It's proximity to the Shanghai Station is a plus point for making day trips to Nanjing and Zhenjiang from which I could be picked up to go to shipyards in the Nanjing and Yangzhou area.
Excellent hotel in close vicinity of the Shanghai Rail station, spacious room and perfect bathroom
The rooms are very big and the cleanliness is the best in China The hotel staff is not polite and not helpful. They are more interest in getting their job done easily rather than the interest of the guest. The service standard is very poor and the tone of voice of the staff is very very unpolite. I have never had this kind of bad service in an Inter Con hotel before. Even the expat managers were not helpful...
Room was very good.
Easy to get to by the metro, this hotel was a great value. Very nice rooms and a friendly staff, I very much enjoyed my stay. Easy walking to restaurants, the Jing An Temple and shopping.
Clean, Modern, Great Water Pressure AC & Heater is very noisy (it won't allow you to sleep at night), Bathroom has see through window so no privacy from the room, beds are very hard, not enough plugs for computers, iPhones, iPads, etc.
Nice, well furnished, comfy rooms. Professional staff. Good variety for breakfast. Coffee maker not the easiest to operate. OK location. Difficult to find taxi but ready access to Metro. Not the most helpful concierge.
If you want to use subway, its one block away. Shopping is right in front of hotel.
The location is great.
Clean & big room. Comfortable interior decoration. Attitude of staff in reception isn't like 5 star hotel. Not enough hot water to take bath.
I really like the door guy, he new my friends name, even though he had not stayed in the hotel for 9 months. All the staff was friendly and the location was perfect. Location
Staff very available and kind; the hotel is quiet, close to shopping area and places of interest
The hotel is modern and almost perfectly located in the Jing'An district of Shanghai. It is a 5 min walk to the Subway station and around the corner from a number of great eateries both Chinese and Western. Travel time to places like the Bund/Concessions and Financial District are less than 30 mins by Taxi even less by Subway. Most of the staff speak some English which was not always the case in other 5-star hotels in China. Concierge was well informed and more helpful than the average as well. Another reviewer mentioned that they didn't like the hard beds. I like the firm, yet comfortable mattresses they have. All 5-star hotels in China provide you with two bottles of drinking water per day. Swissotel's bottles were actually half-bottles. This is really nit-picking but I couldn't think of anything else I didn't like!
Very comfortable hotel, superb attention to detail, very friendly staff nothing
Modern, clean and efficient. Good location and public transportation, such as the MRT Subway, is just a few steps away. The main restaurant on the 2nd floor offers an excellent buffet breakfast with great international food variety ; however, the staff needs to be more pro-active to ensure an efficient service. On several occasions there were no tables available, not because they were occupied by other guests but because they were not clean. The waiters, seems to be waiting for something to happen because some of them are not pro-active enough, seems they are waiting for instructions, or maybe they prefer to remain in their "comfort zone".
We had a very good stay in the Swissothel non!
Front desk could not locate booking made on hotels.com
This place had quite poor level comparing to other RITZ hotels I used to stay in. Breakfast was awful.
the ritz club lounge the pool was closed without notice, no Spa and people were allowed in the club lounge without even being guests of the ritz.
This facility offers very comfortable beds and an excellent morning breakfast buffet. It's my go-to hotel when I am in Shanghai on business. My room had a clear space for an iron, but it was missing. The hair dryer was cracked and broken, though it still operated. The shower door did not close well, and after every usage, there would be a significant puddle of water on the floor outside the shower (or a fully soaked towel).
Close to railway station. Nice shower. Air conditioning not great. No bath
the rooms were very comfortable, beautiful bathroom hotel staff should improve English (as everywhere in China)
The location, modern ambiance, value for money, services/ facilities are all good. I have booked again en route back to Australia and provided the rates do not become too expensive I will use this hotel again on busines trip to Shanghai - I travel to China/ Shanghai every two months. The air conditioning temperature in room is set too high and I was not able to adjust the temperature. The sevice engineer seemed not to understand my complaint and I spent a week in a 'warm' room. I believe internet should be free of charge as it is in most five star hotels these days.
There is a very little member of staff at the reception compared to the number of rooms causing some delays if you needed some help at the peak time. All the rest was very good. This hotel is very good value for money.
i am 6 years old. i came with my mummy. they have a fab swimming pool. As you'll see from the above my son loved it - the service was great and they did little things to make his first trip to Shanghai really special. The service was first rate - nothing was too much trouble and the library of DVDs was great for when all the sightseeing and swimming got too much. It was handy for the metro so we got about easily and is also fairly near a great vegetarian restaurant called Vegetarian Life which he loved too.
The Spa was perfect and well kept.Good flexibility in leaving room time. Good value for the Money. Overall carpet in room very old and dirty.
