Ponta Delgada (Açores) hotell

Plus: The best part is the cozy feeling of the place, what probably comes from the friendly staff and cute interior. Loved the breakfast location outside in the garden. It was a new experience that there’s no breakfast buffet like in most hotels I’ve been to and at first I didn’t like it much, that I couldn’t actually choose my whole breakfast. But then again, it was like a nice suprise to see what good will come this morning and the food was always made very well.

Plus: The breakfast is just fantastic! The people are also super helpful and nice, best place to stay in Ponta Delgada.

Minus: Only the coffee. You need good beans, folks. Call Intz48 and get them to roast you some nice coffee!

Plus: Excellent breakfast buffet in a wonderful garden. The reception part was very good and the staff uniform is very cute too.

Minus: Well as anywhere we like a little impartiality or transparency on the part of those who receive us, but I found too much on. The part of some of the staff, shattering the plan of my holiday week, because during the day is almost impossible to relax!?! On the other hand I will come back, because the place is so friendly. I truly believe it is a great destination when we want to escape the bustle of the big city:)

Plus: This was an excellent place to stay and speak to other travellers about places or restaurants to go to. The breakfast was excellent and very plentiful

Minus: Better wifi in our room however, it was fine in the lounge area and did get us socializing a bit more.

Plus: The garden, the house and the location is awesome.

Minus: The towerroom is al little uncomfortable, but this is critique on a high level.

Plus: My Favorite hostel ! The free coffee and tea and cake was amazing ! And the staff were so friendly and welcoming ! Such a Beautiful garden and pool space . Really Couldn’t ask for a better place ! WiFi worked well and great location. Super clean and charming !

Plus: breakfast also for early birds (could be more diversified, everyday it was the same, but for me its cool), didnt go to the main breakfast but sounded super cool

Plus: Allt! Personalen var så trevliga och fanns alltid till hands. Rummen var rymliga och lagom antal sängar per rum. Frukosten! Frukosten är fantastisk ute i den härliga trädgården. Familjemiddagen som sker varje kväll var dessutom supergod och prisvärd!

Minus: Det enda jag kan komma på är att wi-fi inte räckte upp till rummen.

Plus: Out of the Blue is an excellent choice for your stay in Açores. Conveniently located in the center of Ponta Delgada, this hostel has a cool and unique vibe to it. The staff is great: everybody is looking out for you and will be happy to help. You can feel this right on the check-in moment or on every breakfast. Breakfast is a treat not to miss: they offer a daily chef's special (eggs benedict, different kinds of toast, etc) and different pancakes. It's a great way to start out the day, in the garden, at the communal table, having your breakfast and sharing moments with the other guests. Out of the Blue also has a daily "family dinner", which is unexpensive and a great way to meet the other guests, the staff and experience Açores dishes and amazing farm to table quality. Swimming pool (salt treatment!) is smallish but it's not really necessary! If you don't want to program your day, you can also rely on them for daily tours.

Minus: Little bit of humidity in the room and it was not a kingsize bed as stated, but two single beds joined together. Room was also a little bit on the small side. If you can't live without internet, portable wifi or something like that is advised.

Plus: Excellent vibes, dear and kind people.

Plus: The staff was amazing! It felt like they are friends rather than staff. The location is really good, the place looks really cool and clean, breakfast was fresh, everything was fantastic. Best hostel I've ever been to! Will definitely come back.

Plus: Very nice and funny staff. Croissants and delicous, homemade cake at breakfast. Small, cosy inhouse bar with fair prices and free fruit flavored water. Stylish furnitures and decor in common areas. Clean bathroom including high quality shampoo and soap.

Minus: Nothing to complain about.

Plus: This was the perfect place for us! We loved the house, cozy and like a family home. Mafalda, Filipe and their team made our stay a perfect place fir a great vacation.

