Excellant rooms, very comfortable beds
My wife and I stayed one night at the Fitzwilton. We really enjoyed ourselves. The staff was very helpful and our room was great. Unfortunately, the one night we stayed there, the restaurant was not open, but there were lots of great restaurants within walking distance. We definitely plan on coming back to Waterford and when we do, we'll probably stay at the Fitzwilton again. The parking was pretty rough. I circled through the "parking garage" three times before I finally realized that I was just going to have to cram my car into a space. Glad I got there when I did, because if we had showed up much later, we would have been out of luck.
At €61 for the night, it was great value for money Rooms need deep clean
Room internet service Lack of air conditioning or themoset fan. Very noisy for two nights!!!!
convenience to airport Menu choice in resturant
Excellent location. Bedrooms very comfortable and spotless, welcoming reception staff. Reception staff excellent but other staff in bar & dining room offered average service. Could do with more bar staff. For 4* hotel there should be a better choice of breakfast to include selection of herbal teas
friendly and very helpful the meals where not up to standard
very nice hotels, great staff on reception, always friendy, very proffesional
Staff were very friendly and helpful The windows didnt block out much noise from the streets below.
Size of room and quality of fittings
Quietly efficient, helpful staff, excellent understated Christmas decor, clean, modern but relaxing furnishing. I thought Waterford was very shabby, which is inexcusable given the decade of the Celtic Tiger, the unique history and beautiful location of the city. You should complasin bitterly to the City Council/Chamber of Commerce. Try walking by the quayside, but beware of hundreds of canine I.E.Ds.
Pretty Central. Room was too hot and when we opened the window we got the noise of the traffic.
location and convenience The hotel needs to communicate with guests about changes in reservations
we loved our room so big and comfy and the staff where so helpful when we had a small prob one of the best hotels we ve stayed at this was our fourth time staying there and will be going back again
There is no car parking for guests of the hotel. Guests must pay for parking in a public car park across the street - very poor.
I liked how clean it was and it was very close to the town centre. It also has free parking which was nice. A nice breakfast also. It was quiet also. It was a little dated but that was the only negative.
lovely room, the food snd bar wertr nice--the bar was exciting since the soccer game was playing--nice people. great location
the character of the hotel - old world but with modern comforts.
Friendly staff Carrying luggage over stairs
very clean and well kept, bedroom spacious and warm.hotel in good location and parking available.good value
Room was spacious and comfortable
lovely ambience, very central and delicious breakfast!
Great food, very large and comfortable rooms, and great views from the bedroom window Can hear other bedroom doors closing - suggest some form of gradual closing/dampening
Staff helpful and friendly
We liked the accommodation, the friendliness of the staff, good dinner and breakfast andconsidered it good value for this standard of hotel..
The staff were extremely friendly Bar/lounge was very small
Staff were friendly and helpful and room was very nice and clean. I'd have to say the full Irish breakfast wasn't great, not very nice.
nice room and excellent food a little carelessness in servicing the rooms. eg no hand towels or fresh glasses left on one morning
The friendly staff and the relaxing atmosphere no
The dining experience was very romantic and service was superb. The view from the hotel was beautiful. The price for dinne was very affordable. Our room smelled a little damp, which wasn't too appealing. The large bed was in fact two twin mattresses side by side, which made a crack in the middle. Very small tv, but not a big issue.
Hotel was quiet and relaxed, not large and impersonal. Saturday evening dinner in the dining room - there was a singer/guitarist, very nice touch. NO.
