Conveniently located on river walk and next to mall. Room was outdated for the premier hotel in Eugene
The decor, the staff, and the chef. Best food I've ever had at an American hotel.
Room service food was excellent. We shared the steak dinner and a Cobb salad. The beef was terrific as was the salad. Even though the hotel is about 45 years old, the room was newly renovated. The furnishings and decorations were very nice. Our only complaint was the bed was harder than is comfortable for us. Other than that, great stay.
This is one of the older luxury hotels that has been wonderfully maintained. Spacious and beautiful with all the amenities you could want. Gracious staff and the restaurant and lounge were perfect!
Sitting by and swimming in the pool was wonderful! And our meals on the deck by the river were excellent!
If you buy a room on an online site the Valley River Inn takes away all amenities. No breakfast, etc.. Also when the staff see's your online rate their attitude completely changes to the negative. Restaurants food was very poor and very expensive.
Everything was great and my weekend there made going back to the real world a little better :) That I couldn't stay longer
Great hotel service staff, very friendly and accomadating! Clean rooms. Comfy bed & pillows. Beautiful scenery by the river. Love the smell of cinnamon pine cones in the hallway. Enjoyed the pancake breakfast in the restaurant. Hotel was quiet & pleasant. Can't beat the location--walking distance to food & shopping. Great stay especially for price. I personally love a mini fridge in hotel rooms and would have preferred it if the rooms had one. Also service in restaurant, although friendly was very slow and there was hardly any diners. Plug in on lamp didn't work & I didn't realize it so i awoke to a dead cell phone instead of a fully charged one. Like most hotels, there is a lack of convenient electrical outlets for charging devices. still Enoyed stay and would stay again.
Restaurant waitress Laura. Extremely pleasant and professional. The kitchen did a good job. The size of the room. The bath towels, hand towels and wash cloths. They should have been discarded 2 years ago. The worst I have seen. Was told by the guest service agent at check out that they just renovated the rooms. It was not in the budget. Dust on the night table. The GM is not doing his job.
I thought the location of the hotel was excellent. The restraint in the hotel was so good that we didn't eat anywhere else during our trip. We loved it here and will come back in the future.
I made a mistake on my reservation and accidentally booked for one week later than I had intended to be in town. Valley River Inn said "no problem" and they changed my reservation to that be night instead of the date one week out. I know that if they were booked solid they wouldn't be able to accommodate me but the front desk staff acted like it was not a big deal and that people make those mistakes all the time. I really appreciated the "customers always right" approach they took. pool and hot tub close at 10pm (which is fair considering many rooms look out to the pool and it wouldn't be nice to have loud noise coming from the pool area when you're trying to sleep.)
Vintage 60"s architecture, condition of facilities and cleanliness, riverside food and bar service, friendly and efficient staff.
We have been coming to Eugene for the last two years because our son goes to school there. This is the first time we stayed at the Inn and loved it. We met the owner Brian in the elevator and he graciously welcomed us and made us feel at home. Everyone who worked there was truly welcoming and struck up a conversation with us. The rooms were spotless. Very highly recommended.
Loved everything about this hotel. The room was very large with a sitting area dining area and a very large bathroom with double sinks! The room also had a working fire place and a very comfortable bed! The room was exceptionally clean and we didn't want to leave. The feel of the hotel is luxurious as soon as you walk in the lobby. The outside does not do the hotel justice. Absolutely worth the value. There seemed to be a train beat by and we could hear the horn several times during the night.
Staff were very accommodating. Allowed for very early check in and we used their complimentary car service multiple times. Would definitely come back. Nothing.
The staff were great and gave me some very helpful advice. The restuarant on site was very nice and the steak they served was amazing. The TV in the room was very large. The bed wasnt very firm
The friendly staff gave us an upgrade to a corner room and it was very spacious. The bed was wonderful and the coffee in the room was better than what they served in the restaurant!! Nice fridge and coffee pot in the room. The updates were all nice too! When I booked online, they didn't state the extra charges. Parking - $17 per night, Pet fee - $50 and the restaurant food was spendy too! If I had been aware of these fees, I would have been able to compare rates better with other hotels. Other than that, I would have given this place a 5.
