Very good location in town; excellent quality of room for the price. Reception on 1st floor and although all lifts stop briefly there, people not registered at hotel can enter it by lift, bypassing reception. In London, say, this would be a fatal flaw (I once had my room in London entered by burglars in just such a situation). In Kyoto, however, no particular risk is incurred and the door locks were very good. Information about location was not enough to reach the hotel without asking for directions.
localization in city center, nice view over the city, lots of restaurants around, friendly staff, large room maybe only the common bath was missing...
Very helpful staff
Good location, comfortable room, clean and elegant. no wi-fi internet (cable only)
It was a comfortably sized room. Pretty decent location. Check in staff spoke English and check in and check out was a breeze. There are plenty of restaurants near by and the Fresh Mart at the end of the block was great. It was a little hard to find at first.
It is modern, spacious, clean room and very good bathroom. Bed and pillows were excellent. They give me free coffee and free use of internet. I will definitely stay again.
Stayed at 2 Mystays this trip, Tokyo & Kyoto. Good wired/wifi speed, ok bfast, cramp rooms. Equate Mystays to Starbucks, reliable but better bang for the Yen is nearby w/ a bit of research. Richmond in Yokohama was great and 4 star Tokyo deals abound.
the public transportation connection was very good. You could reach all interesting spots within a short time. Inside the room it was too hot and a regulation of the heat was not really possible.
Good location between Kyoto station and city centre Gion street, clean room
Got upgraded to a bigger room, very friendly staff, close to gojo station, good value Location is a bit boring but close to subway
Appearance of the hotel, comfortable rooms, beautiful view from the window, dobrozhilatelny staff, not very delicious Breakfast is served. What, if anything, didn't you like during your stay at Aranvert Hotel Kyoto?
Location and cleanliness. Cramped room for a semi double.
The fantastic architecture with its central atrium around the lobby made it such a tranquil place to return to every day. The gift shop was excellent too, with higher quality souvenirs than most other shops. The mattresses were a bit too firm for us, however this seems to be the case for all the hotels we stayed in. The location is not too bad, however there was nothing of interest close to the hotel, such as restaurants or shops to walk to. The hotel did offer a shuttle bus to the station where there are a few restaurants and shops though.
Good location near the central Kyoto St. The room was comfortable and clean. They asigned us in smoking floor, and the smoking smells was terrible. We asked for a change and they assigned a room two doors beside. Next day they changed yo a better room in other floor.
The first day, they give us a room in the 5 floor, wich is for smoking people. Wen we make a complain, were change for other room in the same floor. Fortuny the nex day we change to the 8 flor, no smoking and with a beautiful japan is stile
The staff, cleanliness, location to the train station. Nothing noted
Nice lobby and facade We had booked a room for two. The bed was what is called "full" in U.S.- adequate for 1 adult to sleep comfortably. Room and bathroom were tiny (even by Japanese standards) - looks nice outside in pictures. For the price, sure there are better hotels in Kyot
Had Public Bath Had Washing Machine Helpful Staff 2nd floor was loud when activities were going on. Our room was on the 2nd floor. Staff tried to help but couldn't move us as it was booked that night, but was helpful in calming down the residents a little.
Everything in this hotel were excelent. Excelent hotel
The staff. Super friendly and willing to assist you. The location was really good. There's a little cafeteria on the bottom floor, which made it very convenient. Even though we stayed at on a non-smoking floor, you could smell cigarette smoke on the hallways.
Great location next to station - a short walk to bus & metro. Very helpful & polite staff. Hotel decor is a little dated.
Very comfy beds and the staff were extremely helpful. The only reason I've rated the comfort as "fair" is because it was excessively hot and therefore difficult to sleep. The air-conditioning, although being able to be turned down to 18 degrees was on heat mode throughout the entire hotel. Then, when it was off in your room, the air was extremely dry. Made the stay a little uncomfortable.
Great location Rooms are old and over-rated, furniture and carpet is dirty. This is a 3 - 3.5 star hotel, not a 4 star.
Location Room size English speaking staff Very clean 3rd bed for a 3rd person is pull out couch & very hard. Although, I was very happy they even had a 3 person room, so it's not that much of a negative.
breakfast expancive, hoor and unteasty
The hotel is perfectly located within the train station. Hotel staff could not be more helpful in checking in and out.
Good location. Convenient to train station. Very comfortable and relaxing. Good restaurants (although a bit pricey).
good location.good service .kindly stuff. small bathroom.
