Location and clean rooms. Wine in the evening reception was nice.
we were impressed with how quickly we went from valet to registration...location was ideal, as we went to the Diamondback Game...very courteous staff both days...we slept till 9 am, we never get to do that with 7 dogs :-) that we didn't stay 2 nights

As always with kimpton the attention to detail is among the best, with it being one of the few places where the toiletries are better than the ones at home. Probably not the best hotel for families with young kids.
Location. It met all of our needs based on the location I They touted a great pool but there was a loud DJ and some sort of pool party all weekend so it was impossible to sit out and relax. Disappointing
Location, cleanliness and staff Nope

Location to Chase Field. no coffee in room
This place was right in the heart of downtown Phoenix!! Walking distance to anything you wanted. No everything was great from the valet to the greeter to house keeping!!
We love this hotel. It's convenient to everything downtown, and offers a great pool/bar, and access to EOS fitness across the courtyard. A small sitting area within the rooms would be nice.
Clean Bad neighborhood
The location is not very good. The hotel is located in an area where there is abandoned buildings all around.
Room was clean, everything worked, good to have a fridge, close to airport and complimentary shuttle to airport is a big plus. Complimentary breakfast not that good. Open campus and transients made it seem unsafe.
Check in was fast, the room was very clean, staff was very helpful. Location
Very close to the airport. Staff was friendly. The bed was huge but very squeaky. I couldn't move at all without sounding like I was getting it on...and I was there alone. They also put me right by the stairs and housecleaning supply closet...it was very loud outside the room most of the mornings/evenings.
price check-out staff member was rude to us.
For a short stay this place was perfect! I was staying for just a few hours to shower and get a little bit of sleep before our flight and this was a perfect place, especially for the price.
the room and bed were comfortable.. breakfast
Nice rooms, nice pool, good security, close to airport, get on the shuttle 2 hours earlier even for domestic flights. Bad location in town, maybe under staffed as they weren't as helpful, breakfast was pretty low quality but edible just enough.
Front desk agent was very nice, room was basic but comfortable. Unbeatable price. Shuttle to and from airport was on time and minutes away. If you just need a bed to sleep in for a few hours between flights I would stay here again. Stray hairs from the cleaning people, also forgot cleaning buckets in bathroom. Sheets had some small holes in them. There is nothing nearby. Took a cab to a better part of town to get dinner. Cabbie warned me this is a bad part of town and I should not walk anywhere as it's very unsafe (6'3" male).
There was a blood stain on the bed cover.
Close to airport. Comfortable motel. The area around the hotel is definitely sketchy.
Booked the hotel and tried to cancel a couple hours later. Priceline spoke with the front desk manager and they refused to allow me to cancel. I understand it's in your fine print but it's just bad business practice to take someone's money when the reservation was JUST made. It's not like it was booked for months and the room was not given to someone else because of my reservation. I am the CEO of a moderately sized company and travel to Phoenix 5-10 times a year and send hundreds of clients to Phoenix. I will make sure no one stays here. Good thing you kept my $500.
The bathroom Very unhappy with trying to book two deluxe rooms next door for our bachelorette weekend. When requested, " Syndey" didn't see any prob. Didn't happen of course!
Large rooms. Comfy bedding. Modern design. Great views of the city. Great breakfast. If you elect not to have maid service, you are given a $5 coupon to use in the restaurant. Parking was $28 per car per night. We parked across the street for $14 per night.
The location of the hotel was great. It was in the heart of Phoenix. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The gym is very small and they were renovating so you could hear work being done and the elevators were really slow.
The Renaissance is close to so many cool downtown Phoenix venues - Valley Bar, Hanny's Seamus McCaffrey's, and Crescent Ballroom. We were able to walk around and had plenty to do all within walking distance.
Stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms. When I got off the elevator to go to my room, I stepped on the thickest, plushest carpet ever. Room was spotless. Lots of outlets on the desk so I was able to keep all my devices charged. All of the staff I encountered were pleasant and helpful. Even the valet, when my car was brought around, washed my windshield before I started out for home. Extremely easy to get back to I-10. The breakfast buffet was wonderful - including lots of fresh fruit and again. Walking distance to Chase Field as well as lots of bars and restaurants. Would have liked to have had a magnifying mirror in the bathroom for putting on my makeup but there was lots of light.
I do appreciate the employees and the easy access to many other attractions. That was nice I did not like the actual bed and the sheets and covers. I must of woke up 6 -7 times. Sheets where not soft. They were hard and loud. The bed was noisy and felt old. Was not a comfortable sleep. Also. This is arizona the air is dry. Maybe giving complimentary waters would be nice. Not charge $5 per water bottle.
The view, the rate, the employees The carpet, the old Apple phone radio
The staff was friendly and I liked the amenities in the hotel. The bathroom was really small.
