This hotel was so much better than I could have imagined. Extremely clean, friendly staff, amazing location. The rooms were very comfortable and the rooftop view was really nice. It is walking distance to the space needle and pike place market and there are tons of cute restaurants around. They have bikes you can rent and umbrellas that you can check out for free. Parking was $18/night but they did let us leave it in the lot after we had checked out.
The room was well done, I had great views and the bed was super-comfy! The staff was incredibly helpful and nice. I didn't like paying an extra $18 for parking
My family has stayed here two times now. We liked it so much the first time, we intentionally booked it for our following trip. The location is great! Close to Seattle center, super convenient public transportation, good food nearby- including an adorable old school bakery. The room we had was SMALL, despite us requesting a larger one at booking/online check in.
Laundry facilities, rooftop viewing area, just a few blocks from the Seattle Center. 30+ downhill walk to Pikes Place.
Great Location. Clean. Great staff. Room had a great view. Short walk to Needle and other attractions. Good places to eat nearby. Would gladly stay here again. My only gripe is the room was too small with the double beds. It was a bit difficult to move around in the room. This was a minor issue and would not stop me from staying again.
Everything was pretty much perfect we were checked in way before we expected to be and the staff was very helpful with anything that we needed. We loved the view from the rooftop couldn't have been any better.
Clean, simple, tasteful. Small undergroundparking area allows fast indoor access to your vehicle directly from elevator. Quiet inside the place- walls seem very thick. awful yellow paint on them however. Nice basic restaurants, beer and grocery within walking distance.
Although this hotel is just about a 5 minute drive to downtown, I really liked the location. It's on a corner and easy to find, there are a handful of restaurants and bars within walking distance, and it's just enough out of town to where the streets and traffic aren't keeping you up at night or waking you up early morning. There is a Starbucks connected to the hotel which is nice. Overall it is a very simple but clean hotel. Only negative thing I could say is that the pillows aren't the most comfortable, but that's a small thing to complain about. Otherwise great hotel.
The rooms facing nothing should be told up front that they don't have a view at all. Otherwise, nice place.
I was surprised by the look and the care of the staff of the hotel. I booked this place at the last minute. The staff gave options of the local restaurants. There are free bikes and umbrellas (a nice plus). You can go to the roof top and take in the view. I would stay here again
The location of this hotel cannot be beat. Steps away from the Seattle Center and a long walk or quick bus ride or monorail ride away from downtown and Pike Place Market. It wasn't anything fancy, but it was very clean and comfortable. I also loved that they have a little kitchenette in the room, with Safeway across the street and Metropolitan Market (best grocery store in Seattle) two blocks away. There wasn't anything I didn't like. I would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend and would stay here again.
Beds were terrific- loved the individual down comforters. Bravo! The room was decorated nicely and the space was huge. The bathroom was also very large and comfortable. Loved the Tommy Bahama dispensers for shampoo/conditioner/ shower gel Our shower was large, angled, and modern with no door/ curtain. The water sprayed into the bathroom possibly causing a hazard with the mess. The pillows were VERY hard. Lastly, we thought it was very strange that the room had a teeny tiny ironing board that was 3 inches tall. Not helpful.
My wife & I enjoyed our stay at the Maxwell. We really enjoyed its location in Queen Anne in which it was pretty easy to get to just about everything else in Seattle. Close to a lot of bus routes. You can even see the Space Needle as soon as you step out. I know they offered a shuttle service, but I really enjoy experiencing a city first hand. A lot of nice hole in the wall spots to eat & drink, nearby. Funky little hotel & friendly staff. Had a small pool in the basement & a fitness room. Restaurant in the lobby. No complaints, I would stay here again... It's not really a complaint, but the comforter was different than what I'm use to. It would actually fall off of me while I sleep.
very friendly staff very cozy bed really fun interior no bathtub
We went to Seattle for a quick weekend and the hotel was perfect. Walking distance to the Space Needle where there is the monorail you can take straight to the mall (roundtrip ticket is $4) and walk down to pike market. The hotel offers a shuttle but it was nice to walk a little bit and see everything on the way. Nice rooms and yummy pizza place/bar connected to lobby.
We stayed at the maxwell this valentine weekend. The hotel is very clean and nice. We have stayed in much more expensive but this could keep up with them all. Hotel employees were very nice. I would give this hotel a five star but after i left i noticed a $27.40 charge. I called and they said it was because i took the stuffed animal that is on the bed. They said i was notified of the "adoption fee" at checkout. I was NEVER notified. I am a little grossed out to think how many people slept with the stuffed animal before i took it (a little creepy) and to think i paid $30 for a $5 toy. A very nice hotel that ruined my opinion for $30. I was even trying to get my parents to go there soon!
From the moment we checked in I loved this place. Free parking, good location and a very friendly, comfortable place. Decor was different but comfortable. Even when I looked out the window and four people were standing right below window I could barely hear them talking. I'm even considering a staycation here this summer to explore parts of Seattle I've never been to.
Across the street from the Space Needle. Room was well designed, spacious and clean. Staff was very friendly. We love to walk around Seattle and this was a perfect location. Breakfast and WIFI were included. Breakfast was fair to good compared to most hotel breakfasts, however the coffee dispensers we're insufficient to keep up with demand - this was a consistent problem on each of the three days that I stayed.