I got charged $19 for parking. Unaware this would be the case.
Location Stinky hall,no shower curtain,TP holder improperly installed, uninformed staff
It is located at almost the center of downtown and you can simply walk to almost anything. The standard king size room I was given was nice and clean as well. I am fine with almost everything except with how Hilton and the staff handled my situation with the room. I originally booked the King Executive Jr suite. However, when I got there, they said there was a problem with the toilet in the room that they sold it to me. As a result, I was only given the choice of a double queen room or a standard King size room. I asked about other King exec suites but they said they cannot change to others. I then asked about the big price difference between the available rooms and if I can be compensated or refunded in anyway. They said they can't refund and they simply gave me a coupon (worth 35 dollars total for 2 people) for breakfast and free parking that is worth like 20 dollars. I was then put into a stand King room. Totally a joke. Super disappointed on how they dealt with my situation.
Great location, friendly and helpful staff, tidy and clean, upgraded finishes, nice place. The trains....
We locked up our bikes. By morning someone had cut our chain and stole my husband 1,000 mountain bike. Will NEVER stay here again. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone.
The staff was very friendly and helpful Great location Did not get the sense of clean. The mattress was broken kept falling into the middle my back and neck hurt in the morning. Needs a total remodel.
The whole place was nice and clean and very cute! The rooms were modern and the staff friendly. The location was near many restraunts and activities. Also, the location was an easy commute to the interstate making it easy to get around the local area as I traveled around daily. This place seemed to attract a younger and unfortunately a louder crowd. I experienced next door neighbors that were incredibly loud and carrying on into the early morning hours. Nobody wants to be kept awake all night or have to confront rowdy neighbors! Also the fitness center left something to be desired. It was outdated and tiny. It would be fairly unmaneuverable if there were more than 2 people in there.
Very convenient to downtown, once Whole Foods opens across the street, it will be even better!!!
Hot tub was out of operation and appeared to have been that way for a while. The bath tub drain was clogged thus the water pooled up while taking a shower. Stains on carpet and chairs. Over all cheap feel to rooms.
We always stay at Campus Inn when we pass thru Eugene. This was at least our 4th time. Service is good, the rooms are clean (well, this time our room had an older bath and the shower/tub showed some age), there's a Continental breakfast, restaurants within walking distance, and now we've discovered the Ruth Bascom walking/biking path just three blocks away. And there's a Whole Foods being constructed a block away. We'll definitely stay again.
We like the breakfast, and the people we're fairly nice until checkout time when a man pretends to listen to you check out while reading a paper. We also like the fact that it is across from Whole Foods. Didn't like leaf blowers at 9am.
Clean, simple, quiet, good location for what we needed. Just staying the night after an event at U of O, it was perfect.
Not too much to like here Be careful when booking this hotel with the intention of bringing your pet. First they charge you an additional $10/night in order to get a "pet friendly" room, then when you get there they charge you an additional $20/night for actually bringing your pet. So in essence, there is a $30/night fee for pets which is much higher than other hotels in the area. Not to mention the rooms are musty smelling and in spite of their claim that the hotel was recently renovated, the rooms are far from the nicest in town. Do yourself a favor and choose one of the newer hotels in the Gateway area of town, you'll be glad you did!
Nice checkout time Friendly staff My car almost got towed because the staff neglected to give me a parking pass. Did not know one was needed so that would have been a huge bummer Was a bit pricey also Bummer that the jacuzzi jets were not working
The room was clean, the staff was friendly, and it's a great location within walking distance of the University of Oregon campus. Couldn't really ask for more.
Loved how close it was to nearby bars and university. Make sure you stop by voodoo donut, well worth it. Staff was nice and professional and gave us good recommendations.
The staff were friendly, the room was super clean and well kept, the complimentary breakfast and shuttle service to and from the airport was a huge plus too.
Great staff, very helpful and hospitable, from front desk to breakfast staff to housekeepers. Great breakfast with lots of choices. Walls a bit thin - late groups being loud in the hallway.
