Minus: Have the vehicle full of gas, let people know there’s a 300 hold fee on top of your rental fee that will be held on your credit card. Went booking on kayak, provide additional insurance information if selected.
Plus: When I arrived for pick-up, there was a little delay, which is understandable considering there was only one cleaner doing all the cars due to the outbreak.
The staff communicated with me throughout the wait to assure me they didn’t forget about me. Afterwards, they gave me a free upgrade to a JAGUAR!!!
Will definitely go back to Alamo @ CAK.

Minus: We attempted to pick up the rental at the airport. Employee at the counter was extremely rude. We weren’t able to rent the car due to a policy for adding an additional driver, but the way we were treated was unacceptable.

Minus: When I arrived to pick up my car the Enterprise desk was closed and I had to go to the National desk to pick up my car. If there wasn’t other people around I would not have known that this is what I should do.

Minus: The car had an overwhelming smell, as if the interior was just scrubbed, which is odd given that the car only had 1100 miles on it. Returning the car not as convenient as pick up...have to drop-off the car to an attendant further from the counter and walk to the counter to complete drop-off. This was necessary even though rental was pre-paid and the rental duration was just as contracted.

It's not their fault that there aren't any nearby but it wasn't something I thought of because normally there are gas stations near the airports I fly in and out of. It was too close to my flight time for me to drive the extra 12 minutes back out of the airport to find a gas station, fill up, and then drive 12 minutes back. Again, I should have thought of it before, but if they would have informed me ahead of time it would have been less of an annoyance.
Minus: The car was dinged up a lot. I had to take photos at 11 pm in a storm to make sure I wasn’t held accountable. Very expensive for a subcompact.

Plus: Drop off charged $40. for a small chip on window that looked like a spec of dust and the check in man scraped out what appeared to me was a previous patch. So I got charged for someone else's chip and the check out man was real discourteous. Will never rent through Thirfty again and will tell all-

Minus: Got charges applied that should not have been charged so got to fight for that.
Plus: The staff, Toni, could not have been better. She was approved to stay about an hour and a half after they closed to to be sure that we received our car as Dollar closed at 5pm and our plane didn't land until 6:15pm.
Worse, I rented a separate car for my wife, Kayak withdrew the $155.00 rental fee, and I never received a confirmation or rental information for her car that I knew of. I called Dollar and they couldn't find the reservation either so I was out $155.00 (and actually more because it cost me more to rent a new car then the original. Really irritating. I've had they issue in the past as well but it was such a hassle to try and get reimbursement that I gave it up.
Again, Toni at Dollar deserves accolades beyond imagination. She is a lovely person dedicated to customer service. Thank you Toni.
Minus: Frustrating I was charged the $155.00 without a car. Sadly, most car rental services that are discount companies like Dollar perform the same way. Similar with Alamo. Avis was great but then you pay more. In the end, it may be worth it.

Minus: The service was horrible. No attempt to accommodate when I called in and got and off shore agent who had no idea what customer service means. I was able to get a part of my issue resolved once reaching an agent at the airport of origin for the rental.

Minus: Online I just signed up for the special value and the icon picture showed a Chrysler 200 a five passenger car but when I got to pick up my rental car it was a Chevrolet Spark which is not a midsize five passenger car. I'm 6'5" tall and a Chevrolet Spark is not nearly large Enough for me. I ended up having to upgrade to a Hyundai Sonata which of course costing me extra money

Minus: There was a clean sticker on the door jam and the inside looked cleaned but doubt it was sanitized (due to other behavior). The windows had a lot of spray water spots (not dried after car wash) so visibility was hampered by car lights and sunshine. Had to stop and clean them. The rental agent wanted to charge extra for listing spouse, which we questioned, and then she said oh maybe we don't. There could be more transparency on fees, insurance, charges, customer service and information. Seems shady and like trying to pad the bill tactics. Just have clear and trustworthy info spelled out. Tire tread was very low and we had rain during most of the drive. Concerning. Reserved an intermediate car and could not see anything on the display screen like Auto Android or Google maps or Waze. This is 2020! Sheesh. And we could not get a simple answer on insurance, or the benefits or things to consider or why to choose your insurance. Very strange like we should not get Hertz ins. We will not rent from Hertz again. And it was $6+ more than the online reservation amount and no reason given when we asked.

Minus: The customer service was horrible, and I got a better deal by going on kayak.com right in front of the counter and booking a car through them. Then, I was told the insurance I purchased through kayak “didn’t work”. No other explanation. Then I was charged 200 dollars extra that I was told I would get back after I returned the car. I have never seen this, and why is a credit check needed to rent a car?

Then there was the price. because I have the flu and it was 15hrs. late I was charged 119.00 extra. And another thing the charge was alot because it was picked up in one state and dropped off in another. I had a car rented from Almo and cancelled it to drive my own car but after hitting a deer we had to rent this car. NEVER AGAIN. I WILL ALWAYS USE ALMO

Minus: Bogus up charges and flat out lied

Minus: Customer service did not exist. First the car was not available at the local office, making us have to go to the airport, 30 min. away. The agent fast-talked us into $30.99/day insurance saying the $9 insurance advertised online only covered the car when it was being driven, not when it would be parked. We called to get it canceled, were told by Corporate that we could go into any office to get it rescinded, then were told by the local office that we would have to go to the airport (30 mi away) to get it removed. Local office called airport, airport office called us and was extremely rude, implying we were too lazy to go back to the airport office "5 min away"(apparently the agent has no knowledge of local geography). He was aggressive and belligerent. Never renting from Budget again.
Should've bought insurance thru Kayak reservation
Plus: Pick up and drop off was quick
Minus: Insurance was a lot more expensive at the counter
Also, reserved a full size car but got a mid size.

Minus: Car was good, had a cracked bumper and some stains on the interior upholstery. Overall good.

Minus: Incorrectly snuck a $14.99 "Under 75 MI flat fee". Didn't answer the phone when I called back. Terrible service. Wasted a lot of my time. Very frustrating.