Plus: Amazing staff, really nice people with perfect english, very helpful in recommending activities for the day. Everything is super clean, and new, really comfortable beds with your own personal fan and light and small personal basket. Every day they make your bed and clean everything which is amazing, and a really nice lobby, patio and kitchen with a great bar and good beer selection. Ohh and the breakfast was really healthy and great. Location is ok with a nice walk through town to get wherever you need, anything in town is within excellent walking location

Plus: Super friendly & caring people that will give you plenty of advice on your travels! The hostel feels like home; they've got delicious breakfast, nice patio to hang out in, the rooms are clean and the en-suite bathroom is a big plus.

Plus: So quid and cozy encluding the receptionist Bruna

Plus: Hotel staff were amazing. They were really nice and welcoming and they all speak very good english. Location is good, 10 minute walking to the center.

Minus: Take ear plugs with you. Airport is really close so you can hear airplanes landing and rising and you can also hear the noise from the street. Walls are thick so soundproof is not so good from the other rooms either.

Plus: Everything was excellent from the breakfast to the very comfortable beds.

Minus: I can not think of anything.

Plus: Staff was very helpful. I got an upgrade for my room. I was provided with a special pillow and on they prepared an early breakfast on the day of departure.

Minus: Food at the hotel's restaurant was very good but service a bit slow

Plus: The staff was very professional and made our stay super easy. They even booked a rental car for me which I really appreciated because I was very confused with trying to choose a service. We enjoyed the breakfast. It was nice that the hotel provided towels for swimming outside of the hotel.

Plus: Everything

Plus: Pedro, the owner was super kind and helpful, the room was spacious and clean. The price was excellent for the accommodation and service I got.

Minus: It was hard to relax sometimes cause from the old doors and floor you could hear every movement of the other guests

Plus: Very clean, cosy, sweet and warm guest house :) Thank you for meeting us in the middle of the night! We'd a great stay!

Plus: Very clean place. Older building, but modernized. Friendly and helpful host.

Minus: For the cheapest rate, you get to sleep in a tight space, Which is to be expected.

Plus: It's more a hostel than a guest house, but it's quite nicely furnished and clean.

Minus: It has only 2 bathrooms and one shower. For the lower season it's OK, but if tmits fully booked might be a bit inconvenient.

Plus: Wonderful experience, great accommodations, exceptional staff, loved Sao Miquel & can’t wait to return!

Plus: The staff basically saved our trip to the Azores, after we had some troubles with our airline tickets. Outstanding B and B. Excellent for kids / families.

Plus: I can’t say enough good things about Quinta da Abelheira. Margarida made us feel at home and went out of her way to ensure we were comfortable. We loved her!! The breakfast spread was wonderful, with many delicious options. The location is central to the airport, the center of Ponta Delgada, and is easily accessible to sites like Furnas and Sete Cidades. I would love to come back here again and spend more time exploring the island.

Plus: Pool was lovely. Hotel and surroundings very clean. Breakfasts were delicious with a large selection of familiar foods plus tasty local foods. Enjoyed homemade cakes, cookies and breakfast items such as quiche and yogurt.

Minus: While it’s great to conserve electricity, the steps up to the room remained dark until I reached the 2nd or 3rd step.

Plus: The location was great, close to town but on a nice quiet street. The staff were nice and accommodating and the breakfast was yummy.

Plus: Extremely nice staff, excellent breakfast , nice and clean rooms

Minus: A little too expensive

Minus: Room I booked said garden view room but it was facing the parking lot. It was quiet and comfortable but did not really represent what was advertised on booking.com.

