get changed even though there was a spot on one of them and it was a bit dificult to turn off the water properly. But for the prize, these were minor things!

An Old and Poorly Kept Hotel

Decent size room; location near River; restaurant on the ground floor; public transit options

Very old with signs of deferred maintenance. E.g. The upstairs bathroom leaked and made a mess of our bathroom. The good thing is the hotel staff came right away and fixed the problem. The location of hotel is far from the major tourist attractions as it is on the Buda side of the river. The SPA IS A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT: it reminds me an old hotel swimming pool with freezing cold water.

Chabby chic with great breakfast!

Staff was attentive and pleasant. Breakfast is amazing, huge and many choices which is included in room price. Price was very reasonable. Access to the bath house is so convenient and guests get discounted entry, it's wonderful to walk down in your big terry cloth robe and enjoy the bath house, towels are also provided by the hotel, added perk. Tram is directly across the street and allows access to all directions in the city. Views are stunning of the bridges and river. We were there in November so not crowded at all.

The furniture in the rooms is shabby chic, looks like the original furniture from 1918. Despite the furniture it's comfortable and the linens are clean and good quality. They could use new pillows, they are down but very flat.

Fantastic Location, Individaul Character

The Location just on the edge of the town on the riverside is excellent. if your expecting the sterile look of a premier inn or other large chain of hotels then don't stay here. The Gellert gives you glimpse of a bygone age. Wood panelling and colourful glass decorate the interior. Yes its a bit frayed around the edges, but then so am I and I am not 100 years old. The service was attentive and helpful and the facilities more than acceptable for its price bracket and rating. Yes you can get a more modern and predictable experience but I consider myself an individual character in life and so the Gellert has individual character. I came to see the city of Budapest and not spend all my time looking under the carpet for hotel faults, so savour its uniqueness, charm, history and enjoy. Thank you for the experience.

Breakfast was a little to canteen like, but other than that good value for money.

Old world charm

The hotel is old but clean and well maintained. Our rooms were large and the bathrooms huge by European standards. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast is great and access is very easy by metro and bus, both right across the street from the hotel. The thermal spas were fantastic and although busy not crowded. Use the spas on the side of the swimming pool, it attracts less visitors. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Will certainly return.

Tram lines right next to it, friendly staff, beautiful building - inside and out, amazing breakfast buffet, very nice restaurant and bar attached to it, comfortable beds, easy access to Gellert Baths.

The carpet and minibar in my room looked a little outdated, but everything was clean and comfortable so that was just a minor issue.

Frukosten ok; fanns mycket att välja på men inte så mycket som lockade. Litet stökigt över helgen med mycket folk. Kaffet inte gott.

Frukosten ok; fanns mycket att välja på men inte så mycket som lockade. Litet stökigt över helgen med mycket folk. Kaffet inte gott.

Frukosten och området var väldigt bra.

Personalen i receptionen skulle kunna vara trevligare. jag frågade hur man skulle göra för att betala resa till flygplatsen om man inte har kontanter. Svaret var "Go and get it", sedan visade han mig sin rygg...

Jätte fint hotell med gamla anor. Fantastiskt att man kunde ta på sig morgonrocken och gå in på termalbadet.

Det var ett insektsgaller på utsidan av balkongdörren som stod och slog i balkongen hela natten när det blåste. Dörren gnisslade och sedan blev det 2-3 hårda smällar i balkongen. Blev väckt flera gånger under den sista natten på grund av detta.
