It was a good functional hotel right at the base of Old Town with friendly helpful staff. Their english was a bit shaky if that's a big thing to you. For us it wasn't and we figured out what each other was saying just fine after a while.
the design of the room was amazing, the feeling with the staff was great. close to 18 de julio it was a perfect stay, as a travel agent i was very impressed and will definatly return as the price was fantastic along with the room and people. and i hope i get emails with special offers to return. only that we didnt stay long enough.
The building the tv and the rooms are under the expectations.
The staff was very pleasant, and the architecture of the old building transformed into a hotel was neat and appropriate for it's great location a stone throw away from Plaza Independencia. Didn't really know how to work cable.
Location, room, cleanliness, price & free parking. This is second time we stayed at hotel. I'd rate it at a 9. The last one of these we filled out ranked hotel at 7.9 for some reason. I'm not sure how answering the check boxes turns into a score. For clarity I thought I'd tell you my rating directly. Nothing
The hotel is beautiful! A combination of antique and modern! The staff at the front desk were extremely helpful and kind! The cleaning staff didn't do their job as they should have
A very unusual hotel, right in the centre of the old town. Tiny lobby up a flight of steps, with an ancient and tempramental elevator. The room we had on the 4th floor had restricted views of the harbour and old town, inclunding the scuffy roof terrace of the hotel opposite. The room was 'unusual', very high-ceiling, so had been refurbished as a two-level room - up a flight of unguarded stairs to the (leaky) bathroom and bed area. The hotel has "character", but would not be suitable for anyone with mobility problems! Breakfast was fine (on the 5th floor - again up a winding stairway) and the staff spoke good English and were very helpful. We liked it - it's just a bit 'unusual'. Don't stay there if you have mobility / walking problems, but otherwise it's an interesting experience in a very old building.
The quietness. Not so noisy with all the traffic.
The staff was helpful with one of the quesitons that I had for them. The room was not heated and it dropped into the 20s in Montevideo. The hotel had hot water for about five minutes so although my companion could get a shower, I could not. The sheets were stained and so old they were beginning to decay, as was not only the pillow case but the pillow itself. It was expensive ($32) for location and what one receives.
Room was spacious and had style, old city house with interesting furniture, a place with some character. Much better value than other box-like rooms in nearby 'modern' hotels which charged twice the price. The shower wasn't great, limited water supply. Still plumbing issues to be expected in an old town house like this, and management quickly fixed any problems.
booked v late so choice v limited. Chose Arapey because walking access to old city & port. good bus links. variety of eating places nearby. sheets not ironed, we doubted that they had been washed. Looked as though bedding had just been thrown back after last occupant. carpet dirty. lighting dangerous. decor jaded. there was no reduction on actual room rate. dollar:pesos conversion 20% above going rate in city
