Location is great being right off the bay, convention center next door. Views of downtown and Coronado island were stunning from our room. Parking runs between $30-$40 per night, which wasn't included in the original booking costs. On site restaurant had bad reviews; fox bar was decent.
Nice, clean room. Nice hotel. I would go back, but hated paying $35 for parking!! Parking is WAY too expensive!!
Can't beat the view! We have stayed numerous times, always a good experience.
View from room was spectacular . Beds very comfortable Booked a view room on line requested a refrigerator got to hotel was told that I did not book that room and it would be $ 35.00 dollars more a night for view room . No refrigerator. 2 days without housekeeping had to call front desk to get room cleaned.
Located with in walking distance to the Gas Lamps District, Petco Park, water front and many more areas that I like. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Every year me and the wife go on a little get away and we always stay here.
The locations was great next to the convention center and Gas Lamp. Also close to food and shops. Clean, renovated and felt luxurious.
Clean and comfortable It would appear people mostly come here too party. The first night there was a party at a the end of the hall and a large case of empty beer cans in the hall in the morning. The second night We were woken at about midnight to screaming and carrying on outside our room, literally outside our room. We asked the partiers to be quieter but gave up when we saw it was > 15 people in the hallway. They quieted down at 0300.
Location Given room with bad view. When others were available with good view.
It is on the bayfront and has restaurants and close to Gaslamp. On the first morning of our stay, the housekeeping supervisor with her clipboard came banging at our door at 8am. She didn't stop until we jolted out of a deep sleep to answer the door. When we came to the door she pretended not to speak English. The parking is $35/day. There is no fridge in the room. The duvets had stains and smelt bad.
We loved the location and he cleanliness. It was very quiet and the room was extremely comfortable! We did like the view but wished there were more pictures online so you can get a good feel of the view you're paying for. I believe it would be helpful for further bookings.
Well kept room Terrible wi-fi and 17USD / day upgrade is utterly ridiculous
Oh the views from the rooms on the upper floors are incredible. Rooms are average size, and much smaller than the Marriott and Hyatt which are close by. Parking $35 a day what a ripoff. My daily rate for the car rental was less. It was difficult to find the Fox Sports Bar as you had to go outside. Hotel needs to have better signage.
it's a great location. Easy access to any part of sd. Our neighbors were partying until 4 am despite complaints. Hotel did not do anything about it.
Its was clean staff was amazing I have nothing that we didn't like
Solid hotel as always Front desk clerk who checked us in was not professional and quite curt. Train your staff for those who travel far distances who deserve a little common courteously, will you?
friendly staff, very clean rooms, beautiful view, accessible inconvenient parking fees for valet, no fridge in rooms, pricey
Very clean, comfortable bed, nice staff, perfect location, and great view from the 17th floor. N/A
Staff was very courteous, rooms were clean and well stocked, beds were comfortable and had clean sheets. Clise to bars and restaurants. Overall very comfortable. Location is a bit far from the beach
I love everything about this hotel! From the location, the rooms, the staff, the bar and restaurant, to the new friends I made.
The room was clean and well laid out. The bed was comfortable, and the windows was nice and big. The bathroom stayed humid/moist for a long while after taking a shower.
Loved the location, bed, look and feel of the room, and the staff. I stayed in a water facing room with a (sort of) balcony on the 20th floor. It was a tremendous view I had a fantastic time. Couldn't possibly be closer to gas lamp district The room was a bit small and unequipted for the price per night. No microwave or refrigerator unless you call and ask for one to be sent up which was a bit tedious. Overall only complaint I could have
Functional and clean rooms, all amenities available. Excellent location for conferences in convention center or one of the large surrounding hotels. As expedia costumer typically placed in one of the less favorable rooms (in this case above the pool bar, whci was used for evening and morning events with music) Pricey food and drink items in the hotel (e.g. bottled water 7$) One of the access paths for baseball games is through the hotel, hence before and after games the business center and gym are virtually unusable.
Staff were very nice. Clean hotel. Very accommodating I got charged $42 fot valet parking. Valet parking should be free. You are already spending money in staying in that hotel why wouldn't the valet parking be included?? That's one thing I was Not happy about.
Facilities were very well kept. Room was very nice, and looked out over the Bay Area. Great location to GasLamp Quarter, restaurants, and connects to Petco Park. Great proximity to the convention center. Staff was accommodating. Concierge and valet staff were very knowledgeable on good places to eat/see in San Diego and other surrounding vicinities such as La Jolla, Coronado, etc. Also, got a little discount on zoo tickets by purchasing them at the hotel. Valet parking is a little steep. They charge $40.00/day. I agree they should charge for the service as its quicker and easier for someone to park your car and bring it to you, but $40.00/day is a little high. On the upside, you can use it as much as you want.
