The staff were amazing, the best hotel staff I have come across in Australia
The reception staff were very friendly and efficient coupled with the room service staff who were professional, courteous and friendly. With many people at breakfast it was obvious the staff had difficulty coping with large queues, tables not set properly, inattentive staff.
Separate tub and shower. Separate beds available and view. Ease and immediacy of taxis. Free wifi
Great hotel location affording some rooms great views. Excellent bathrooms, comfortable beds. Lots of people obviously love it - maybe it helps if you upgrade to the Horizons Club, though I don't see why you should have to, especially as these rates not always on offer. Reception shambolic: no welcome, no porter, no offer of help with bags, no offer to join loyalty programme, told me the Shangri-La in Singapore is tired and needs updating! No apology for not correctly processing reservation. Horrible view of motorway toll booths. Annoying things in the bedroom like unplugged lamps, missing glasses, grubby hotel directory. Food and beverage not good. Saturday night the locals all book up the top floor restaurant and fill up the adjacent bar. Reserve days in advance or you have no chance. For a drink this leaves the Lobby Bar. Neon-lit chilled food cabinet, no music, no atmosphere, bright lighting. Nasty. Only available food outlet The Cafe. Horrible buffet. Dreadful, expensive, over-rated.
Breakfast buffet was sumptuous.

The hotel was within a reasonably short walk to the harbor bridge, yet also within walking distance of other attractions (like Chinatown which was a great place to visit during the Chinese new year festivities). In particular, the staff was very helpful. The concierge made a great recommendation for a hole in the wall (Chat Thai) and one of the women at the front desk went out of her way to help me plan things to do over my 3 day stay. I really appreciate that they took the time for me. The room was also nice (but it was the most expensive room I booked during my stay in Australia). My recommendation is to do your research and most importantly book early. After I booked I saw room prices skyrocket as I got closer to my travel dates, but that might have been unusual due to it being the Chinese New Year, or maybe there was some other event that took up all the rooms. I wouldn't have been willing to pay as much the room went up to but ~$250 was doable. Flights into Sydney from abroad must all arrive in the early morning. Every day there seemed to be a number of people waiting in the lobby as their rooms weren't ready yet. I understand hotels can't check people in too early, but it would have been great had the hotel been able to get me in before lunch. Instead I found myself roaming the city by foot for a good while.
Amazing way to start the day with amazing breakfast buffet. Giovani is our favorite... Always helping and welcoming. A hard worker with excellent attention to detail The laundry staff needed prodding several times. There were never enough towels in our room and despite several kind notes to remind them, they were ignored. The dining room at dinner should be ignored, as staff was clueless for dinner... But that was transformed for breakfast, which was a highlight.
The food at the hotel is rather expensive....eat out, it's cheaper.

Low floor, dirty windows, bad views, receptionist lied about restaurant open at 10PM, Burger cost $30 plus tip, water in room was $10, room was expensive at about $300/night, no loyalty program with airlines except Qantas, shower was open with no door, no microwave, no real conveniences, small room.
Extra attention. They need to replace the little ottoman in the room with a 2nd chair. The king size pillows are too long and too heavy.
Room very clean and comfortable My second reception experience - arrived early and room not ready. Very helpful chap checked me in, checking photo ID and giving me spa key so I could freshen up after long flight. Promised a text when room ready and promised this would be within 2 hours. Returned from run to see if room ready having not received text in spite of two and a half hours having elapsed. Female receptionist insisting in seeing ID again which seemed utterly superfluous to requirements. When asked why I hadn't received a text she said that the "room has just this moment become ready". Amazing coincidence. ended up being late for an appointment because she was so reluctant to relinquish the key without me having to go and find my photo ID even though it was obvious I had already checked in and knew all the details.
Beautiful room, comfortable bed, great fitness center. Location was exactly what I wanted and needed for a couple of days in Sydney...close to everything! Felt safe, and was treated wonderfully by all staff. I REALLY have an issue with the use of so many plastic water bottles. It is nice to have them in the room for many, I know...and to have them to carry around, as well. But...in the gym? C'mon. Use a filtered water system, or at least have one available so that when you run out of your own water, you can refill it without having to use yet another plastic water bottle. For the cost of the bottles and the disposal, reusable ones could probably be provided to every guest.
The front desk staff sent us a complimentary bottle of champagne to put room because we were celebrating our honeymoon. They even included a very nice personalive card, too!
Location, not too expensive for a 5 star, good restaurant and breakfast buffet. The sheets were too heavy I found, I struggled to get comfortable.
Friendly and helpful staff. Great location, 10 minute walk to the opera house. You can see the harbour bridge from the hotel street. They have FREE money exchange (US dollar to AD dollar). Super convenient.

