Plus: Drop off is so easy. Pick up takes somewhat longer than expected, perhaps due to my booking was not doen directly with Hertz/thrift. They asked me to write down typical info such as address, cell number and email which was given when booking was made.

Minus: Rental office difficult to find
Plus: Pickup and dropoff were easy.
Minus: I would have preferred a slightly smaller vehicle with decent trunk space for two large suitcases. Parallel parking a mini SUV in Europe can be challenging.
Minus: not an option for 12 hour rental- overpriced

Overcharged
Plus: Generally liked the car (Renault Espace), but it is an experience. No visible dials, buttons, etc on the dash board. Definitely requires someone to show you how things work before driving away, but there was no one available to help.
Minus: Arrived in Nice and they did not have the car I requested (Citroen C4 or similar). Said only car I could have was a van, in a different price category and that I would have to pay the difference in rates. Attendant said she was new and didn't have the ability to waive the extra cost. To me this is unacceptable and I would like to request a refund of the extra charges. At that moment, you are a prisoner, tired after the journey to get there, and with less will to fight.
Drop off in Paris very difficult as drop offs, as I learned trough experience, are only in parking garages with no indication that Europcar have operations in them. Drove around for hours before finding Montparnasse.
Plus: Actually, we didn't return the car to Nice. We arranged to drop it off in Peripignon, where the return went fine

Plus: The car
Minus: My scheduled pickup time was 11:00 am but our flight was early and ended up getting to the ticket counter at 9:30 am. They wouldn't issue me the car until 11:00 am so we had to sit there for an hour and a half waiting. There has to be a better way.
Minus: Excellent price & service. Highly recommended
Minus: They wouldn't allow me to inspect the vehicle before. They said it was too dark. I came back, and there was a tiny scuff evaluated by a non-Hertz employee. I have outside insurance purchased, but I bet it's going to be a hassle.

I had to rent a car in other company which cost me double the price. Really Bad.

Minus: 30 minute queue for pick-up, around the same for drop-off. They tried to push extras down my throat, even after I had been waiting in the queue for 30 minutes.
On the contract it was specified that there was a mark on the front bumper. The exact location was not shown. When I got back, they said the inital mark was in a different place the bumper and charged me ~500EUR for that bumper. I did not hit or abuse the car.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, CHECK AND DOCUMENT ALL SCRATCHES BEFORE YOU HIT THE ROAD, AS THEY WILL PIN ANYTHING ON YOU!
I am now in the process of claiming the sum back from the third party insurance I am glad I had.

Upsell inscrupulous
Minus: Had a Mercedes lined up for $500 over four days and was told we could get a van for much less with much more room. Took 15 minutes to switch the reservation around, and only at the end was I told that it was almost $290 more, despite the agents assurance it would be less.

Plus: The staff was terrible. After being intentionally left behind by the shuttle driver, I could not reach the other staff because they simply would not answer the phone for 15 minutes. When they did answer, I was told they had no car for me even though I had an emailed confirmation of my reservation.
Minus: Everything went wrong. The reservation was initially sent to me as being France when I had entered Florida as my destination. After I told the customer service agent to cancel France and reserve Orlando, Florida, I still received confirmation of a France rental that I did not want. When I arrived in Florida and showed my Ace Rental Florida confirmation to the shuttle driver, I was left out in the cold, dark night because he said he would not let me board the shuttle since I was not on his hand written list. He told me to call the office then drive away. Nobody would answer the phone for 15 minutes. When I finally got through they told me they had overbooked and there were no cars. They offered no assistance. I was stranded in the airport late at night and left to fend for myself.
Minus: 1. Pick-up process took 1.5 hour
2. Small car that didn't fit for 3 people and 3 bags
3. Gearbox failure even though the car had less than 1000 km millage
4. Double payment for the car (first via web-site to ACE, second at check-in to Rhodium). Luckily after several complains Rhodium paid me back.
Minus: It was not Ace. Some company goldcar rental. Horrible customer service, waited hour and a half for our turn. If you pay € 50 they can put you ahead of line. Then they threatened us for buying an additional insurance. They gave us a stick shift. Although I booked an automatic.
Plus: We could not find the place

Marketed as ACE but GOLD Car at the counter
Minus: Charged me an upgrade for the same car i ordered and was pictured.