Great location. Expensive parking. Probably slightly more enjoyable when construction is not going on all around the hotel. Complimentary beer/wine great addition. Room was clean but there were a few areas to improve: Bathroom cieling had some moldy/discolored spots and the housekeeping staff forgot to remove banners the previous guests had placed in the room "Bride to Be" ... that was a bad start. But the staff were very friendly apologetic about that. Overall great trip and the location cant be beat!
excellent restaurant in hotel, many excellent restaurants nearby Difficult to identify the front entrance!
Everything was so nice! My room was really great, spacious and comfortable. The happy hour was fun, and the pool was so welcome after no sun on the East Coast. It was a great location for going to a convention - I could hop back and forth easily. The only negative I can think of is that my room could have used some kind of chest of drawers or a dresser to put my clothes away. That's really a small thing, huh?
Staff were really friendly. Room was very nice and rooftop pool was very cool. Location to the gas lamp and ballpark is perfect. $45 overnight parking.
Gas Lamp quarter is a happening place. Lots of good restaurants and bars. Great pool deck lounge w bar at the Solamar. Friendly staff w attentive valet team. Shower didn't adjust, spray was not right. Bathroom outlets not fixed to wall properly. Pillows thin and cheap feeling.
Very nice rooms, very clean and staff was very nice and helpful I had a corner room with construction going on on both sides till late in the evening to first thing in the morning. Couldn't open the curtains do to construction works just outside very noisy stay.
I was content with everything for sure I won't hesitate to stay there next time while in San Diego
the room was clean, location was great, bed was comfortable, rooftop bar was great! they overbooked and tried to send me to la jolla!
The service was great! I didn't like that I booked it on kayak. I could have received a better deal by just calling the kimpton.
Great location, close to petco park and the gas lamp district. The complimentary wine/beer at 5pm was a nice touch, as was the strong coffee in the morning. The room was nice and the jet tub was awesome. Wish I had stayed on Sunday for the free yoga class! The bed was very creaky and even when rolling over my husband and I were waking each other up. Great hotel if you are in the party mood, but if you seek R&R, the partiers might keep you up.
Great vibe. Beautiful Hotel. Great staff and service. Loved the rooftop pool. A little noisy. The room was on the 5th floor and there was a frequent rumbling sound coming from what sounded like above us. It made it difficult to sleep. I needed ear plugs.
Top rate friendly staff. excellent accommodations. centrally located. the location, although centrally located was very urban and close to some what appeared to be homeless shelters. I didn't have any problems and it was fine, but I think awareness of surroundings would need to be stressed.
I love the hotel. Rooms were big & well appointed. There were lots of complimentary options like water, juice, Keurig coffee & tea varieties, wine after 5pm, expresso & treats in lobby, shower, bed, pillows. Room service was terrible, my steak was super well done but lots of excellent restaurants near by.
very nice hotel, design, modern, great location in gaslamp quarter, internet free the room is a bit small
The shower The fact that we had to pay 30 USD per day for parking our car. This should be part of the room for guest with reservation. 60USD is too much for simply keeping your car in the place you are staying!
Great decor,rooms,location and staff.
The Andaz is in the ideal location. By car it's a short drive to all the major San Diego attractions and you can walk to dozens of restaurants and bars. Hotel staff was excellent!
The rooms are great and I specifically liked the bathroom accessoires (like shampoo, bath rope et cetera). On weekend-days, their nightclub on top has very, very loud music. I couldn't sleep because of it. They should tell you this in advance, for this price you expect a good night's sleep.
Bed was comfortable, good size room, clean, nice staff, great breakfast at restaurant, good drinks at night! Pool area was very cramped...people ended up just laying on towels on the cement...not enough umbrellas
The reception staff was very helpful.Good room with great bathtub.Very nice breakfast. I had to have a credit card to check in even though i had the full roomrent in cash. They wanted to block 2000 Dollars for a two night stay costing 460 Dollars. The manager was very helpful and we sorted the problem but its still shocking that you have to be in the possession of a credit card to being able to stay at any given hotel
Service, Service, Service!!! Perfect! Justin at the front desk was exceptionally helpful
Gym was ok... pool rooftop wad excellent. Location to convention center was excellent No drawers in room shower was terrible. ...Just a wand...no nozzle above
I loved how helpful the staff was. The interior design is very modern and gives you the home feeling of comforability. I would definitely pick this hotel if I were to come to San Diego again. I was running a half marathon and had to pick up my car at 4am from valet and they took a little while to answer the phone. So that was a bit of an inconvenience.
I liked the theme of the hotel. The hotel is located in the gaslamp district which was excellent. The bed was really comfortable and they even give you individual comforters which I loved. I didn't like the location of our room we were on the fridt floor next the the elevators and every person that was leaving the hotel with their luggage had to go by our room.
The bed was super comfortable. I like the European duvet style without the bed cover that doesn't get washed. The whole hotel was styled in a very contempory, upbeat and cheeky sort of way. There were many thoughtful touches I appreciated. I had a quiet night of sleep in comfort.
