Quintinha Sao Joao

The Hotel was in an excellent location to visit Funchal and the surrounding area. The breakfast and restaurant food was of an extremely high quality, all topped off with the professionalism and attention to detail of the staff. The hotel management should be very proud of the way in which the hotel is run.

There is nothing to dislike !

After booking a double bed they emailed to say it couldn’t be guaranteed, but they did give us one after complaining at the email

I loved the hotel itself. They've had a lot of attention to detail: furniture, gardens, everything! The room was massive and classy. The piano bar was really nice as well. Everything felt classy, really. I also used the spa and the service was good and personnel were attentive.

As a young female solo traveller I felt quite observed by the elderly couples staying in the hotel. Obviously it's got nothing to do with the hotel itself. There were also young couples and one with a children, that I saw. But didn't get to see other solo travellers, probably because of the type of hotel (5 stars, price, etc.). Also, the indoor swimming pool could have been heated and the water a bit warmer.

Lovely hotel with great facilities. Staff were super friendly. Grounds were well kept and luscious. Room was big and very comfy and clean. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice.

Bathroom was a little tired. No iron in room or to borrow.

It was a quiet and serene garden property, and the staff was fabulous. It was a solid 20-25 min walk from the main restaurant scene, which likely contributed to its tranquility, but it felt a touch distant at times. We used it mostly as a central location to plan day trips, which worked out well with a rental car and free parking. Also, the on-site included breakfast as well as the reasonably priced dinner restaurant were great.

WiFi was really poor.