Location was great and the bed was very comfortable. Wasn't very clean and small bathrooms
Very helpful staff. Alex at front desk was great. Loved the breakfast. Some faulty vending machines
We liked the pool. The room was clean and comfortable. Staff was professional. They advertised a free shuttle to the airport but didn't have it available till later then our need of one at 4:15 am. We had to pay an extra $30 we had not anticipated. Taxi took long way to airport telling us it would be faster. It wasn't. Our choice of this hotel was made on having a shuttle available, so we were disappointed.
the beds were very comfortable. the room more spacious than the pictures represented. excellent downtown location easily walkable to shops and restaurants. although very clean, the hotel could use a face lift. not a luxury hotel, but a good bargain for a last minute booking
The Timbers has a good location in downtown Eugene, parking, and a room that are nicer than you might expect. You would guess that it will be another cookie-cutter hotel room, but it actually had some character. We stayed on New Year's Eve, and there were some people partying directly above us that night. I don't fault the hotel much for this, but it was still annoying.
It's location was great The room was cramped and the fridge did not work
A nice and clean place that was very nice for the price range. The shower never got "super hot".
The room was spacious. The name of the motel probably tells you but I wanted to emphasize that it's a very nice looking "wooodsy" motel decor. The exterior is made of painted cedar boards and a massive beam look;, the 2nd floor rooms have vaullted ceilings constructed of exposed beams holding an exposed and good-looking cedar board roof deck-ceiling. The floors are finished oak. The overall feeling is very nice. We had a king-sized bed, and it was comfortable, It advertises free breakfast -- which turns out to be a rather Spartan like affair, mostly a continental breakfast snack.
Beautifully renovated interior with mostly new furnishings and decor. Lock was not the safest on the door; it was the original lock and only locked partially on some settings. Free hbo channel. Could be $10-$20 cheaper for the location and size but for a just passing thru stay it was perfect. Location, door lock, price ( but it was far cheaper than the other liveable motel/hotel options). Watch billing- orbitz told me 1 night and the motel 3 nights- they fixed it but just double check to be safe!
Love the wood floors loved the size of the room and great location Heater didn't work right breakfast is yuk
I liked the cleanliness, the ambiance, the exquisite taste in decorating, the all wooden floors, and the great attitude of the desk personnel!!! A plus for this unnasuming motel in Eugene!!! It is a little gem in a sea of crappy motels! Thank-you Timbers!!! There was nothing at all that I didn't like! Excellent value for your money!!
Love the idea of a motor lodge that gives five star service.
We stayed one night at the Timbers and it was just fine. It's an older motel but located very close to campus. The room was comfortable and clean.
Walking Distance to Stadium and University . Good location to get to running trails along the river. In general a clean hotel next to the University . Limited Parking within the hotel parking area. If you get back late you wont find a place to park and you will have to go to the overflow parking across the street. Access to the hotel is off a one way street and somewhat difficult to access if your going the wrong way. Toilet in the room was not working well and I had to get a plunger and plunge the toilet multiple times. Shower handle poorly installed and difficult to get it in the right position to turn on and then turn off. Water pressure was very limited. (My room was on the third floor).
This hotel is near a great pub, close to campus, easy to get to and very clean. It was a nice stay and tasty breakfast the next morning.
everything was great do not have any complaints
Computer room Maintenance guy doing loud repairs in stairwell next to room before 9 am Sunday morning. I am a marine painter/blaster that works long hours multiple days of the week. I was looking for a late start to my day Sunday morning. Rude!
The room was nice and large and had enough space for two people to stay comfortably. Bed was comfortable. Air conditioner kept room cool. Continental breakfast was good. Coffee was good. Bed cover too heavy. Was almost no counter space at sink. Air conditioner rattled. Continental breakfast food barely warm. Very crowded dining area. Parking lot was too small for this hotel. I could not find a place to park after returning from dinner with my family.
The desk staff was friendly and overall helpful Rooms are dark and smelly. Feels dirty. Tiny, scratchy towels with a bar of soap and cheap combo bottle of shampoo/conditioner. Parking lot overcrowded especially with uhauls and trucks. Fitness center was a treadmill and broken down combo equipment piece. Pool cloudy and smelly. Far overpriced for a "motel 6" place.
Breakfast was good. Found some long black hairs in bed& shower (not ours). Staff left dirty coffee cups & old coffee on counter.