Nice urban modern boutique hotel with great location. Park a block up for $15/night. Would definitely stay there again.
The location and design is great. The staff is nice. The rooms are comfortable. A microwave & fridge would be nice.
Really nice place to stay. European feel, all hotels very expensive in San Diego on weekends. Very comfortable beds, nice shower products. Loved being able to use bucycles. My room should bave darker, was told upon checout that there were privacy blinds that I never saw.
convenience to Petco Park, Seaport Village, & the Midway carrier lack of free parking
it right by Petco Park, you can see the baseball game from our room no pool or hot tub, parking was incredibly high $32
Great location walking distance to food and bars/clubs. Rooftop bar was good but overpriced drinks The beds were really small
Really liked the Hotel. The location was great. Service was excelent. We will stay there again.
Again the staff was excellent, from the valet guy to the maids, they all go beyond there line of duty. The room I stayed looked like one of the older ones that hasn't been updated, the beds were worn and very lumpy, the shower did not work properly.
Roof top bar is a lot of fun No swimming pool
The location is great, right in the Gaslamp Quarter. Everything is walking distance. They charge for US$30.00 for an overnight valet parking. There is no other possibility to park anywhere nearby. I think 30 dollars is a lot for it,. or they should include this in the hotel room rate so the guests will not feel that they need to pay some more extras.
Early check-in, option to add microwave, fridge and a crib, friendly staff and fast service. $15 self parking per night right across the street. Small restaurant, no swimming pool or a gym.
the front desk was very accomodating to any questions or requests we had
Everything was very clean, tidy and the staff made you feel at home. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The night time hours were quite noisy due to guests in rooms close by coming and going around midnight/1am.
I liked everything. Great location right in the middle of the Gaslamp Quarter, friendly and helpful staff, downstairs bar, clean and spacious room, nice decor, free wifi, and the mobile check in via text was a cool feature. $40 valet is the only parking option offered by the hotel, and although I didn't have a problem with the service, a discount for hotel guests would be nice
Overall great experience
Space, cleanliness and kitchen, will definitely recommend. Parking valet is $41, ouch !!!!
The room was clean and comfortable. The location for functions at he Convention Center is excellent.
The staff was superior-friendly, warm and went out of their way to be helpful. I did not feel secure using the exercise room. Downstairs, secluded and next to a work room or garage. Same price as Marriott Marquis
This hotel is in the perfect central location, closed by to all the main attractions in San Diego. Staff very professional, always helpful and room was very clean and very modern bathroom. Paying for parking. I wish parking was included in the hotel reservation. Overnight parking is $40 a day, which I feel is a lot of money.
Great location - walking distance to everything - easy going & pleasant staff onsite 24hr a day - One of the windows in the 4th floor were I stayed didn't have a screen on it.
The wifi is free and decent. Very close to the Gaslamp Quarter with lots of shops. Discount tickets to SeaWorld and the ticket last 2 days. Free breakfast. And some nights free dinner. No elevator in the 4 floor building. Cannot use the laundry until after 3 pm.
The rooms are very clean and huge, very well equipped and maintained. There might have been fleas or bed-bugs.
It was surprisingly clean and comfortable. Area is a bit sketchy, some people we're sketchy as well. Smelled like marijuana. And 18 minutes away from nearest beach.
I liked that it was cheap compared to other hotels around the area. I was raised around a rough neighborhood but even some of the individuals staying there or around didn't seem like people in their right mind, one of the nights the people next to us argued all night threw beer bottles at the walls and even kicked our door a couple times until I went out there and tried to see what there problem was. Told the clerk and he said he was going to contact the law and he never did had to stay another night and the people staying in that room didn't get kicked out or told anything about there actions from the night before, you live and you learn never staying there again.
It's so ugly and bad Every thing
I liked that it was close the freeway, and local shopping center. Perfect for a short stay. I'm glad I didnt take my Yukon. It would of been a headache. The parking lot is made for compact cars only. Anything bigger, good luck. Very tight squeeze. The water pressure sucked. Seemed loike everyone was taking a shower at the same time and made it difficult to shower with ease.
House keeping wasn't satisfying. Great customer service/front desk.
The price was great and the service was really good. the door was a lil broken
Large room with internet, they had a good Mexican restaurant called RIVA'S 4 blocks away. This hotel should not have the word downtown in its name since it was very far from downtown, and had little services near by. Call your taxi ahead of time to get to the airport since the hotel had to call twice to get my taxi.
The location and the quietness Staff was really rude
Nothing Holes in the walls and stains on the walls were mildly entertaining............ Breakfast, the fact that the pictures on the internet were not at all what the hotel was like. E.G. no pool
near the trolley. the safe didn't work. The extractor fan in the bathroom was very noisey