The Hotel is comfortable and clean. Very near the subway (Line 2) and easy to move around. The Counter Manager (Andrew) is very helpful in providing us with very clear instructions on how to move around the subway and to the places we wanted to go. The chambermaids were very thorough with their work and were curtious when they met us.
In general the hotel is well located, clean and for the time period in question (Shanghai Worl Expo), reasonably priced. Tricky as to breakfast coupon issued to guest. Assuming that breakfast is included (as I did) and if you used the coupon, hotel will charge you 170 RMB (about US$25 each) rather than the US$12 indicated by Booking.com. Front desk staff (one named "Fofanny") was rude and uncooperative and matter only get resolved thanks to Front Office Manager, Mr. Lance Mou.
the staff speak english and are very helpfull. the rooms are always clean and the location is perfect. spa is very expensive and is ten times what you get for the same service a few steps outside the hotel.
Seemed to be pretty clean and down town. I came from the airport and it was a pretty long drive but all seemed good The building was very cold even after running the heater all night. The bed wasn't all that comfortable.
hotet staff very poor hotel staff
the facilities are nice and clean, definitely not 5 star but good value for money the internet is expensive and very slow, for 15.-$/day service should be working well. The breakfast organisation is a disaster
I appreciate the hotel's housekeeping staff very much. I found it so difficult to communicate with concierge staff in English. It would be more convenient if there were some staff at your front desk who can speak English well so that English- speaking guests like me will recommend your hotel to others.
The location of the hotel is very good to visit the shopping area of the city and it is not noisy at all even if close to the roadway. Staff is nice and helpful whenever their English is quite poor for a 4 stars hotel. Breakfast is not included and costs too much. Fridge bar inexistant. Room to small for being a deluxe. Then I personally did not like (my man yes of course!) the presence of too many easy going women at the bar during the night........................
The location is the only positive. First of all, the first room they gave me, the lock didn't work. I literally open the door without using the key. The second room they gave me had a broken light fixture by the bed stand. The bathroom bathtub was scratched and discolored. The water pressure was nothing short of horrible. The beds were massively uncomfortable. The gym was not open. And they told me it would only be open if there was a conference going on at the time. That is absurd since they advertise at the gym is open during 14 hours a day. Overall the hotel is just old and crappy and not worth a dollar of your hard-earned money
Excellent location close to many facilities, very friendly staff - not always speaking english but willing to assist you Very high cost for use of internet! Very noisy - some kind of turbines working day and night just outside our window!
Location was good. About a 10 min walk to Jingan subway. The one thing that really rubbed me the wrong way was they charged about $6 for internet in the room, but offered it for free in the lobby. However, they discouraged people from using it by placing 0 chairs in lobby, except for around a cafe with explicit signs that sitting there requires purchasing food or drinks at the cafe. Who ever heard of a hotel with 0 chairs in the lobby? It's a really cheap move.
The King Size bed. Avoid the Chinese massage place at the 3rd floor.
Låg central till i Shanghai. Helt OK rum och frukost. Taxi var väldigt lätt tillgängligt från hotellet. Urusel service och fruktansvärt otrevlig personal. Välj något annat hotell.
Bra och trevlig personal, har allt nära omkring
Rooms were nice and the location was perfect. Found the rooms overpriced along with the bar.
To enter the hotel you need to climb stairs, only way is to carry your luggage. I arrived with taxi and the bellboy had an arrogant attitude and looked reluctant to help me with my suitcase! One of the receptionist staff had the same attitude issue. You can't enter the garden (which was 1 of the main reasons for choosing hotel), hotel interior is old/worn down. Facilities are poor.
Good location. interesting architecture and history. often difficult to communicate with staff - not many spoke English well eneough to make our requests known.
The hotel has big rooms. The service has international standers. The workers were professional but could be nicer. The location is nice (close to the subway – 10 minutes walk). Good choice to stay (quality/price).
This hotel is neither good nor bad. Internal equipments require to be refurbished.
This is a beautiful old-world European hotel. Our room had magnificent woodwork. The concierge was very helpful. The tub enclosure had quite a bit of mold on the tile and the ceiling. The bed was the hardest I've ever slept in. At first I had to check to see if there really was a mattress.
How the Staff Treated Angie & I. I am Danny, Angie's Husband, taking this survey. I cannot say anything negative about the Jing-An Hotel. In Fact, when Angie Booked it as part of our Trip, I was Thrilled to be returning to the Jing-An. We stayed there during the '2K8 Olympics, & I became Buds with 1 of the Assistant Managers, who is still there. I wish he'd get in touch with me so I can send him a picture of He & I from '2K8! I Guess I'll just have to Mail it. . . . .
good location and staff a promotion in which they promised you a free upgrade in a superior class that actually they haven't done
location, very close to downtown and shopping did not have the room I booked so was given a twin instead.
A good location close to shops, cafés and restaurants The breakfast buffet was lousy, and the staff not serviceminded.