Plus: This will be long. But worth reading if you’re going to Sao Miguel. This hotel is beautiful and charming. The decor is lovely and all details are cared for incredibly well. The rooms are spotlessly clean and cozy. The breakfast buffet is exceptional - it changes every day, and everything is fresh and delicious. It’s also presented beautifully. All of this was really great. However, the people who work at the hotel made our stay. Margarida is amazing. We assumed she owned the place by how much work and heart she puts into everything. She and Stacy went above and beyond to help us with every request for advice or restaurant bookings or activities. They are very warm and seem to genuinely enjoy helping guests have a good experience while visiting Sao Miguel. They gave very good tips for places to go based on talking with us and understanding our interests (e.g. Stacy recommended a beach that was a real escape, situated below a jungle-like forest and surrounded by beautiful, very dramatic coastline, with very few people). Every member of the staff is very kind and helpful. You feel very welcome and relaxed. They’ve managed to create a unique atmosphere. I should also mention that Margarida and Stacy switched into overdrive when they learned it was my boyfriend’s birthday. We gave no notice and had a few unrealistic would-this-be-possible requests for the day. They went all out to try to make it all happen. They’re clearly well connected on the island and know it well. Margarida knew that I wanted my boyfriend to be able to have chocolate cake that evening at dinner and to avoid any chance of the restaurant selling out of their chocolate desserts, she personally delivered a chocolate cake to the restaurant in the afternoon as a gift to us. Imagine! If you’re going to Sao Miguel, I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough. Thank you Margarida, Stacy, Joao, everyone! -Molly

Plus: - Beautiful grounds and setting - Delicious breakfast with variety of specialties - Nice pool area - Great hospitality

Plus: We arrived at midnight at the airport but there was still waiting someone to welcome us at the hotel (with umbrellas and all since it was raining a lot). Excellent breakfast with fresh homemade products (cakes, juices, eggs, jams...) with a lot of choice in a very nice setting. Helpful and very kind staff.

Plus: Ecological approach. Feeling I'm in a community of really nice people.

Plus: The house is wonderful and staff were super nice to us all the time. They even share their own vegetables with the guests, which are super delicious.

Plus: The big room what we had with our own private entrance, the well equipped kitchen with fresh spices, vegetables and sometimes eggs. You can pic free these things from their garden. They recycle everything, that is a big plus. The pond on the yard is lovely.

Minus: Everything was great but the location next to a highway. It was though easy to get somewhere by car.

Plus: Small touches, hand made soap, breakfast, pick your own veg,

Plus: The stuff was really nice. We arrived at late hours, there was no problem with it and they gave us proper information how to get in our room. We could also harvest vegetables from the garden which was pretty awesome. The location was also nice, maybe 15 minutes walk to the centre of Ponta Delgada. I highly recommend this hotel.

Plus: The estate is beautiful and the rooms are lovely – ours had a working fireplace and plenty of wood to put in it. The kitchen is also very nice and clean.

Minus: Be forewarned that the bathrooms are not ensuite for most rooms. The location isn't terrible, but it's far from great – it's a 25 minute walk into the center of town, and the walk is not an interesting one.

Plus: Very nice stay! The house and surroundings are wonderful. Great garden! There is a possibility to pick vegetables from the farm and eat them. Very clean.

Plus: Very nice pool and garden that you can walk around. You can even use some of the vegetables

Plus: Ocean view room. Amazing staff!

Minus: The views from the ocean view room are AMAZING! The staff was absolutely wonderful! My only negatives were that it was REALLY windy when we were here and the patio door rattled all night so I didn't get much sleep. We also had two cockroaches in our room. One was pretty big and I killed it. There was a little one that came out the first night but not the second. Overall this doesn't detract from the hotel. This is more just an FYI. Overall I would stay again!

Plus: Very nice facilities. A huge room (a studio apartment). Everything you need in the kitchen (except no food which you'd obviously have to buy yourself). It was prob a low-price (30eur) only because of off-season, but it would be a good deal even if it was a little more expensive.

Minus: The hot-water was not working in the morning, but the staff were profusely apologetic, so I think it was very unusual. It'd be nice to put a little freebies in the kitchen as a welcome? (free coffee, etc) A location is a bit remote, but no problem with a car.

Plus: Staff go out of their way to help and make you feel at home.

Minus: Hotellet kan gärna jobba med sin miljöpolicy t ex fler krokar på väggarna att hänga upp handdukarna på(så man slipper tvätta dem så ofta), sopsortering.

