I like the fact that the hotel was closed to everything that we needed from restaurants, bars and drugstores. The hotel staff were very friendly from the valet attendant to the front desk. Our flight got delayed and they were able to accommodate our check-in time. We understand that parking is an issued around the city but we thought it was expensive for the hotel to charge $45 for valet parking and there are a lot of homeless people walking around. I wouldn't walk around the city by yourself at night.
The valet parking service was too expensive and too slow.
Es war sauber. Der Preis war unverschämt. Die Lage so lala und eher laut. Parken und Frühstück teuer.
This is a simple place with a nice courtyard and pleasant rooms. Nothing fancy but good. Central location. The furniture was a bit cramped for the space.
Service at checking and checkout is outstanding. The desk person was so friendly, offering additional information. That made our stay more enjoyable. Finding ice was tricky.
The inn was clean and it was less expensive than staying in San Francisco. The train is way too close and there are a lot of homeless people and sex workers around. The hotel is located in a strange area that has nice waterfront restaurants but also has a porn theatre and sketchy bars.
No fault of the inn, but if you can't sleep through train whistles all night long, you won't like it. Otherwise no problems or complaints.
Bunch of you kids partying at midnight kept complex awake and management did nothing to resolve matter
Very clean. Friendly staff The price! It was described as a boutique hotel. Hah! A motel without the convenience of a refrigerator and microwave.
AJ was very accommodating and super helpful by getting us ferry times and recommending restaurants to eat. Extremely friends front desk staff. Room was very nice and we were pleasantly surprised to find a microwave and fridge in the room. We go into the Amtrak terminal late and walked to the hotel, not very far but still a little scary. Some people just asking for money.
Good place. Being renovated right now. Call before you book to see if they're finished.
Our trip to jack london was great.the location was perfect there were plenty to do right outside our hotel.rooms where clean and bed where better than expected.front desk was the only down side we waited 1 hours because our rooms where not ready and we gotno apologies. Food next door at the butternut was great
Cheaper alternative to the more expensive waterfront hotels in the area. Great food at the diner next door. Parking cost $15/day. You can hear people walking above your room if you're on the 1st floor.
Comfy Beds, lots of parking, and quiet location. No waterfront entrance and only one entrance into hotel
The location was perfect! A couple steps to the water front where you can board the fairy to San Francisco. Staff was friendly check in and out was easy, bed was very comfortable. room was a tad outdated but was still very clean and nice. Hidden parking charges and fees
Good for folks looking for a quick and quiet stay. The 'breakfast' left much to be desired.
Comfortable beds Not so friendly staff
Older, restored hotel, convenient to bart, friendly, helpful staff The bed was very much too soft, causing me lower back pain
There for the California Bar Exam and the stay at the hotel was pleasurable (more than could be said for the exams)! Polite attentive hotel staff. Well cleaned and comfortable rooms. Location is perfect with uptown a short walk away for business and jack london square a short walk the other way for restaurants.
Very comfortable room and bed, friendly staff, good location near The Fox Theatre and lots of bars and restaurants. No hot water to speak of, wifi only worked for about 5 minutes.
Strange experience altogether. Checkin gentleman was a little uncomfortably flirtatious while the morning staff person at checkout was unfriendly and curt. Elevator out of service and was only offered a free cancellation verses a discount. Incredibly noisy room, awkward layout. At $170 with tax, definitely not worth the overall experience. Would not recommend ot stay at again.
Location was ideal for business, food & nightlife in downtown Oakland. 2 blocks from BART. Rooms are nicely updated while still maintaining old-school charm. Rooms are a bit snug and sink is in bathroom but c'mon people this building is 100+ years old. You're clearly not at a Courtyard Marriott, embrace the history. Surprisingly good water pressure for an older building. I stayed on second floor above the entrance and there was a ton of street noise that woke me up in the morning--trash pickup at 5 AM, loud truck running and pallet unloading for Smart & Final next door at 6 AM. Not really hotel's fault but something to be aware of--choose a higher/rear facing room or bring a loud fan. It was nice they provided it but breakfast was bare minimum. Staff was friendly but staff rushed through check-in as quick as possible. Shampoo but no conditioner in bathroom.
Location Breakfast was weak
The price was great. There was quite a bit of cleanser left in the shower, but it was clean!
Affordable, clean and spacey rooms. Comfortable. No bath, but a nice big shower instead! :) Complimentary breakfast is rather primitive. Saturday night was noisy as a band was playing in the bar next doors (Halloween). Around 1 AM everything was quiet. The rest of the week was quiet as well.
Perfect location. Went to a concert at the fox theater and right downtown. Parking is easy, even on the street is fine. Very safe, Oakland just has a bad rep
-elevator felt a little sketchy; needs some maintenance
Bed was comfortable. Staff was very nice. There were food containers under the bed so can't say they did a good job cleaning the room. The Wi-Fi did not work at all. I was unable to work while I stayed there. I will not book here again.
