The pools and the ferry to the beach. Nice location peaceful and pleasant. Need the government to do something about the ferry arrivals area and tidy up the taxis. Gives a shocking impression and makes Grand Bahamas look like a third world country. It is the businesses that need better support! The regimentation of your agents. Some people like to make a decision on how to get to and leave the island without being forced into psckages that don't work. The boat from Fort Lauderdale is particularly bad.
Pelican Bay Hotel is ideally located beside the Lucaya Market with many excellent restaurants and souvenir shops. The best rooms are the king suites on the fourth floor with a sea view. Hotel guests are given a pass for the water taxi to Taino Beach. The beautiful beach is a five minute walk away. We were at this hotel for two weeks. On the majority of mornings, the buffet breakfast was very good with fresh fruit salad and custom omelets and various breads, etc. However, on the days that Liz was not supervising, both the service and food were extremely limited.
5 stars to the resident manager, 5 stars to the manager, 5 stars to the party girl X and 5 stars to X, They made our 24th anniversary mad special!! I hope they are there when we go back!
Friendly, kind, clean....what more does one need. Just a wonderful place to have a real vacation.
We loved Ocean Reef. From the people to our room everything was just very nice and special. The staff was extremely attentive and warm. We loved Olive and Cindy and Shimron in the Restaurant. Great place to vacation if you love a personalized service in a homey Resort.
The two pools were both tiny and freezing cold. When I complained to the owner that it was too cold for my baby to swim, he told me to bring an 11-month old into the hot tub. The one restaurant had awful food. My baby found a random pill (not ours) on the floor of our room while crawling around. The screen door in the room was broken and dangerously off the hinges. The managerial staff was extremely rude. When I told the manager that I was not happy with my stay, he said, ''I'm not happy with you either.''
Nothing fancy, but we knew that, but right from the beginning, the staff was very helpful and pleasant. Our room was huge, well maintained, had everything. Grounds were lovely-full marina. Small pool but still lovely overlooking the water. No complaints at all. Slow season so not much with activities at hotel, but they still did karaoke, bingo even though only about 6 people participated! Restaurant was not open all the time because of slow season which was not good since we had no food when we arrived; and they actually opened and grilled up some burgers etc. We thought that was really nice of them. Try it and enjoy!
'' The Perfect Place to Stay '' We ( the chicago 7 all women ) stayed here. The rooms are excellent and clean. The grounds are wonderful and everyone is so helpful. The tennis court is nice and the pools are great. The food was wonderful.
I have been vacationing at Ocean Reef for the last 15 years and it gets better every time. All townhouses have been remodeled, the apartment style rooms are clean and well appointed. The staff bends over backward to make you happy. The fact that Ocean Reef is family owned and operated is a huge plus as well. The onsite manager is available 24/7. The resort is well located and very safe. Pools are always clean and well maintained. For the person who said the pool was too cold for her baby in December - it IS winter and while the weather is on a par with southern Florida, it is STILL WINTER! Guess you can't please everyone.
This is a great all inclusive resort. There is lot's of entertainment, lot's of good food. The rooms are very nice. Housekeeping was spectacular. In passing, all staff smiled and acknowledged us asking how we were doing. I recommend this resort to all.
Beautiful location and that staff kept you entertained. Food was mediocre
The location, the staff, the food and drink choices (including cappucinos) free sports activities (water and land, plenty of lounge chairs by pool and beach, and the 15-20 minute taxi ride from the airport.

The grounds were very nice and the staff was wonderful. The food was okay. While there was variety, I did not like the seasoning much.
location. Beach is fantastic Rooms, beds, fixtures, cleanliness overall.
the beach The rooms were dirty, even after house cleaning would clean. The food was nasty.2 out of 4 days we had cold showers. I have an autoimmune disease and can't allow my hands to get cold. My hands turned white and numb after my shower,I had to blow dry them!!
Friendly staff members. Wrist bands aren't at all comfortable.
Location The food is terrible. Everything has the same taste: chicken, spinach, rice, everything. The drinks are made with bad ingredients. The activities are so-so......
Entarteinment is great, location is amazing food is good. The room are outdated. Kids club need more organized activities
We were happy with everything. got all that we expected. Stayed in the 'privileged view' area. The food in the common meal area was OK, the special restaurants that came with our week stay were pretty good - Chinese, Italian and 5 course w/ steak. Our review is good, you get what the price allows. Shocked to read some very negative reviews. I don't think that we were just lucky, just relax and have a good time. Maybe the nightly shows could include some comedy.
They tried their best to entertain their guests - the staffs were very cordial. The room - definitely need to update
I was pleased by the security measures taken(security card) to safegaurd guests. The staff members, that I spoke with were pleasant and the food at the Flamingo Resteraunt was a feast. Overall I enjoyed everything at this resort and am looking forward to my next visit.
The hotel was clean, but didn't have much more going for it. We missed our cruise out of Miami and had to fly to Freeport Bahamas to catch up with the boat. It was fine for an overnight, but I wouldn't have wanted to stay there any longer. The restaurant was fair to bad - all fried food, no fresh veggies or fruit, the coffee in the morning was terrible and the English muffin was inedible. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful, the waitress in the restaurant, not so much. The hotel isn't close to anything but a few fast food restaurants. There is a shuttle to the beach, but we didn't go there.
Hotel was clean and comfortable. Staff was helpful and friendly. The location. There's nothing around it anymore as far as tourist attractions. The International Bazaar is basically abandoned so should not even be listed as an attraction any longer. It is close to the airport though, which is good for business travel.
clean, staff helpful, close to restaurants
I have no complaints. I felt as if I was at home, the staff did everything to make my stay excellant. It was a pleasure staying at your hotel keep up the good work.
Staff and Security were absolutely amazing. I had an excellant stay.