Minus: Just a little thing: The bed was noisy and there were two joined single bed

Plus: Really nice place. You get a whole apartment, there is a pool and a tennis court. The staff was very kind. The view was really amazing!! Lovely way to wake up :) would definitely recommend

Minus: The room smelled a bit old? We just put the windows open and it was fine. Also the parking is not in front of the door but 1 minute walking (that was fine for us).

Plus: People Make the Difference, and Andre and the rest of the Staff of This Exceptional Hotel Makes the Difference!!! We Just Love it!!!

Minus: Nothing & Nothing!!!

Plus: With a gorgeous view, the resort location within nature is perfect if you want to be away from the city stress. The staff is very friendly and will go out of their way to make the stay feel amazing, I checked-in on my birthday and even though I haven't told, when leaving the resort on same day I was happly suprised with some chocolate as a gift from the hotel staff. We found the room always clean and even though we didn't had tablets for the dishwasher, the housekeepers always took care of it. Since we rent a car, which is the best approach in Azores, we were near everything we wanted to visit. You won't regret stay here and most likely will exceed your expectations.

Minus: Everything was perfect. Will recommend and be back when coming to São Miguel next time.

Plus: The location was beautiful: the ocean view from the room was breathtaking. The staff were very friendly and helped us make arrangements for getting around the city. The breakfast at the resort was excellent.

Plus: Breakfast was excellent. Nice variety of options available. Staff was very friendly and helpful. A short and scenic walk to restaurants on the beach. Beautifully remodeled building which maintained a lot of the historic character.

Minus: A little outside the city center so less options nearby. While parking is plentiful in the area, the street is a bit tight right in front. It probably adds to the charm in the end but takes a little to get bags in and out.

Plus: The staff were absolutely fantastic, gave us great recommendations and made lots of bookings for us. We really felt the personal touch. Breakfast was excellent and the one supper we had was delicious. Overall a brilliant stay.

Minus: The location is slightly out of town however we enjoyed a waterfront walk into Ponta Delgada and we had a hire car.

Plus: Very welcoming and friendly place. Beautiful traditional room - quiet and spacious. Delicious breakfast with fresh fruit, freshly baked pancakes and eggs & bacon. Good location with parking spaces available nearby.

Plus: Jose and his wife couldn't be lovelier. All of the extra personal touches made the stay extra special. They went the extra mile to accommodate our 6 month old with a crib, bath and high chair.

Plus: Hosts, food, attention to detail was wonderful. Garden, deck, advice all made it enjoyable. A nice change from modern similar hotels.

Minus: Ventilation could be a bit better, but we had a door to the garden we left open. No worry on safety.

Plus: Large , unique , clean room . We were very comfortable and found it hard to leave ! Jose is wonderful , he has great recommendations to make your stay an absolute blast

Plus: The Solar was very comfortable, a short walk to the beach and city center, and quiet. The hosts, Jose and Eduarda, were absolutely fantastic. The dinners that Eduarda prepared were superb, some of the best food I’ve ever had! Jose was very helpful in arranging drivers and tours, and personalizing your experience. Breakfast in the morning was great as well. Our room was large and clean, and beds were comfortable. The small sitting atrium off our room was a nice touch as well. I would absolutely stay here again, and I cannot say enough good things about this property and Jose, Eduarda, and the staff. They even packed us a picnic lunch when we went hiking! They had great local recommendations and helped with making reservations. Excellent all around.

Plus: Our hosts were wonderful, kind, and very accommodating. They went out of their way to help us plan a great time on Saõ Miguel, with travel advice and booking reservations for us. The room was great; the historic building was very special; and the breakfasts were phenomenal (with different treats every day). The best day of our entire trip was the cooking class and dinner hosted here. The class was fun, the food and wine was amazing, and the connection and camaraderie we had with our hosts and the other guests made the trip unforgettable. We're so glad we stayed here!

