bra sängar, snyggt badrum, mkt bra frukost
Location: 5 to 10 minute walk from Keflavik airport. Excellent Staff: I flew overnight and didn't account for the date change. Staff was very accommodating, changing my dates and even letting me check in early. Before we realized the error, they were happy to hold my luggage. Food: The breakfast buffet was just ok, but I enjoyed the chicken stir-fry at dinner. A seamless experience to land in the morning, store luggage, go touring for a day, then check an early flight out the next day. Getting there: there is no side walk, so you must take a detour around the parking lot or walk more directly on the grass. This was more my/ reykjavik excursions fault: I asked the ticket woman from flybuss about the bus into the city, and she said every 10 minutes, I ended up taking my time at the hotel and missed the flybus. The next one would go 2 hrs later, missing my tour. I had to take a taxi. If you do drop things at the hotel, you should go back to the airport quickly as the last bus to the city tends to leave within 40 minutes of landing.
Good value for the amount I paid. Location was within walking distance of the airport and rental car return. No complaints.
The hotel was close to the airport terminal which was great at 3AM. I will stay at this hotel again. I called GetA Room 3 times before I received an answer to my question. The answer came two days after my hotel stay, TOO LATE!!! I will never use this service again.
I stayed overnight on a connection, which was not my planned route so I was in a terrible mood about the whole thing. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. I loved that it was right by the Keflavik terminal (they say five minutes but I walked there with all my bags in two and a half). I love hard floors in hotel rooms because it just seems so much more hygienic-- you can see how clean (or unclean!) the floors are and my room was immaculate when I arrived. The bathroom is very basic and the beds (I had two singles in my room) don't look like much but... THE BEDS AND BEDDING ARE PHENOMENAL. I slept so soundly and so comfortably I almost didn't want to leave. The comforters were just the right weight, the pillows were perfect. Seriously. After bed, I packed up and got ready, then crawled back in bed until right before checkout. The included breakfast goes until ten o'clock and had a lot of variety and was very filling. Checkout is at noon but they don't seem to mind you hanging out in their lobby for a few hours after. I didn't have a need for a car, but it's also by all of the car rental places-- I would suggest this hotel if your plan is to see a lot of things outside of Reykjavik while you're staying over (parking was also free I believe). The wifi wasn't very cooperative and I had trouble connecting multiple times (they're individual routers rather than an integrated system your device roams on) but it eventually worked and was fast enough. I would agree with other posters that when you come in on a flight at midnight, it's confusing to figure out where it exactly is in relation to the exit-- a sign in the airport would be nice, but people are friendly enough if you ask.
This is a great place to stay if you have a quick overnight stop in Iceland before flying out the next day. I loved that it was walking distance from the airport and that breakfast was included. The room itself was nice and very clean. While it didn't have the amenities of the Hilton Hotel (where we had previously stayed), I personally felt that the room was of the same (wonderful) quality. The hotel can be a little confusing to find in the dark and when you are tired - wish there was a sign somewhere in the airport. I also found the price to be a bit high, but you are paying for the convenience (and everything in Iceland tends to be expensive).
Clean room, clean hotel, good breakfast, great staff Bed was poor for US standards, but ok for Europe standards. Lacking extra pillows, comforters.
This is a nice hotel located 2 minutes from the airport. It is very convenient when taking a late or early flight. Beds were comfortable and place was very clean. Front desk staff was very kind and accommodating. There was an elevator for heavy suitcases (yes!), first hotel to have it since arriving in Iceland and staying in 7 different hotels. I was very happy with this hotel. Only thing missing was tea/coffee and kettle in room, this would have been a nice touch.
Style, design, natural spa A small bathroom
The home is an art installation in and of itself. No detail went untouched. The hot pot is the icing on the cake and Daniel, the Guesthouse Owner, is someone who will never be forgotten.
Beautill place, very very nice rooms, very original ! Friendly people, super breakfast with fresh baked bread... 5 min from airport. Nice tub outside, unfortunately I forget my badingsuit. Very personaly but still enough privacy ! Nothing ! I really will stay there next time too and I would recommend it too everybody when going to the blue lagoon or if you have an early/late flight !
Everything. The hosts here were absolutely wonderful. They picked us up from airport for no extra charge, were very accommodating to our odd travel times, and they even left personal bathrobes, house slippers, and pool shoes for us to use. The heated pool was AMAZING and we wish we could have spent more time here. I cannot recommend the breakfast option with your stay enough. Not only is it very worth it, but the hosts' cooking abilities were fantastic. Yuki makes fresh bread, and Andi's espresso skills are on-point. Best experience we had in all of Iceland, and we did A LOT of stuff, so I feel like that's saying quite a bit. Nothing. We couldn't recommend this guesthouse enough. Absolutely a highlight of our 9 days in Iceland.