Luxurious bed. Clean. Nice shower. Good water pressure. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise. I did not like constantly hearing the sound of water rushing through the pipes. It kept me up most of the night. When I checked out, the guest in front of me told the person behind the desk that he and his family hardly slept because of the sound of the water in the pipes. He suggested you insulate the walls.
It was clean and had an easy check in and out. The pool and hot tub were nice. The shower didn't work and would not get hot either.
I like staying here but before I had a chance to shower the main water line broke...stuff happens.. Overall a nice hotel, just unlucky break!
We oiled hear loud neighbors lol night talking and banging furniture against our common wall. Walls didn't appear to be very sound proof.
The front desk staff was great! The facility was okay. Parking was pretty tight There was some dirty pillow cases on the bed. The ceiling over the shower was very moldy. Overall it was okay.
Very friendly staff. Nice clean rooms. Great location by the park.
The hotel room is large and roomy. Bathroom is big and clean. love the free movie option. Location is a little remote, but not a big deal if you have a car.
The bed was very comfortable. We had a better night's sleep than we have in a very long time. There were notes written from the previous guest on the notepad, there was used soap and shampoo in the shower, and there was old food in the refrigerator.
Location to the University Blow dryer broken and front desk didn't have a hand held one. Phone completely dead. Thin walls, need earplugs.
I've stayed here on many occasions when visiting family and friends in Eugene and have always had a good stay. No frills for this little hotel, but it's clean, in a good area, the staff is friendly and they have breakfast. The water pressure in the showers is always low.
Price points are pretty good for long term stay, and they will work with you if you find a cheaper price online. Parking is one car per room, and that's no joke! Their parking lot is tiny and awkward if you drive a larger vehicle.
Very close to downtown restaurants and the staff are very knowledgeable. Clean, cozy and a glass of wine in the evening. What more could I ask for. I plan to return. The bed was a bit high off the ground and the step ladder only on one side of the bed. I moved the night light to the bathroom to remind myself not to fall off the bed!
Quiet place close to downtown. Easy walking distance to restaurants and theater. I loved my room and wished that I could have stayed longer. Will stay again the next time I'm in Eugene.
Very cozy. The mini fridge smelled of mold and there was hair on the wall in the shower:/
The location is awesome really close to UofO campus!!!! Room was pretty cramped and bathrooms could us a remodel
The pool was nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. Designated smoking tent keep people from loitering around their doors. New security system and cameras seem to have helped reduce break ins to vehicles. Not a bad place or value, but definitely had some sketchy, addicts around, but it's also Eugene and it is too be expected. The parking lot was ample, but getting out onto Broadway took some time due to the nearby intersections always being busy.
The staff was awesome! The rooms were clean. Woke up made waffles and bagels. We had a great stay!
It is within walking distance to many places to eat. Hotel was dirty, carpet stained, hole in shower curtain and dirty sheets. Also very loud and you could hear every little thing through the walls. Room stunk and didn't feel comfortable at all. Ended up staying somewhere else, it was that bad. Absolutely disgusting!
The room is old, extremely dirty! and very smelly! The bed, sheet, and comforters are extremely dirty!!! The bath room, sink and tub are dirty too! The room does not have A/C and it is so stuffy inside. They still charged me +$110/night. No place for breakfast. The food they provide for breakfast is for beggers, not for travelers. A decently clean place to stay for a night or two. Highway traffic noise is bothersome near the front of the building, but for the money and compared to similar inns in the area, it was pretty good. Traffic Noise Old bathtub
The Only thing good about this motel is the location. Very close to the University of Oregon the room I booked was described as "separated Queens". When I called to ask what that meant the gentleman told me it was a room with two bedrooms. When we arrived late at night, , we were given a room with a queen bed in a tiny living room, then you had to squeeze around the bed to get to the bathroom and then on the other side of the bathroom was a bedroom . The place was freezing when we arrived and the only heater was under the window in the living room. We turned the heater on full blast, 90° fan on high. After about 40 minutes we were still freezing. The outside temperature was 26°. I called the main desk and he offered us another room. We asked for extra blankets and were told to take the blankets off the bed in the old room and move them to the new room. So we did because we were freezing. We moved to the other room which was a little bit bigger. It had an actual living room with a couch, a short hallway with a bathroom and two separate bedrooms. However, the problem was the same. Again, the only heater was under the window in the living room. We put the extra blankets on the beds and cranked the heater up on high. The room never got warm so we were forced to sleep in our clothes and our coats! We were still cold when we woke up. How is it possible to have no heat in the bedrooms??? We spoke to the manager in the morning but he just said "well it's cold outside" Besides being freezing cold, the place was not clean! I found a dirty sock under the corner of my bed! Also it's a very old building and there's not enough outlets, so they have extension cords all over the place. I don't think thats safe. The bathrooms had old tile with mildew on the caulking. The sink in the bathroom was barely held on with caulking. Also, I don't think they wash the blankets in between guests because there were hairs on my blanket. Overall a very miserable experience and I wish I had just stayed home and saved my $93. I would never recommend this place!
