There was a problem parking every night which for the money per night I would not have expected!
We were so impressed by how polite and helpful all the staff were. The room was beautiful. The buffet breakfeast was the best we have ever had.
The greeting by the restaurant manager who kindly directed us from our incorrect entry point to teh hotel lobby.
The sense of comfort and relaxation with attentive (but not overly so) staff and good food. Beautiful pools and a lovely lounge.
Exclusive location, beautiful environment, luxurious rooms, great facilities and service. This is truly a 5-star accommodation!
The general and specific location could not be better. The hotel has retained its charm of former days amongst the hustle and bustle associated with a guests coming and going. I gained the impression from the desription in the material on line that the rooms would all have good views. The two rooms I booked had only glimpses of the views by looking at an angle out of the windows.
The atmosphere is unique.the service is excellent. The various eating/drinking venues are second to none. We had a relaxing & rewarding holiday
Old world atmosphere representing part of our early history in a very relaxed and peaceful environment
We just loved the Art Deco lights and accoutrements, beautiful Grand Dining Room and the various lounges in which to luxuriate for the weekend. Great drinks on offer too, we particularly enjoyed the Great Western Golden Ale. Cocktails looked good but we didn't indulge. Good location, just near the station but no noise from the railway and just outside the door is the main street of Katoomba and the Paragon Cafe, oldest cafe in Australia I'm told. Creaking floorboards! Shower was over the bathtub, not a shower stall.
This place has fantastic kerb appeal and the common rooms are attractively furnished and comfortable. The hotel is now under new management and an improvement plan has been put in place to restore the hotel to its full potential, including simple things such as updating to digital, flat screen TVs. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly, providing us with the essential information for our long weekend in the Blue Mountains. We had a small problem which was quickly and satisfactorily resolved by the manager, who came across as very focussed on bringing the hotel back to standard. This is a hotel with good location, looks excellent on the outside, is comfortable inside and no longer deserves the rating applied to it under the old owner. The new owner is making a difference to his clients' experience. Keep up the good work. Room Tip: Avoiding the holiday periods and weekends, avoids the higher tariffs.
This is a MUST STAY! We stayed for 1-night in the family suite and it was so comfy. I wish would could have stayed longer. we arrived a bit early and were greeted by Paul. Paul was still getting our suite ready and suggested we go down to the corner grab something to eat and come back and we would check us in; while leaving our bags. When we returned the suite was ready and our luggage was placed in the suite. The fridge and cabinet were already stocked with our breakfast selections. Fresh fruits, cereals, bread, OJ, water, coffee and tea. The suite looks like a picture perfect little cottage and was just so cozy. Paul was able to get us reservations at "PINS" for our Thanksgiving dinner; which, is literally across the street. BEST MEAL EVER and the price was shockingly lower than expected!!! A must experience! The Scotch Steak, Lamb Meatballs & Spaghetti and Kangaroo were just amazing.Whatever you decide to eat ask the for beer/wine recommendations and they will glad make suggestions. The following morning we had to check out and Jenny & Paul held our luggage so we could do a couple more hikes before catching our train and offered to drive us to the train station when we arrive back as the Blue Mountain Hopper was stopped for their lunch break. Although we were left alone and had limited interactions with Jenny & Paul the whole experience was so relaxing and well worth doing! Jenny & Paul are amazing people and we thank them for such a wonderful and relaxing stay!!! The only downside to this part of our trip was that we only stayed 1-night :( If possible stay at least 2-nights.
It was good value for the price and the location was great, nice ambience with the mountains and the 1930's decor The room I was in was close to the stairs and a lounge area and at night there were some older guests who relaxed there and it was hard trying to sleep but they did stop at around 9.30pm so wasnt that bad
We had a long way to travel: In order to manage fatigue, we booked into the Metropol, to take an early train to the city conference we were going to. It was a very wet, with flood warnings: As you can imagine, we weren't sure if we'd make it by 1800 hours to book in: The staff on duty when I rang to indicate we may be late: were absolutely excellent, very helpful. They rang again at 1730 to check where we were up to: gave instructions as to where to find our keys should they not be there. No trouble. Thank you. Very handy to railway station, clean, warm, comfortable bed.
The vloseness to the railway, the rooms ,the food, which was excelleant and of course the red bus for convienience .
The Metropole Katoomba was very noisy and the TV did not work, other couples complained of the same problem, food was good, staff OK, however the placement of our room overlooking the railway was very, very noisy. As above
Older hotel from 1920's. Small rooms, crackly floors, fairly clean and comfortable mines the lack of Air Conditioning on a day where it was 40C outside. The fans were a good alternative and appreciated. The complimentary FULL breakfast was awesome. . No AC was unexpected.