The rooms were all unique and beautifully painted. Location was excellent, airport was 5mins drive away, and the best resturant in town was over the road. Beds were fantastic, very warm and very comfortable. Shame we had to leave at 4am. Shower was poor, and it's very noisy. I'd recommend that the owners invest in some carpets or rugs for the floors in the common area, and maybe oil the doors. The locks were real noisy too, maybe install a seperate lock on the inside of each room? Like the ones you see in bathrooms.
The location- very close to the airport, extremely friendly staff, offering even a pick-up from the airport. Great design of the interior and the hot water bath outside (naturally heated water)
Very original and tastefully decorated. The host is very helpful and friendly. No
Close to airport.
Very convenient for the airport. Hote; a bit "tired". Food very average and dull. Last time I stayed in a similar priced hotel in Reykjavik which was in the town centre and had great food. I should have done the same this time obviously.
Quality of food in the restaurant, cleanliness of room, ambiente of room None
Its location near to the airport Relatively high price for the services offered, reception staff was rather blunt
Receptionist was endearing and very helpful.Bar was homely. We arrived to the restaurant exactly 2mins after 9:30 (restaurant closing time) on a saturday night, and we were not served dinner despite the fact that at least 3 other tables were still having their starters (and the fact that the hostess herself told us that no other place would be available for dinner in Keflavyk). This is not the experience I would expect from such a hotel.
very helpful staff picking us up at the airport late at night and offering ride to the car rental the next day for free, localization near the airport, clean rooms, good localization for the first and the last night in Iceland. good price/value rate in comparison to the rest of Iceland. common bathrooms, but that is a standard in Iceland
prompt pick up from and delivery to airport, ample self serve breakfast, even for people with early flights.
Very convenient and economical for Keflavik airport, free shuttle, serve-yourself breakfast, very clean rooms and bathrooms Looks a bit plain from the outside, but homely inside.
Convenient, quiet, clean, excellent service
The shuttle bus service is very effective. Even we took the early morning flight, the owner took us to the airport. The kichen is well equiped and very clean. The room and the bathroom are also tidy up well. The system for the breakfast is " help- yourself" with the foods they prepared and we were satisfied with it for the selection of food. We use them again if we visit the Iceland again. Nothing.
* Near by the air-port * friendly staff It would be useful if we could send an e-mail to the hotel, for example if we need to arrange a pick up at the air-port etc. The hotel website did not work properly, their own on-line reservation form was not working, there was no contact detail except a phone number.
Wery excellent shuttle service to the airport! Two times and it was included in the price!!!
Efficient, clean, close to the international airport. Bananas, bread, milk, tea and coffee, butter and jam for free disposal. Small room, non presence of owner within the building (we only saw them as we got in only)
very nice little place very convenient for airport and keflavik town. rooms were very clean and i thought great value
Very clean and comfortable! There are kitchen facilities but it seems as if it is not common practice to prepare hot meals or to use the fridge. But we stood only for one night ... so this is only an impression.
I've stayed before and will stay again if I come back, it's the only sensible option for very early departures from Keflavik. Very large, somewhat vapid rooms, breakfast available before even the earliest departures, 5-minute transfers to the airport terminal included in the room price. This is not where you will stay for all of your visit to Iceland; it is perfect for your last night, There's absolutely nowhere to hang any clothes!
The hotel hosts were wonderful people, warm and welcoming. They made a great dinner suggestion for us and even phoned in the reservation, which was so nice after our long travel day. The beds were comfy and rooms very clean. We couldn't have been happier.
The space was perfect for our last night in Iceland. We hit some bumps in the road with previous lodging on our trip, which is to be expected; however, it was quite relieving to walk into Bergas Guesthouse and be greeted with a friendly face and such attention to detail. The check-in process was the smoothest we experienced, our room was prepared and ready for us to walk in and fall into very comfortable beds to rest. We booked here because it was a short drive to the Blue Lagoon and minutes from the airport and we would be visiting both in the following 24 hour period. Perfect location, great price, lovely owners. Wish we could have stayed a little longer to explore the surrounding area and waterfront. I will definitely keep Bergas Guesthouse in mind for future trips.
The owners are very personable and make for a magical experience. The hotel room was delightfully comfortable. We lived it here and will return. Nothing.