Simply everything. The hotel is a stones throw away from Circular Quay, and is in walking distance to the iconic Sydney Opera House. There are lots of awesome shopping venues all around; with food galore and convenience stores to choose from. There are several tours that have starting points only steps away; including ferry tours and dinner tours. I highly recommend the harbour view rooms. The view is breathtakingly beautiful. You really can't go wrong with this hotel. Absolutely nothing not to like.

Hotellet ligger mycket bra beläget. Dett är ganska lugnt men mycket centralt. Bra service. Personalen var mycket trevlig och hjälpsam.
The location is great. The hotel is close to everything from shops, supermarket, office, parks, restaurants. The room is spacious and the bed was very comfy. Two towels of 4 were badly washed. They still have some stain in them. Breakfast could use more variety for the price they are charging. Some staffs at the conscious were not friendly.

The hotel is a a great facility and in the middle of downtown Prices in all of Sydyn are extremely high. Parking was outrageous
I liked the central location of the hotel and the staff were friendly and warm. I found it rather surprising that internet was not complimentary as it is a 5-star hotel. The last time I visited Sydney I stayed at Raddison's which I believe is a 4-star hotel and found the stay there on par with Sofitel, a 5-star hotel.
There were loud noises in the morning from the room above and when I called the front desk on multiple occasions I couldn't get an answer, then received a rude explanation that it would be investigated but the noise contributed. After a $2,000 stay, I left a file and was charged to have it mailed to me. I wouldn't recommend the hotel for ease of stay, but it is clean.

things were acceptable for what i needed, there was nothing there that made me happy i stayed there rather than some place else. for a "5 star" hotel it was missing quite a bit. no spa, no pool, restuarants were really just bars with some tables. the staff was a bit snooty. everything in the room and hotel are for sale, and pretty much makes you feel like you are sleeping in an ikea catalog.

This hotel was comfortable and elegant. Staying over new years they gave us free champagne. However parking was overpriced for what we paid for the hotel.
Bed was comfortable. A/C in good working order. Nice size bathroom. Appreciated the toiletries, the fridge, the safe. Excellent lighting both in room and bathroom. It was a bit disconcerting to find hairs in the tub after the room was cleaned.. The desk chair could use refurbishing.

Location This is not a hotel. It's a 1 bed flat (with old style carpet) and definitely does not feel like a high end hotel. Wifi never worked in 4 days despite repeatedly asking to have it fixed. I asked for a plug adaptor and was told to go and buy one (whilst other hotels in Australia always had one for foreign travelers). Breakfast 3 to low 4 star. There are plenty of nice hotels in the area. As a accor platinum card holder as decided to stay there. Never again,
Staff was very friendly and helpful and rom comfortable except for noise. Hotel can be quite noisy. We were on 5th floor and still heard music from a bar. Also, heard noise from a party on our floor.
It was affordable and handy to where we were going, and the bed and bathroom were wonderful! Free movies, bathrobes, pillows, complimentary cookies added to the experience. I had a little mishap, smacking my shin on the wooden base of the bed when walking around the bed, as the base is larger than the mattress (cool design feature) which would be fine, except its the same dark coloured wood as the floorboards! (Made it hard to see in low lighting, and being unfamiliar with the room). Otherwise, it was fabulous!
How close it was to Circilar Quay The back alley to get there was a little smelly...You really need to know where you are going otherwise it would be hard to find.

Love the speakers connected to the radio. The bathroom was also a favorite. The maid knocking at out door at 7 PM to give us a breakfast menu.

