Staff was great...rooms taken care of...great breakfast...nice overall experience...bathrooms in room fantastic. I would recommend to others. No hot tub...pool a tad small for facility size...beach further than stated..
Location Nice pool Odor of room's carpet Lack of towels and accessories for quantity of people in room
Beautiful lighthouse behind the hotel. Rooms were clean. Staff was friendly. Nice size bathroom with shower head. The pull out sofa had white mold growing on the bottom of it. The room also had a funny smell the first day we were there. I prepaid through Kayak but the hotel tried to charge me the full room rate when I was checking out (over $115 more than I originally paid).
Key Lime Martini!! I liked our Waiter (Cheryl)@Butterfly restaurant and Bartender@ Tiki (Styphon)... Too much attention to what one can't do!!! Makes a coldness about the place, to be soo nice.
Beautiful property, large rooms, full kitchen, balconies off each bedroom and back porch off living room. Incredible sunset views from beach. Huge, family-friendly pool with exquisite landscaping. Awesome workout facility. Need mats inside back door, the tile floors were very slippery. Housekeeping does not come daily. I would have liked to have the beds made and floors swept daily.
Great Position, and very nice accomodation, beautiful grounds. Nearby, Steak and Lobster restaurant worth a visit, proper American food at reasonable prices Service charges and Taxes jack up the already hefty costs. Beach Bar chaged $5 for a very small fruit juice for the children PLUS 18% service. Kitchen ware not very comprehensive, lack of furniture in lesser bedrooms.
Nice rooms, beautiful pools, etc No possibility to print out check-in documents, very unfriendly staff. No reaction on complaints
The 2-bdrm beach house was charming, immaculate, very comfortable and spacious. The beach was very nice and quite large. The Butterfly Cafe on the premises was an excellent restaurant. Our neighbors were playing some loud music. It stopped after about an hour, so we never complained.
The resort had excellent facilities for self catering and a restful holiday. Beautiful grounds, spacious villas - we had a 3 bedroom villa for a family of four, which would easily have slept 6 and 8 at a push. No, we loved everything
We loved our condo, the proximity to the pool and beach, the grounds, and the Tiki Bar!
Great! Beautiful accomodations. Nice facility! Odd smell out by beach
I enjoyed the peace and quiet! We've stayed at Tranquility Bay before, so I knew what to expect. Our room was clean and fresh each day. More eating spots or hidden away vending machines...
We stayed there for one night with another couple. We enjoyed it so very much and will be returning. It is more beautiful than we had all expected. Great bang for the buck!
Very peaceful, lots of grounds, it doesn't have the feel of lots of people on property. An adults pool. Several different areas on the property to relax - adult pool, lagoon pool huge beach for the keys Yes - the room did not have a few things that should be standard in the room - glassware, toaster It took several calls to the front desk, an approach to a housekeeping person and then finally a walk to the front desk - 3 hours to get 4 little glass's for the room.
Staff was friendly. Rooms were nice. Bathroom was updated. Free wifi. Pretty much everything was spot on. Not a luxury place but great for the price Couldn't get the wifi to work.
The hotel was terrible, the bathroom was dirty. Te air conditioner didn't work. There was no parking I had to park outside the hotel. I was a terrible experience I will not recommend this hotel to anyone
Very clean and well staffed. Nicks and dimed you for activities that are normally included in the "resort fee" at comparable resorts
We upgraded to a Junior Suite when we arrived and were very happy with the room. Layout was great, we had a great view. It was too cold to utilize the pool or any of the outdoor dun stuff. While it deterred us, there were from crazy people laying by the pool in Parkas! Food was great - we only ate the breakfast Buffet Were got there around 8is, we were looking for something light to eat and a couple of drinks. When we sat down we were handed to Alma restaurant menu which is their fine dining restaurant. We were told that they took away the bar menu. Only other thing I noticed was that the gym was way to small. Felt claustrophobic and like they had just shoved every piece of equipmen that they could into this little tiny room.
Staff was great and very helpful. We stayed in a marina villa. It was perfect for our family of 5 (3 adult children) plus grandmom! The kitchen was well equipped, full size fridge and dishwasher. There was a washer and dryer in the second bathroom. The men loved the accessibility to fishing/ charters. The women loved the spa. The location of the resort is perfect. We could venture out to Islamorada(20-25 minutes) and get to Key West (1:15-20) too. Marathon is very close and you have access there to gas stations and grocery stores. There were planned activities everyday for all ages, although they usually cost extra. The wifi was very spotty despite having a router in the villa. Room service was a bit rude and unaccommodating. We only ordered once, so maybe it was just one person that left a bad taste. It would have been helpful to have some sponges/dish towels in the kitchen along with a few basics like salt and pepper and coffee filters.