Very friendly, helpful staff. Quiet hotel with nice garden and friendly atmosphere yet 5 minute drive to city centre. Lovely evening meal. Shower curtain rather than glass panel ensured bathroom floor was soaked. Breakfast cold buffet bar was constantly empty and when stocked up, the staff only brought out 3-4 slices of whatever was asked for causing constant queues. (looked like a cost saving measure gone mad). Breakfast charge of €11 too dear if buffet is not well stocked. Service very slow for cooked breakfast (45 mins).
the people working in this hotel where the most homely people i can say i've experienced in travel over a 20 year period .no fuss-no bother. i stayed in the lodges.the gas fire was not in operation and at night we needed something to sit around while it was cold.we bought candles,
Location No hot water in the lodge and the breakfast was very poor while the service was mediocre at best
I found the staff very plesant upon arrival. The bar food was very tasty but expensive. The service at breakfast was very slow. Locking the bedroom door was difficult as the lock was old fashioned
The dinner at the hotel was wonderful. The room we stayed in needed to be updated and a bit cleaner. We fet we were in a dusty old castle room. There was nothing to do there as there were no grounds to walk as the website leads you to believe and there was no spa-its in the plans for development. Very disappointing. Could have skipped this castle as there was also no town to see since the Waterford Crystal company closed.
it was scenic , and centrally located, the facilities were adequate but there was no elevator and for people in their 70s 80s thats unacceptable at best this hotel is a 3 star hotel. old , outdated, the ritz carlton was less than half the price and by far , superior
The location is fantastic and so is the building.
Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, good location, cosy and warm, clean Eating a little expensive, menu limited. Shower in room over bath, not very nice.
Great special off this site. Value for money! Suite we stayed in was brilliant!
It's just a beautiful, small and intimate place to stay. The room we stayed in was immaculate with beautiful furniture and a view of the river. Not sure if they gave us an upgrade or not but it was a suite and it was a great value for the price we paid. We had dinner in the bar and the food and the service of the dining staff were great. It was a treat for us. The price of the 5-course meal was on the high side (65 Euros). We would have considered if it was under 50 Euros. However we ended up with a great meal ordering from the bar menu.
The friendliness of all the staff , the food, the surroundings, the comfort. nothing
staff friendly, breakfast was nice and evening meal was good food. Location was good and we got a space in car park the rooms were in need of a good decoration. In our room 147 the hot tap was not working correctly when you turned on the tap it was boiling hot and when you showered the floor was flooded. Only one shampoo and one shower gel for two people which was a bit poor. Overall room was disappointing as the bar and lobby were very nicely done
The location just in front of the Tower, symbol of the city, gives a good starting point to the city centre and the visit (well worth it) at the Waterford Crystals just few steps away. Continental breakfast was really poor, compared with other hotels with same star rating
The food was excellent and at a decent price too, the leisure centre was nice. The reception, bar and resteraunt all look modern and clean I thought for a 3 star hotel the room was small and looked quite dated a big crack running down the wall and coving was coming away from the ceiling, The bed was quite hard and the fact that one of the pillows was rubber/plastic covered was disturbing
the most helpful staff and the food bed was most comfortable no
Nice rooms, large bathroom space, very clean Right in the heart of town -walking distance to everything I wanted to see
the room was too warm and no air con
A well located hotel ideal for visiting Waterford.Good clean facilities
The room was ridiculously hot and despite keeping the window open all night, I couldn't sleep because of the heat. The radiators were not on.
The hotel's location was great and the reason we booked it. The bar and restaurant were nice. The breakfast was lovely. Leisure facilities were great. The room looked very tired and in need of a lick of paint. The paint on the ceiling of the bathroom was actually peeling off. Our room was over the bar on the first floor. With the smoking area directly underneath our window, we could smell the smoke which drifted up. No air conditioning in the room, we had to ask for a fan. Quite noisy with the weekend entertainment directly under us over the weekend. Furniture in the room was poor, some of the draws were coming apart or didn't close without fiddling with them. No pillow slip for the spare pillows.
The rooms were comfortable clean and ideal for our purposes Early morning noise from guests returning to their rooms
It was easy and relaxing
The rooms were quiet and comfortable. The selection of Hot chocolate and biscuits as well as tea or Coffee provided in the room was nice. I was a solo traveller and would have used room service but the €5 charge for a tray to have a sandwich seemed high.
The cleanliness and understanding of the room service
friendly staff, comfortable, clean, great atmosphere especially in bar, good food except fried eggs. fried eggs need cooking on demand not left to go like rubber
I found the staff friendly and very helpful. We were a group of six in total, and ate in the bar each evening but found that the food was very slow to be delivered, even though it was very tasty.