Modern look, location, free wifi Poor food choices, no lounge, no outside calling, very small rooms, no room service, less than attentive staff, windows don't open. You may want to ask for a room that does not look out on the atrium. Guests in those rooms have to keep their room-darkening shades down or everyone getting off the elevator will look across at them lying on their bed.
Central location, close to shopping, entertainment, food etc. Additional request included in booking request was not actioned - or even acknowledged. When requested, was acted upon poorly.
The staff were great the location was great. The oven and the dishwasher was covered in mould. We did not use the kitchen as it was very dirty, the bathrrom was not that clean neither.

The location of the hotel was great. The Mantra 2 is located on George St., which is the main street in downtown city. The hotel is located less than three blocks from the Opera house, ferry port, the rocks, and Coles supermarket. What a place, what a staff!

Professionalism of staff. Twinings teabags. Good sound insulation from other rooms. Beeping noise from a nearby garage roller door or something similar. Our room smelt of cigarette smoke and there was an unemptied ashtray on the balcony so we asked to be moved, this was professionally handled by reception desk. Saw one staff member lighting up a cigarette within a metre of front door of hotel one evening, and it is supposed to be a non-smoking hotel.
ordered room service for myself and friends on my 2nd night. The food was so bad I did not eat or drink anything further during my 10 day stay.

The self contained apartments were fantastic. Very comfortable, large and well appointed. Has everything that you will need including own mini laundry (in what looks like a linen cupboard). They appear to be very new. Everything was spotless including furniture, fixtures, carpet etc. Very secure with swipe cards to get in and out. We are always wary about booking sight unseen - but this was lovely There are no views.The hotel is in a little alley - so no foyer or anything. Not very well signed for new guests. Everything is secured by swipe cards and pin numbers so getting into the hotel for the first time to check in isn't laid out in front of you.
It's central City location and the helpfulness of the staff
Convenience to Sydney CBD makes it ideal for national & international tourists and business people. Kitchen and Laundry facilities were a bonus.
Fully fitted kitchen and washign facilities make it the easiest way to manage yourself in such a busy city. An excellent stop with an ideal location for the centre as well as metro and bus routes
We stayed 9 days at Medina Martin Place and we absolutely loved it. We had the best sleep, the bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept on and the blanket was super yummy too. The location is perfect for CBD or exploring the city. The apartment had all possible facilities we needed. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, Warren and Mimi in particular. Highly recommended. Cleaning is up for some improvement. Garbage and towels were taken care of on a daily/ when required basis, but the carpeted floor was quite filthy at the end of our 9 day stay and glass surfaces of furniture were pretty dirty too. Also, our CD player was so old (or substandard?), it couldn't play even brand new CDs.
Easy access & central city location. A good clean property & I liked the fact it is a small sized, boutique property.The one bedroom apartment was just perfect for business & well sized in the overall layout. Would definately recommend & use again
Staff were very helpful & location was excellent The hotel never got my booking from booking.com which was a little stressful but they managed to find me a room. On the upside the staff fixed the problem quite quickly.

It had all the basics of a normal hotel, nothing special. I thought the staff were not very enthusiastic when I checked in. They just seem to be going through the motions.
Close proximity to metro station and that is it. The facility is dirty, Hallways were vacuumed maybe a year or longer away. Large pieces of trash remain in hallway for days. The room service is mediorcre. Literally, they only change towels and straighten the upper most layer of the bed. They do not even tuck the sheets in. They never vacuum the room or wipe surfaces. It is disgusting at this hotel. Cups and glasses used are rinsed. My tea cup remains stained with tea residue that can be easily wiped when I ran my finger over it. When I complained to the front desk, I was told that room service is sourced-out and that is why it is lacking (this is not my problem, I need a clean room). I would never ever ever stay at a travelogue again, and more specifically this hotel at Waynyard. It is very shocking that a hotel which costs a good amount of money is lacking that much.
Bathroom and shower. Shower leaked all over the floor. Both rooms for both stays. There was no exhaust fan to get the steam out.
The location of the hotel in relation to the other venues to which I was required to visit. This is not a dislike, more of an unpleasant observation. The room and corridors had an air of mustiness about them. Maybe as simple as the carpets need cleaning/freshening.

Location was great. No WiFi access in rooms. Seemed to be charged for every little thing. Example: Internet access in the lobby business PCs cost $2 for 15 minutes of internet use.
The location!! It was only a short stroll to all the main attractions. We were not informed about a deposit prior to arriving and so that was an inconvenience for us. Other than that, it was perfect!