Everything fun under the sun different zones for different vibes you want to feel tranquility pool for adults only, 24 hour pool for the entire family, kids play zone with pirate slide waterworks, with additional pool, beautiful property, free trams The valet (Dwight) was rude and standoffish. Georgina at the breakfast buffet was straight nasty and just needs to be fired after basically scolding my child, or have additional "training" I think the Dolphins could have done a better job dealing with the guests
Great location isolated on a key, but close to other cities. There is plenty to do - snorkel, scuba, tennis, parasail, fish, or hang out on the great grounds. The facilities are well laid out, with family and adult only areas. It was a bit pricey but we booked late for the holidays. The food onsite was good but not excellent. You are very close to other restaurants though in Marathon and Islamorado.
The resort is thoughtfully layed out. The location is great. House keeping service was great. In my 3 day stay, I only ate at the resort. I got the worst food poisoning. I believe it was the Mediterranean platter poolside. I advised the reception desk and they just said they were sorry. No management followed up with me. For that I will not go back.
Nice and quiet place.Staff was great, clean and updated rooms. The lagoon looks awesome on the picture, but in reality is a small pond, not even kids can swim there. This picture is a joke .Room was 250$ which ok,plus 85$ taxes and other fees and on the top 45$ resort fee.(we didnt take any extras).Nobody expect 380$ for one night.
My family and I absolutely love this resort this is our second year coming here. I can't think of a single thing I would change. The staff is great and everyone is always smiling at Hawks Cay. Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great family vacation.
Location, scenic, quiet Ageing facility, Wi-Fi coverage
Marathon provided a base for escaping to Key West and offered the Dolphin Research Center, the Turtle Hospital and it isn't that far from the Everglades. The food in Marathon is exceptional. Every time we went out for lunch or dinner, the establishments met or exceeded our expectations. Great hotel.
Great breakfast, restaurant, and lounge. Very clean Everything was great
Very clean. Friendly staff.
Good value for a hotel room in the Keys. Extra money for a suite definitely worth it.
Nice property with clean rooms. Great spot to see sunset and a very nice large pool. Beach is small rocky and too close to Marina. Beach too close to Marina. Property really for boater transients so mainly older retired people.
The outside was ok the rooms, were not nice at all.... Did not like the room, it had an uncoftably strong huminity smell and the wall paper was coming off due to the mold between the wall and the paper, also the shower was cloged and very uncoftable to use,
It was very expensive for the quality - room not to clean - staff not very nice. The site was also the most horrible in the Keys, in not recommend the city of Marathon in the Keys.
hotel is old, with very little amenities.
Very close to seafood center of Marathon. Good value for location. Nope. Well just that they need to be a clearer on their "beach" Its really a coral rock bulkhead
Grounds are nice despite needing some maintenance. Direct access to marina. Cute but minimal room decor. Understaffed. Front desk manager rude and incompetent. Room not serviced prior to arrival or for entire length of stay. Expect to be told by the front house manager that you're lying about room issues, especially if requesting your room to be serviced, needing towels or amenities. Aggressive mosquitos on the grounds, in the hallways, and especially in the rooms, so the room patios are useless. No pool/water activity towels, so expect to hoard bath towels in your room. Contrary to the hotel's sales pitch from their reservation agents at B Hotels, there are no bikes included with your resort fee. In fact, absolutely nothing is provided for your resort fee. Overpriced for the quality of accommodations and extreme lack of service. Feels like a cheap motel that was nicely renovated, but kept the same staff and same poor level of service (read: none).
Rooms were updated, clean and comfortable. Property is run down and in need of updateing and cleaning.
The cleanliness of the hotel, knowledgeable and quick response from staff. The maid service was excellent, they brought fresh towels, and coffee as requested. Beautiful interior decoration, soft beds and very soft pillows. Breathtaking view from pool! I would have given all 10 stars but be aware that they add on a credit to your room for about $75 extra charge which I was not aware of until it was time for payment. The 'credit' is for bar tab, food, etc.