Being next to the station is very convenient. This made it easy to catch the correct bus to all the sites we visited. Unfortunately it is away from the main hub of the city which has more atmosphere. The staff were always friendly and professional. The room was small and the hotel didn't compare well with the accommodation we used in Tokyo which was cheaper. I think the quality of the towels could be improved
good location, cleaness Bad quality of towels
Good, clean hotel. Close to station. Free internet. Bic camera shop is just 5min away.
The location is perfect. The receptionists are very helpful and kind. The room size is pleasant (more then expected due for japanese standards) the bathrooms as usual in Japan is small, but has everything.Nice surprise was the free ticket entrance to Kyoto tower, which I have enjoyed very much. Hotel is perfect for people needing a location closed to station and underground. Even if the hotel was packed with a student group I slept very confortable with no noise at all. Good!! Breakfast should be a little less expensive. I went to the station instead of going to their italian restaurant / caffetteria.
Favorite hotel we stayed at in Japan. Staff was really nice and helpful. The japenese style room was great, set up so nicely. Did not feel like a hotel, very comfortable. Clean room, bathroom was nice, mini fridge in the room, vending machines and coin laundry in the hallway. Public baths were a fun experience. Location is good, lots of shopping near by. Finding the hotel entrance was a little tricky, you need to go down the alley.
The room was very clean, the facilities in the room were good and for a Japanese hotel room was quite spacious (we had a suite). The location was very good, a minute to the nearest subway and only 10 min from Kyoto Train Station
The location of the hotel is just one subway station away from the main kyoto station with several bus lines along the 2 main roads that provides links to other parts of the city. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean and spacious in accordance to japanese standard. The breakfast is adequate for the price paid and there are vending machines for both hot and cold drinks and self service laundrette available within the hotel. There are several restaurants, a McDonald, a small supermarket, a drug store and several convenient stores within walking distance from the hotel too. Overall, it is a good experience staying in this hotel and i will not hesitate to return again when i visit Kyoto again. Nil.
Attentive service staff, easy accessibility to subways in Kyoto, nearby to key tourist spots like Gion District, Shi-jo and not too expensive to take a taxi from hotel to these places due to its close proximity to these places. The apartment provides basic kitchenette facilities as well as complimentary internet access, which are useful to travellers. Nil.
The staff were terrific. Extremely polite, and helpful. The standard and premier rooms were quite small for two adults and a child, particularly the bathroom facilities. We upgraded to a one bedroom apartment which was more suitable. The beds were a little hard for us, but doona etc was great.
Excellent facilities in the room - LAN (and cableing for it), kitchenette etc. Just up from the station and walking distance to the market. TV has slots for usb/SD so we could re-live the day!
Room was large, clean, and comfortable. Lobby of hotel was also very nice. It was a little far walking to downtown.
I truly enjoyed staying in this hotel-apartment and already look forward to when I can return here again. -
Location to Kyoto station is great. Room was pretty clean, staff spoke pretty good English. Housecleaning did a nice job. Tight layout of room. Staff had no English subway or bus map, but many other places did. Bathroom had a hairball between cabinet and sink. Hard to notice, which is why I'm sure it wasn't taken care of earlier. Elevator was frustrating at times.
Nice hotel, very friendly staff and very clean. Difficult to find - not signed Kyomachiya OR Ryokan and looks like any other building on the street.
Friendly staff who provided a very warm and welcoming experience. The maintain a beautiful, relaxing, and clean ryokan. It was not central enough--a good 25-30 minute walk to get to downtown, Kyoto. But it was close to the train station.
Excellent location for us! The staff was amazing and so helpful translating and giving tips .... they helped with taxi and even to order takeout .... traditional Japanese style lodging made us feel right at home... however if you are expecting five star hotel comfort, this is not the place for you... futon traditional style beds and tiny bathroom... but we loved the experience
very nice traditional japanese room, very friendly and helpful staff n.a.
Nice place, friendly staff, close to Kyoto train station and several temples within walking distance. A little far from Gion - which is where the nightlife and restaurants tend to be - but the regular buses help there.
Good location not far from Kyoto's train station. Nice and affordable Japanese style experience! This is a bit tiny for a Western guy (especially the bathroom) but it's fun. Great and helpful staff.
Small cozy hotel, conveniently located in a nice area a 15 minute walk from the Kyoto train station. Priced a little high for the rather simple room.
Most of the staff can speak good English and are able to provide good information about the city. I stayed in the Japanese style room alone but I think is is spacious enough for 2 person. It is much bigger than those budget hotels I had stayed in Toyko and Osaka. There is a bath tub which is good for me as I did a lot of walking in Kyoto. It provided a warm comfort to me every night after I returned to the Ryokan. The Ryokan is not exactly near to the Kyoto Station. It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk there. If you are carrying a lot of luaggages, I would suggest you take a bus there whichi is 2 bus stops away.