Large roomKitchenetteSnacks in evening with wine and GREAT Breakfast! My husband is a light sleeper and he heard the road noise. We were on the first floor (per our request) and could hear the folks above us.Next time we will request a higher floor and a more interior room
Centrally located, clean, friendly staff.
Lovely accommodations! Comfortable in every way. The loud air conditioning turning on and off during the night.
The riverwalk with a lovely park is right across the street. We enjoyed the jacuzzi outdoors and the buffet breakfast.Staff was superbly helpful. Tricky finding it even with a detailed map.
The location and the room size. Oh, and the bed was excellent. Poor lighting in the room makes it hard to read.

Nice to have the kitchen feature! Breakfast was good. Nice to not have to go anywhere else for that and coffee in the morning. I was surprised for a three star hotel to find a few hairs on the floors. Possibly pet? Since they are allowed here...Otherwise, overall good experience.
Great location near Autzen stadium. Loved our stay here for our anniversary.
Staff, amenities, cleanliness No
I was disappointed at first, since from the hallways and the elevator, the hotel is a little dated. However, the room was quite nice. I loved the fireplace and the couch. It was also a nice surpris to have a refrigerator in the room to put my leftovers The hallways were a little dirty, but that could have been just during the time of my stay. As I was walking down the hallway I was thinking, 'Is this really a 3 star hotel?!'. But I found the room was nice.
The staff were extremely friendly & accommodating - they rushed to make my room ready when I asked to check in early; had free toiletries I had forgotten; social time in the evening that included fajitas and complementary drinks; gas fireplace in room Would have been nice to be within walking distance of my conference, but the good experience made up for short drive (free parking was nice too).
Rooms are well appointed and comfortable for short or long stays. And the staff is very friendly, attentive and efficient. No complaints.
Good location, spacious room and bathroom. Good tv and wifi. No, everything met my expectations
overpriced for eugene oregon
The bathroom was actually really quite nice. Parking lot is really small.
The staff was great and we loved the free breakfast, fridge in the room and free private internet! The alarm clock went off and we couldn't shut it off so staff may want to check that when guests leave. It ruined my sleep. the sink was plugged up in the bathroom.
nothing motel looked great on the outside but the inside was very small and outdated. A real small area for parking cars.

The price is perfect. I was not expecting a 5 star hotel but this hotel far exceeded my expectations. I was impressed with how clean the room was and how comfortable the bed was. I would definitely stay there again.

I liked that the property was well maintained.
The staff was amazing! It smelled musty in the room.
For an older motel, it was clean and well taken care of. The heater in my room was either on or off. The temperature control did not work. The room got very hot over night.
Price Staff rude and unfriendly
The staff was great! The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Great downtown location. I will stay there again! Parking could be a challenge. Construction on the road was a bit of a pain, but nothing Downtown Inn can do about that!
Room was clean and welcoming. Has mini fridge, large not small box. Bed was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was clean and new looking. Carpet is older and stained but you don't go to a place for the carpet. Wish smokers weren't smoking just outside their rooms but I guess that can't be helped :P
Proximity to downtown. Affordable rates.
Easy to get just about anywhere. Clean and a friendly staff Seemed a bit pricy for the amenities