Location and Pool. Great staff. I see new hotel growing pains here and there Housekeeping needs to understand elevator needs to be cleaned also. Wife got food poisoning at hot breakfast. Mine also was not good...and it was not free.

The room was clean & new. The pool area was really nice with a good bar. The server provided excellent service. The fireplace outside the dining area was a good place to hang out and also the small beach area . Overall the stay was very memorable
The best hotel I ever lived. Several days passed, but the bright feeling from that hotel is still fresh in my mind.mordern, delighted, and perfect location. no.
Lives up to its 3 star rating. No
Very beautiful décor and furnishings. Great pool and outdoor area with great views, hammocks. Lovely place. No it was great.
Great stay. Beautiful view from the pool area. Pricey food list. No complimentary breakfast. Even coffee is pricey and not free.
The hotel was very clean and had really nice decorations. The front desk people gave us good recommendations for the area. We loved our spacious room. Everything was laid out perfectly. The pool area is beautiful. We were disappointed that we couldn't access the beach/ocean.

I liked the location the office staff was very rude
Very clean quaint old style Florida rooms!! Love the screened in porch to sit and relax on! Will definitely stay again and again! Great tile floors just have to watch any baby walking or crawling
Location and the large queen mattress was awesome! Cost of the boat slip and trailer parking.
great size room for the $. housekeeping could have paid a little more attention to the details, like the goo on one of the bedspreads. but other than that it was ok.
Comfortable bed, has kitchen, microwave, fridge WiFi cooking utensils, next to some waterway. Front desk lady dark skin was very nice fast service Tv was small only in one room and first entering room it smells like bleach
Not a thing Windows were missing glass, a/c didn't work (and it's the middle of summer!) Animal feces all over the floor. Dirty stained towels. They put us in the wrong room and when we complained they said "oh well, we're completely booked". No housekeeping in 5 days... They refused to give any money back or compensate us in any way. WORST hotel, WORST staff. Ruined our honeymoon!
Charming old resort hotel with unique architecture, a boat dock area, and pool. Our room had a nice screened porch (Florida room) and a little kitchen area and we were able to park at our door. We were only there one night and didn't use the pool. We were able to brave the highway crossing on foot to have breakfast at a nice little diner.
Cute little front porch with a spacious room with two double beds and a refrigerator. Beds were very comfortable and seemed clean. I would definitely stay here again. A little mold in the bathroom shower and a little smell on entry into the room.
waterfront Bad wifi
i liked the facilities provided to us, Kitchen etc was ready to use and the cleanliness of the room WiFi connectivity was horrible.
Location was good. It was on the cheaper side for spring break. Well, like they say... You get what you pay for. Pool closes at 10. Rooms looked like a 10x10 cell with converter blocks painted hospital white. Minimal customer service. "Coffee on the dock" was a Themis of coffee that was put out at 7am and empty by 730am. Office doesn't open til 8, so that gave us plenty of time to wait for the refill.
I spent a night in this hotel in room 125 and from the get go it was not a good experience. The room was not clean, the staff at the front desk was borderline rude. The next morning the toilet was spilling water from underneath when flushed and we were not able to use it. They gave us a room with an electrical stove (we did not ask for it) and the stove was extremely dirty and the microwave was rusted inside. We paid $144 for this place and with a couple of extra $40 could have booked a much better and cleaned hotel room. Bottom line, we packed our things and left asap. Do not recommend this place.
The charms of their one room cottages and th private feel. The pillows were very uncomfortable
Spacious place. Prices are very good. Shower head is too LOW!
The staff was nice and everything was ready. The fire alarm started to beep at 5am Because it wanted batteries. I could not turn it off.
great idea, floating rooms by the pier and beautiful view of the bay near marathon, if you like fun unique places and don't care about luxury it's a great affordable place near key west
Nothing Mosquitoes every where, dirty rooms, no lights in room, dirty all over the room, poor quality service, poor quality tv and out dated, no wifi, no breakfast, towels in very bad condition as well as bed clothings, bugs in bed and in rooms, food stuck on cling lamps, it had missing light bulbs, mildew on ceiling and walls. Terrible stay, I could go on, not even 1 star...
Nice hotel, big rooms, terrasse, pool area, free breakfast offered (which was good), nothing to complain about.