Fantastic location near Space Needle. I arrived at 11pm to find out that they overbooked. Despite being a loyal Platinum member with Hyatt, they sent me to another, far inferior location several miles away. The only logic they provided was that it was cruise season. I'm never staying here again.
Location location location. This hotel is right next to the space needle and within walking distance to downtown. Breakfast was very good, only had to wait a few minutes for a made to order omelet and the rest of the spread was also very good. Room was very nice and ample seating for several visiting friends on sofa. Rooftop deck was the perfect place to enjoy a few beers right under the space needle at night. Rooftop deck closed at 10, could be later. No other complaints, this hotel is definitely my go-to from now on when I visit Seattle.
Great view of the Space Needle Lack of overall staff
Room was larger than I expected and had a small kitchen area that I used to make myself tea. Free breakfast was pretty solid too. It was a little confusing at first but I love the energy efficiency that results from connecting the keycard to the power system. The air conditioning system created a strong draft over the bed. I had to turn it off to get to sleep. Also the water tasted off in some way and the pillows weren't super comfortable.
Good clean room and good service & support from staff.
It is a very charming hotel yet in my opinion it could use some remodelling because it is a bit outdated. The service I received from the staff was good. Yes I would stay there again probably because of the location.
The staff is great. You can really tell no one hates their job and that made them very helpful. It is a old. Building so some things are dated but that's ok. The rooms are apartments more than hotel rooms!! Huge, with a great little kitchen is full size fridg. The tub water never really turned off and the toilet could use some new workings so it doesn't run. But again it's an old building and that's part of the charm.
This hotel was different in that it is not part of a chain and had its own personality. We found it charming and accessible to all we needed. A fair walk to the city but we enjoy walking. Great food over the road Maybe the lack of a lift
I really loved this hotel. I really enjoyed the 1920s feel throughout the hotel and the rooms. The kitchenette was a nice addition. We never ended up using the table for much beyond an extra place to set things and charge electronics, but having plates and utensils ready to use was very convenient. The bed was extremely comfortable, as were the pillows. The room was exceptionally clean, as was the rest of the hotel. Continental breakfast was light and delicious. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful and answered all of our questions. We were a bit disappointed that the windows didn't open. Having to run the air conditioning all the time made the air very dry. We also struggled a bit with the wi-fi. The signal was not particularly strong, which was frustrating, but not the end of the world.
Nestled between Toulouse Petite and Cafe Ladro - how can you beat that?!??
Our room had a small but fully equipped kitchen. Also very quiet and comfortable and robes which always make me feel fancy Rooms have old school charm that can be a little worn looking and Continental breakfast is small, but this is what a Continental breakfast is...and many places don't even serve one now
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rom was huge, with separate sitting and kitchen/dining areas. The location was ideal for me, within easy reach of the city centre but away from the hurly-burly of the business district. Plenty of facilities nearby, and within an easy walk of the space needle and all the other attractions on the site. A bus route connects to the city centre. There were only net curtains in the bedroom, so that it was not dark at night and I was forced to wear an eye mask to screen out the light. The breakfast facilities were meagre.
Loved the ice water, decor, and authenticity Breakfast
Location to Seattle attractions was ideal. Hotel was gorgeous, room had a lot of character and was spacious with kitchen. Very clean. If you like hotels with older character this is it. Breakfast was a predefined meal instead of the carb filled buffet you usually get, but really yummy, my favorite (sorry texas state shaped cand still free. Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. Helpful when i forgot something in my room and they've fedexed it back to me. We'll be going back, apparently there is a piano bar at the side of the building that is amazing. I suggest a first floor room, the high ceilings were amazing! Parking was a challenge but the lot around the block had an early bird option for the day we were able to take use. All of Seattle was like this however. Door staff helpful with suggestions around parking. The bathroom fixtures were functional, the bath tub wasn't ideal, but, I think it was actually original! If you like antique you'll forgive it's appearance. It was an interesting bathroom.
Great ambiance at this historic Seattle hotel. Great location for any events at the Seattle Center. Easy access to Queen Anne, waterfront, and downtown areas, as well. Kitchenette was stocked and very convenient! No elevator, but staff will carry your bags. The room needed a desk for working & computer.
The hotel is adorable. The room accommodations were comfortable & spacious. This would be the ideal spot for a family vacation, due to the kitchenette or someone w/an extended stay in the downtown Seattle area. The neighborhood is quaint & very safe. There are a multitude of local ethnic restaurants surrounding the hotel; all within walking distance. Around the corner is a drug store & wonderful upscale grocery store (spirits avail), which is perfect if you want to take a night off, stay in & prepare food in your room. The hotel has a lovely Victorian feel & the initial staff who greeted us were wonderful. It is also within walking distance to the Space Center [Needle] & if you're lucky enough to get a room with a view... it's spectacular! The beautifully restored brick building's interior decor is dated & lacks adequate lighting, creating a dark feel in the lobby, hallways & rooms. There is no elevator, but the physically-fit bellman do a bang-up job. If you have trouble w/stairs, call ahead for a 1st-fl-rm. And even though the rooms are incredibly spacious, they lack warmth & coziness. A low dresser/desk like piece of furniture would be a nice addition as a central depository for jewelry, glasses, wallets/purses, water bottles, phones, laptops, cameras, chargers, papers, just to list a few travel items. Unfortunately, the nightstand wasn't enough and these objects ended up in various places all over the (1-BR-apt) room, raising concern of losing or leaving something behind.