I was charged $93 as a single traveler. I had made the reservation thinking the price corresponded to the comfort level. It did not. This is a glorified hostel on the outskirts of town. It is in an old industrial type building away from the center of town. Very noisy with smelly bathrooms. Only 3 bathrooms for quite a lot of rooms... When I brought up booking.com for the date that I was there the price came up for $63. I brought this to the attention of the owner. I was being charged the price for a family room. He said that it was too bad, I had booked at that price. He was quite unfriendly and defensive about the situation. Bottom line: I was overcharged and told 'too bad', it was my fault for booking it at that rate. I travel through Iceland twice a year and have stayed in many guesthouses in Keflevic. I have had very good experiences with all except this one.
Friendly staff, not many other guests. Hot tub + sauna are nice, especially without other guests around. Views from room where average, nothing special. No hot breakfast (besides toast).
The hotel cost is very reasonable given the facilities. Room was clean and large enough, bed comfortable, and the room had useful amenities such as desk, comfortable chair, toilet and shower. I took advantage of the sauna and jacuzzi, which were nice but nothing exceptional. They also have fairly nice exercise equipment. However, it really is located in the middle of nowhere with nothing else to do in the immediate facility (except go for a walk, but not what I consider a scenic view). it seemed quite costly to take a taxi between the airport and hotel. Cost of the two taxi rides was about the same as the price of the hotel. Cheaper than staying at Hotel Smari at the KEF airport, but I was surprised by the transportation costs.
Everything was so nice, very clean and incredible staff that was very willing to help. They had a nice breakfast spread in the mornings, and kept the place spotless. Definitely recommend!
Customer Service was great!
It is close to the airport. I was able to play tourist in the morning before flying out in the afternoon.
Breakfast was nice, very close to sadcars
The hotel location to blue lagoon and KEF airport were great. was clean, friendly staff, breakfast was descent. The noise in the hotel carried - and wasn't good for a light sleeper to get a good night sleep.
This guesthouse is a couple of minutes from the airport. The owners are friendly, helpful, and accessible. The house has three separate bedrooms with a shared hallway bath. The room we were in is a spacious one bedroom with a private bath. It has a full kitchen and a stocked for breakfast. It is in a quiet neighborhood, but within one block of all of the small-town offerings. The guesthouse is under 45 minutes from Reykjavic and about 20 minutes from the blue Lagoon. It is all good
Great location for getting to the airport. The gentleman running it was very nice. Had a spacious bathroom and comfortable bed. Didn't get a chance to experience the breakfast, unfortunately. It was all very good. Typical of all Europe, the only bed covering was a duvet, which was too warm for me traveling in the summer, but that's to be expected.
I liked the large shower and good internet.
super clean, super comfortable. Breakfast was simple but delicious, and the host and hostess were both helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay. googlemaps got us on to the right street but told us to turn onto it in the wrong direction. We eventually tracked it down
Had a 18 hour layover in Iceland and stayed at Fit for a place to get a few hours sleep and it was a short walk from the airport (maybe 1 hour/3.5miles/7km) The bed was comfortable, the manager was friendly, the shower had hot water and the facitilities were clean. The building is old and a bit worn and the area of town is more industrial, but it's only a short distance to a few restaurants and the shore. It was the least expensive place that I found (Iceland was very expensive overall) and was a good deal for the price. I would stay there again and would recommend it. The bedding and pillows could be replaced. I don't mind things being old or worn, but they were noticeably stained. Wi-fi signal didn't extend much past the reception desk, but that was not a big deal.
The facility was well kept and clean. The breakfast selection.
Beds were comfortable, room and bathroom were clean. Free tea/coffee 24/7 was a big perk. Very close to airport, stable wi-fi and free parking. It was difficult to find, my GPS didn't register the hostel address as a real place so I had to use a map to find it.
The Start hostel was clean, comfortable, rooms were generous and beds very comfortable. The breakfast was varied and delicious, and they start it at 4:30 to accommodate early flights. I booked this last minute to accommodate a 10 hour layover, and it was a great choice. The staff checked me in late (just after midnight) arranged my cab and provided a yummy breakfast. I would consider staying here if I did a layover in Iceland in the future. It was a little further out than I liked - cabs cost almost as much as the hostel bed. But Iceland is expensive and this is minor. It is also expensive for a hostel bed. But it was toward the low end of the options, so this may just be a complaint that Iceland is expensive.
Lovely people who ran the hotel - they made us very comfortable and were very helpful with information.
It was clean, big, super friendly and helpful at 12 am, and really close to the airport. Perfect for late flights!