The room was very clean, the staff were very friendly and the food was very good. Overall, excellent value for money Everything was fine
reception staff were exceptional restaurant staff were rude and dismissive. Lovely room lovely hotel BAD weather :-( the kettle was not working and was a pain as we needed hot drinks in the night and morning due to the snow.
The food was superb. 5 stars Everythin was spot on
Staff are very friendly and professional. Good selection of food in the bar.
stay was short but i would recomend to friends building site beside
It was the usual Travelodge standard which we are used to in England apart for the very poor quality of the mattress on the double bed We were too tired to complain or move rooms It,s situation next to aMacdonalds did not help to get agood night,s sleep as it was noisy
Comfort and value for money No
facilities surrounding the travel lodge No dustbins outside
we stayed for a girls night in the city & it was perfect. Basic, clean & a great price for a quick stop over. when we entered the room first after check-in there was a strong musty smell in the room but once we heated the room with the radiator it went away.
the hotel was well situated for the town and we were pleased to find that our dog was welcome.
the way everyone was so helpful especially maria she was such a good kind person it was a great experience!
The staff was polite. The facility that I stayed at was of poor quality....the room as very basic, the furniture seemed to be worn and had been used for a long period of time.
Good parking, friendly staff, shopping facilities nearby, payphone available at hotel at reasonablle rates. The facilities at this Travellodge appear to have been recently renovated good clean bathroom good basic facilities.
It is convenient for visiting family in the are and known to us and we to the staff. The room (no. 20) was very dark because there is a return wall a few feet outside the window. On the other hand it shields the room from road noise so it's not all bad.
The staff were very helpfull with information
the facilities of the the pool and the nice bar made our stay very comfortable no complaints
good lesiure centre nothing
comfortable room, pleasant staff, nice big car park.
The staff were very good, have to give Ellen on the reception desk a mension. She was really helpful in every way.
very quite and relaxed - loved the leisure centre! the staff were also brilliant in the bar reception and the leisure centre! When we got there we got a smoking room but were too tired to complain and have to be moved.
I like the fact that it was close to but not actually in the City and that it we had a very relaxing weekend staying at the hotel
didn't like the brown water out of the hot tap in the bath and the bar food was awful!!
The staff The shower is too close to the wall
Really enjoyed the hotel and staff were very pleasant. Lovely and clean. Used the pub restaurant and food was great. Also used the pool with the children who really enjoyed it.
The welcome by reception staff and thier willingness to accomodate our needs on our late arrival. Nothing
we recieved a prompt, efficent and very friendly service and were made to feel very welcome
staff lovely, most comfortable hotel, amazing view and very clean
Very good breakfast It needed a lick of paint and wardrobe smelt of damp. The second room we had booked for my father the shower head was broken and you had to hold it.
Price meant it was good value
lovely friendly staff. informative, helpfull, but not in your face. perfect place to stay.
Very comfortable beds, clean bathroom and delicious breakfast. We had a quiet and relaxing experience. The distance from restaurants and shops was a bit les than desirable.
Very friendly and helpful staff, clean and tidy, excellent cooked breakfast. Internet available. I arrived early and was able to check in. The hostel self catering facilities were also good. I would highly recommend it.
Friendly staff, clean comfortable room.
For the nights I was staying in Waterford it was perfect as we had an ensuite room. The room was only going to be used for sleeping anyways so the price was ideal for us. We enjoyed our stay.
Built in a nice old building, 5 minutes walk to the heart of Waterford City centre. Staff are friendly and efficient. A variety of breakfasts were available. Private parking is available. Last breakfast is at 9.45am, and checkout is at 10.30am, which I thought a bit too early.
Of all the places we stayed in Ireland this was the most expensive and the worst. Handy location but this was the only thing it had going for it. Small room and far too expensive for what we got.
Close to town centre, just behind Guiness Brewery& free Wi-fi No tea & coffee in rooms, but available in lounge. long walk to some rooms & not too ideal if you want a drink in a morning before dressing
