Proximity to downtown restaraunt a and shopping, golf and ocean. Rooms a little small
The atmosphere was charming, and the staff was welcoming and generous! We were upgraded and treated to champagne because it was our anniversary. The views were magnificent, and everything was close by! The breakfast was delicious and all the staff were kind and attentive. I was very pleased with our experience! Thank you to the staff for making our experience an anniversary to remember!
The views are stunning and the property is a gem. Gorgeous location off the main road but within a super close walking distance (and if walking isn't for you, there is a shuttle provided). Clean rooms, comfortable beds, extremely wonderful staff. The extras are at every turn - free wine tasting, chocolates on the pillows, hot coco when we checked in, etc. One of the best breakfast buffets I've had. I've stayed here twice and plan on returning every time I visit Carmel.
It was just beautiful and romantic in every way. Staff was incredible. Nothing
This is a beautiful property, with very accommodating employees and easy access to the beach and downtown. We plan to return someday! Have no complaints!
I loved the location. Rooms were clean and staff was helpful. Bed was comfortable, what more can you want from a hotel. Everything went well so I have no complaints
Charming historic hotel with fantastic service and location. We traveled with an infant and had a very enjoyable stay.
Beautifully restored older property with incredible grounds. Great location, very close to beach, shopping and dining. Excellent breakfast buffet. Very professional and courteous staff. Free shuttle will take you anywhere you want to go. Terrific place for a romantic getaway. on-street parking only.
Charming place with the most attentive staff I've ever encountered. Stay in Carmel often. First time at La Playa. We'll be back.
Hotel tried to portray a high end experience by providing milk and cookies at check in. Wine reception in the evenings. Turndown Servive at night and a decent breakfast buffet that is included. Their premier ocean view rooms looked like a holiday In or 3 star hotel at the best. Very poor design and ambiance. Bad holiday in furniture , plastic trees and plants. I expected more for $500 per night, at least rooms that looked better. Also, rooms have no balconeys and hotel does not have a jacuzzi. It is possible that the hotel is offering value for the budget traveller (hard to imagine at over $500 per night). I did notice that better hotels where 30% more expensive when I was in Carmel. I would have preferred to pay about 30% more for better accomadations.
The entire staff was gracious and helpful during our stay. The room was beautiful and attention was paid to every detail.
Location, Oceans Ave. The lobby was beautifully done. There is also the excellent Il Fornaio restaurant in the premises. The room was really small, the bathroom claustrophobic. We had 3 large suitcases but barely had room for 2. There was no fridge or safe in the room.
This was a last minute reservation after our initial 3-day weekend trip was canceled due to snow blizzard. this was a pleasant replacement in a tourist type locale. We'd return to the Pine Inn. Certain furnishings in the room had not been dusted in quite awhile. Metnion this to hotel staf and this was corrected. Also the bed sags in the middle.
The location of the hotel was great and the room was clean and comfortable two flights of stairs to our room and no elevator. Breakfast could have been more varied
The staff was very friendly and helpful to every need. The restaurant was excellent. Although old, the hotel is in excellent condition and well maintained. Not a big deal, but it was a little warm and the hotel has no air conditioning. Of course in this area, many do no not have AC.
Great location and friendly staff!! Pretty lobby Smaller bed room even though it s ocean view
Right in the heart of Carmel with plenty of parking and an easy walk to the beach.
We liked the proximity to the beach, restaurants, shopping. Overall it was a very lovely and charming hotel, perfect for the area!
While not the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in, the slanted doorways and crooked walls gave it a quaint feel. The extras were great...loved the weather report provided the night before, the mint krispies left during the turndown service, the newspaper provided in the morning, and the bottle opener fastened to the bathroom door. The staff was very friendly and helpful, helping us with our luggage and the transport and storage of our bicycles. We were able to leave our bikes in the manager's office, rather than chained to some unsecure bike rack outside or in our own room, which made us feel safer about leaving them and we really appreciated. Showers are awful! Hardly any water pressure so I had a hard time rinsing out my long hair.
Friendly staff, best location in downtown Carmel, comfortable beds. Tiny rooms, extremely out dated bathrooms, difficult to get a parking spot in the Pine Inn parking lot, faded red carpeting on stairs upon entry.
Normandy Inn is a charming small place, located on the main street in Carmel, close to everything, including the beach. We checked in into two rooms, both in good shape, recently renovated, clean, and comfortable. Mattresses were comfortable too. Breakfast was adequate: cereal, some pasties, fruit and hard boiled eggs. We had a dispute with the two clerks on duty regarding our reservation: they thought that we had reserved three rooms while in fact we had only two. After a cordial greeting, the discussion turned into arguments. In the end we found that they have misread our reservation. No apologies were offered. Some patience and a simple "sorry" would have helped.
Loved location and spacious room with good view. Bathroom was nice with both great bath and shower.
I liked the location the best. The Superior King room was huge and very clean. The hotel was one block off of Ocean Ave. and all the shops Restaurants were all within walking distance even for me with a bad knee. Not the best hotel for handicap people lots of stairs no elevators
The Green Lantern Inn is definitely 'Old Carmel'; my husband stayed there when he was a student in college 50 years ago. The grounds and public spaces are attractive and the staff is helpful. The breakfast is delicious and included in the price. The rooms are shabby chic and if that is not your style this is not the place for you.
very charming bed and breakfast with a twenties feel great breakfast menu of serve yourself waffles and fruit also the coffee was good. Are room was clean and charming also in the Carmel twenties style no
