the bad quality-price actually destroy all the pleasure

We had already a long discussion with the manager so it will not be a surprise for the hotel to read it. We were in overall very disappointed by this hotel, by far the worse in 10 days in Dominican Republic. Here are a few issues we had, we arrived around 6pm after a 5hours drive from Samana - checking took 25 min for no reasons, the guy was just stoping every 2 min to do something else. No drinks, no sofa, just waiting at the desk. In any other 5*, it takes 5 min - after 25 min, the guy said “I’m so sorry, I can offer you an upgrade if you want to compensate. For only 100$ more you can have a room near the sea” - then no one from the team explained us where is the buffet, we had to ask to another guest after 3 wrong answers from staff at the bar and around - Staff is really not trained as a 5* hotel : we ask for a glass of sparkling water at the bar and they just give us a bottle non opened with no glass, another waiter served us later a drink holding the glass by the top (so you put your lips exactly where she had her hand before), we had a reservation for an “à la carte” restaurant that no one could find - food is quite common at the buffet ( we stayed only one night so I can’t rate the à la carte) - rooms are very far from reception, so if you loose your keys, prepare for a 10min walk - they say that they have flamingos.. ok, just 2 poor flamingos stuck in a small pond inside the reception area When we hike and camp, we don’t expect any service and we are very happy with basic stuffs. But when we pay for 5*, we expect to have a service matching the expectations, and it was really far from it
