Had to wait in the lobby on our only sunny day there to continually dispute their tries at transferring us to another hotel despite our wishes to stay with this hotel, the hotel we booked 11 days prior and called three hours before to confirm that all was ready. We called three hours in advance only because we had read reviews online that the hotel chain called Cinnamon Hotels which Chaaya Tranz Hikkaduwa is a part of, often over books their locations and tries to excitedly "upgrade" guests to a different hotel, despite their wishes. After continual disputes making our long start at the hotel extremely unpleasant, especially after a long day of travelling, we were finally given a room. After that point, we enjoyed our stay, the beautiful views, the pleasant staff, and beachside.
Everything.... location...food and staff were all brilliant
The hotel is situated beside the busy road from Colombo to Galle...However once you enter the hotel its calm & serene inside. There is a nice dining area near the beach..the food from hotel is a bit overpriced...There are also lots of nearby restaurants..like the ranjiths sea side dining...Beware of mosquitoes...mosquito nets are provided in the room...the manager was helpful in arranging a packed breakfast as we had to leave to Mirissa for a early morning Whale watching...There is a small pool inside..wifi is available though signal strength is less..there is no intercom..but never mind the reception is nearby...
After taking a beach walk over the Hikkaduwa Beach, Suite Lanka has the best beach front setup: clean, open, romantic, and well serviced. We took the deluxe room and had our own terrace overlooking the Indian Ocean. The staff was generally welcoming. The food was excellent and the chef is very flexible to fulfill all tastes. location is close to city yet away from noise and beach boys. We had a major conflict with the manager of the hotel as he wanted to add taxes (70$) after agreeing that the price was inclusive. you have to be very clear on the fact that they can change their word. at the end he appologiezed and gave us a bag of tea. the staff english was not the best. don't expect too much from sri lanka, just enjoy the experience