Very close to great entertainment and downtown. Hotel staff was very accomodating. I was surprise they did not promote the dinner next store
Air conditioner didn't work, no towels or TP in room when we arrived, dirty & train was in front of hotel that went by until 1:30am Leaving
There was no hot water during my 3 night stay The complimentary breakfast was poor The door card did not work at times
Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Door handle didn't work. People living in vans in the hotel parking lot, getting drunk and yelling at each other all night. Bathroom floor was slimy/sticky. Cigarette burns in the comforter Just about everything (dresser, bathroom door, etc...) was broken or nonfunctional. Shower was gross. Toilet didn't flush properly.
Right across the street from Jack London Square. Next to Everett and Jones, Chicken and Waffles and a half dozen other great restaurants.
Location is great. Short walk to Amtrak, San Francisco ferry, next to restaurants & entertainment. Free Broadway Shuttle bus to Oakland BART station No Towels!!! No light bulbs!!! Desk staff said they'd send someone with towels & light bulbs. After repeated calls and promises of help, staff went off duty. Replacement staff said they were out if towels and had no one to help us. Rooms very dirty to boot. Pool in good location but empy
Nice room size, friendly staff, free parking, continental breakfast, great location. Definitely would stay here again Our shower door didn't shut all the way so water leaked out.
Good price. Clean comfortable, no frills room. Attached to a fantastic country kitchen/soul food spot. When we arrived, they listed off everything they'd advertised that was under maintenance: the elevators, pool, gym, and air conditioner. If they had advertised these conditions in advance, I may still have considered it a good deal for the price but it was rough to get all that news after a long flight.
SO FILTHY & GETTO PEOPLE HANG AROUND PREMISES. HORRIBLE SMELL IN & OUT OF ROOMS. WE HAD TO GET $ BACK & FIND ANOTHER PLACE, WOULDN'T HAVE STAYED HERE EVEN IF IT WAS FREE THAT'S HOW BAD IT WAS. SLIDING DOOR IN OUR ROOM TO POOL WAS CRACKED IN 3 PLACES WITH TAPE HOLDING IT TOGETHER. NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!
The location is perfect. The website for the hotel is misleading completely.
Staff (the Hispanic one is good, the black girl was rude) were friendly and does her best to help. 1)The train passes right in front of the hotel, from 6am until 8pm-ish. Blows the horn every single time to warn drivers. 2)Hotel is in serious need of repair. Leaking faucets, damp carpet, ripped bedsheets., bad reception on tv. 3) no ice in the hall way 4) no towels provided until you asked for them
For the price it is so good. Maid service is not diarily
The bed was pretty comfortable. The room looked very new. The smell was very strong -- an odor of the like you get with a new mattress. There should be more ventilation.
No frills, but cost was good. I would bring your own towels, like any hotel/motel they are gross. Bathroom was nice and updated, much space to put your stuff out. TV Location Parking Towels Noise Some people/area/location (shady) You had to be buzzed in and the check in pepilepsy were behind bullet proof glass.
Nice place. newly remodeled, friendly staff, free parking and WiFI
Even before I arrived I was impressed...they called me while I was on the road to inquire about my special needs (ground floor room only), and when I got there the staff was friendly and helpful, clearly Asian of some type but speaking excellent English; and then I got to the room. Amazing! It looked like it was 'fresh out of the box', clean and neat and very well appointed...a desk one can work a laptop at, a firm mattress and plenty of soft but sturdy pillows...and don't get me started on the glass-walled shower. I blanched a little at the price tag but I have to say, in the end, it was well worth it. Next time I visit the Emeryville/Oakland area I'll be staying there for sure!
Cleaned every day. Easy access to downtown. No problems with staff.cheap. It's not super quiet. I hear lots of traffic and loud people cross by the room but it is expected at a motel this cheap. Put the AC on to drown it out.
The bed was really comfortable and the room clean .Housekeeping was helpful!bathroom was cute Poor facilities such as hairdyer .Microwave . fridge....the location is far from downtown but the transportation is convenient.
It was the cheapest I could find in the SF area. The location is very sketchy and we had an unpleasant encounter with a passerby in the early morning. It would have been nice if there had been security.
Very clean, new TV and mini fridge. Wifi worked great. Staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. I was checked in by Kiki (I believe) and she was very kind and professional. After reading some of the reviews online I was preparing myself for the worst, but was very pleasantly surprised. Perfect motel if you're on a budget and need to stay someplace close to the city. Pretty bad location in a seemingly bad neighborhood, but it was surprisingly quiet at night.
Clean room and bathroom
Good location near BART, with easy access into San Francisco. Very helpful staff! Simple and clean, no thrills accommodation
Location and price were ver good. Convenient to MacArthur bart station. The room and bedding were very clean. The room was not stocked with toilet paper. A coffee maker would be nice too.
Inexpensive Bad cleaning in bathroom, no restaurants around
Clean, up dated and modern. New carpets and large shower. Location in the hood. But still was safe. No bathtub.
It's good enough for the price. The area isn't that bad but it's still Oakland. Housekeeping needs to happen later than 11am.
Inexpensive Inn. Good relationship money/ service received.
Good value - clean and comfortable. The area is not that bad. Distance from San Francisco: you have to take a car and pay the bay bridge toll (going into SF only). public transportation (train) is one block from the hotel but it doesn't work eves and night.
The receptionist was rude!! He mistakenly overcharged me $10 yet showed zero apologetic attitude. Plus the towels had eyelashes and dust on them. Terrible experience.