Check in was easy. Check out was easy. A nice clean quiet beach was about five minutes down the street, and a Kmart and grocery store was at the corner. The bartender was friendly and had decently priced drinks. Parking was easy. The desk staff was impatient and rude when there was more than one customer in the lobby. I couldn't believe the way they talked to people on the phone. I had to come back to the front desk about an hour after checking in and the lady didn't even remember me and treated me like I was a nuisance. They require a photocopy of your credit card when you check in. The rooms had mold on the bathroom ceiling and the carpets felt mildewed and were stained, and the lighting was minimal and dingy. My room was ony fully serviced one night. The second night they only took trash and left no clean towels and the last two nights there was no service at all. There is no night attendant or phone in the room. The wifi works but it took me asking the bartender to get the correct password. Cost was cheap but I wish I'd sucked it up and spent more at a cleaner and more hospitable hotel. Luckily I spent all my time outside at other places. Fyi, there's no marina there, and it's FAR from being a resort.
Staff . AC in MB was nice and cold. Plenty of hot water. Close to the Tri event we went there in the first place. Great view of the canal and the boats AC in LR was minimal. Rug was badly stained and torn. Condo unit was sorely missing basic kitchen items. Not enough towels. Place needs major renovation
We enjoyed the location of Sombrero hotel and the free use of their boat ramp and trailer parking they offer to guests. The marina is about a 30 minute ride from Sombrero Reef Light. Some of the property appeared to be occupied by extended stay patrons that enjoyed settling their domestic problems at midnight over a few too many drinks. Some nights were less than restfull. We got our money worth from the stay. Not unhappy.
The pool was decent enough, and the room was newly renovated the breakfast was insuffient
Nothing--dingy overvalued for the money. The rooms are spartan. Was alll night busy noisy a/C. The worst night I ever spent in a motel.
Cleanliness and roominess. Staff was very cordial.
I loved the kichen and space. The front door opened to a wide canel with beautiful sailboats and yachts tied up. I loved the view. Nice breeze. 2nd floor so I could the stairs. Elevator slow. They are renovating, for the next year. From 8:30am to 5:30/6pm. First morning out my front door using a lift to get to roof, which beeped anytime it moved up or down. Last night came back to room to change at 5pm and they were jack hammering my patio.
I liked the size of the rooms and the kitchen being available , the AC.., daily breakfast... The " privilege fee" that we were charged , the quality of kitchen appliances, the unkind mumbling of the breakfast lady when cleaning after the guests who did not tip , the TV remote hardly working ...I would rather lose the breakfast and privilege fees and pay less next time. Thank you.
We have gone to Sombrero off an on for the last 16 years. This time it seems lacking on maintenance on the rooms. (glass separating from slider door frame--dangerous) Late in the day you want to use the pool to cool off and relax, employees show up with lots and lots of kids, not good if you are paying to relax and swim. Our most disliked factor of the stay was the pool problem. Otherwise it was nice but we found another place that we feel will be suitable for our next stay in the keys.
The Sombrero staff was courteous and our room was totally clean....wonderfully comfy beds! The only view from our balconies was of other buildings, but this was not an issue for us. We were only in our room when we were not at Fantasy Fest.
Location & amenities Little high in price for quality Under construction created less parking Long line for check out, should simplify
Easy check in, simple parking, very clean room, and friendly staff. No breakfast.
clen, comfortable, frriendly staff a/c very noisy, unable to use at nightime
For a car-trip the hotel is perfectly situated on the middle-island, not too far from Key West. Servieminded personell and fresch room. Comfortable beds and clean bathroom. All good! Remember that taxes of around 12% is added on the roomprice. This is for all hotels in all of us.
Reasonably priced. Close to one of the nicest beaches in the keys: Sombrero Beach. A small table to seat outside (for example to have breakfast)
Very friendly and quiet, perfect stop before Key West No facilities, but close to shops and restaurants
Very clean, nice room. Very kind staff
It was old Florida. Like it has been since the 1950's, but clean and well-maintained. The kids liked the pool. We liked that it had a fridge and nice area outside to eat.
I like the fact that the hotel was a short ride to the beach.
Room was neat and clean and smelled "fresh!" Felt very safe and comfortable.
Clean and conveniant
The first impression of the motel was the friendliness and helpfulness of the front desk person, Lacey. The room was very nice and comfy. I would also recommend the restaurant/bar down the road, The Hurricane Grille.