Plus: Close to the center. Excellent breakfast with fresh orange juice. I've arrived early morning, and the receptionist found me an empty room, thus I did not have to wait with check-in.

Plus: The "Alcides" is a simple hotel run by very kind and generous people. It is conveniently located in the VERY center of the city. Rooms are modestly furnished, but clean and comfortable. Breakfasts served in the restaurant downstairs offer many choices (even fresh OJ!) Did I mentioned kind, generous, helpful service?

Minus: Sista morgonen då vi skulle få ”basic frukost” enligt överenskommelsen kl 4.45 dök den personal som hade ansvar för det kl 500 då vi skulle åka. Det var osäkert om personalen överhuvudtaget hade beställt taxi. Vi fick åka med en annan gästs taxi.

Plus: Very pleasant hotel, recommend a lot. Good location, clean, cozy, tasty breakfasts, nice pool.

Minus: No tea making facilities in room. Broken toilet seat.

Plus: Staff was excellent, great location. Beautiful entrance and rooms. Large ceilings and French balcony.

Minus: It takes a little bit of time for shower to warm up but bearable!

Plus: The hotel offers an excellent breakfast, a good location at the center of the historical area and the internet provided is fast.

Minus: The mattresses are too hard and the acoustic isolation is poor, which means that one listen all the noises from the nearby rooms and from the street. The plumbering fixtures at the bathroom aren't working properly.

Plus: The hotel is at a very good location and we could walk to many of the attractions of the city. The staff was very friendly, especially Jefferson on reception that was very patient giving all the information we needed. but not only him. The hotel restaurant was tasteful with a great chef and the staff was very friendly. The room was big, quiet and comfortable. Wonderful shower. Bathroom sparkling clean. The street is narrow, but the hotel has its own parking space, that was very helpful.

Minus: The room didn't have a safe box but this was not an issue since we could leave money and documents at the reception save.

Plus: Friendly staff, great location, nice breakfast, clean rooms

Minus: Everything was lovely

Plus: Hotel with nice decoration, decent and calm. Our room was so nice and spaceous, wifi worked well too. Hotel is in the centrum, just convinienet. They offer us breakfast early in the morning, so we do not miss it due to early way to the airport.

Minus: I will like more vegetables and more variety of fruits and sweets for breakfast. They are tasty and good, but I will add some of these mentioned.

Plus: Great room sea view from balcony and off road covered parking a huge bonus

Plus: Buffet breakfast was very good. Pool, both indoor and outdoor were nice. Room was very comfortable. Walkway and view from the fifth floor elevator was spectacular!!!!

Minus: Shower soap and shampoo could have been better.

Plus: Location was great. We were 4 people ( 3 adults and 1 child) the room/apartment was great. All the staff were really helpful! Vanessa at the reception was outstanding! Breakfast was really good.

Minus: Breakfast layout could do with some adjusting, but the quality was fantastic.

Plus: Nice location and very clean. The pool was very chilly though especially in comparison to the other hotels we stayed in on the island. Nice friendly staff and good breakfast.

Plus: Very friendly hotel staff, nice hotel, excelent breakfast. It was our honeymoon and they surprised us with bootle of sparkling wine in ice and lovely decoration :) I would recommend this hotel to our family and friends.

Minus: Hotel maids didn't respect 'do not disturb sign' hanging on the door handle and entered the room while we're resting.

Plus: The price we found was really good for the room: an entire apartment with kitchen and terrace with a view. The breakfast was really nice with many vegetarian option and soy milk <3, not so easy to find as an option on the island. The staff was really nice and helpful. A big pro: it is a family hotel - at least was full of kids, also some of them screaming in the corridor next to our room BUT the noise isolation of our room was great. We heard nothing! That is a great thing. The hotel has many facilities included in the price, unfortunately we did not use them because of a matter of time but totally great for the price.

Minus: WiFi needs to be improved, it works on-off. The hotel looks a bit old-fashioned but rooms are clean and spacious so no way to complain about it..