I needed a place close to the airport with a 24 hr. shuttle service, and one that would allow an early check in. This hotel has wonderful people working at the reception desk,(Donigha?) professional, courteous, and accommodating. A nice beer and wine happy hour and a good menu for dinner and breakfast doesn't hurt either. It is not a 'walkable' neighborhood, but then the Hilton Garden provide s the necessary services, so not a 'deal-breaker'. Proximity to the airport, for the price, in my opinion can't be beat.
Was gone early and back late each day. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I had no problems.
Facilities were great. Bed was very comfortable. It was a low of 32F the night I was there and the heater didn't work properly. I woke up much earlier than I wanted to freezing.
Great hotel with friendly staff. N/A
The staff was very kind and attentive.
The hospitality. The cleanliness. Hard not to like anything.
Comfortable n cleanliness No comments.....
I liked the quality of the bedding and the bed itself which allows one to adjust the firmness/softness of the matress. The room is uniquely decorated and expecially comfortable for male guests.
Clean facility, could definitely tell its newer. Well put together rooms. Handy computer room which helped me book a return flight home. $15 for a mediocre cheeseburger. Small patio area, small pool area. No continental breakfast but instead a $14 breakfast buffet. Stuck us in a room next to the elevators which shook our room every 10 seconds all night long.
Staff were not friendly .... injured myself while there and would not allow me temporary use of a wheelchair. Nothing in the vicinity of the hotel really.
Semi clean room Nothing open past 12, very much lack of knowledge of there "hotel" hour of operations, never had an opportunity to enjoy like food but like everything else there is somthing more rhat will stick with people at Tucson, for a life time
Location, Clean Rooms, Excellent Beds, Good Internet. Homeless Begging right outside front doors.
The room was clean and comfortable It's funny that the only memorable and helpful staff are not upfront. Reception is horrible...H O R R I B L E!! This is the only reason I would never go back.
It was a great experience from the front desk to the easy check out. Not really a factor if you're not a weekender but parking is truly disproportionate to the amount of rooms in the hotel. You will find that out the hard way if you find yourself staying on a Saturday night.
Customer service was great!
walking distance to anything downtown; very clean; friendly staff; excellent bed no free wi-fi???? $17 parking????
Had tickets to diamondbacks game. Close place stay. Breakfast was okay. Didn't care for turkey sausage.
staff friendly location shuttle service started at 7AM. - doesn't help for earlier flights bathroom had lots of wear and tear; especially tub/shower requested extra supplies via Kayak but didn't receive them upon check in.
The beds were torture. Not only were they hard, the springs were poking through. Also, we paid for queen beds and got doubles. The breakfast was a joke: it was in a tiny cramped little room and was gone every morning we went down. Worst of all, we were constantly bombarded by the extremely loud noise of elevator machinery. Seriously, it was impossible to relax there.
The people in the hotel were very pleasant and very helpful and accomodating. There was a noise in the hotel that started after 9:00 pm and was gone by the time I woke up. I did not complain about it because it did not keep me awake. When it was time to replace the towels my washcloths were not replaced I had to ask for them.
Good location, enough parking space, very friendly personnel and they helped in all questions, breakfast
Nice and filling breakfast, wifi and business centre to use printer, nice pool was great as it was close to 90 some days. Short walk downtown and PCC. Hotel manager let us keep room until 5 pm as we had a late flight the last day...it was great to start the long journey home refreshed. We will be back next year. A bar/restaurant would have been nice but luckily downtown was close.
Convenient location to convention center and major highways. Breakfast was not the greatest. Though internet was free would have preferred high-speed wifi.
Close to Dodge Theater and restaurants. I was told at check in my reservations had been canceled. Luckily they had two rooms for us.
Everything. Roomy, clean. Nice breakfast. Great deal. Location.
Hotel was extremely clean and nice, and most major venues were only about a mile walk away, would highly recommend.
convenience to the ballpark
The facilities were as expected, close to good restaurants. No.
Great historic building that fit in right in the center of downtown. As it is a historic property, the lobby was marvelously refurbished with its marble surroundings. Rooms were extremely clean and comfortable and the style is wonderful. Close to everything in downtown including the light rail, bars/restaurants, sports arenas, and nightlife. As it is a historic property only valet parking available which may inconvenience some but wasn't a deterrent for me. Room service limited to a few hours daily.
Friendly staff, great pool, very well kept hotel. Please fix the ice machines that were broken on each floor. And a second working elevator would be great, the past two years I have stayed there only one worked.
Location The room was clean, but the electrical was scary. Best was hard and saggy in the middle. I amenities in lobby. Not historic just old and neglected.
Location & price. I was given a room key for a room that was already occupied. Then, the guests on my floor (3) were loud all night, as if there was a party in the hallway outside my door.
The pool deck was gorgeous and the staff was nice. The location was okay but still a little sketchy. You can hear everything. Every sneeze or soft whisper from other rooms. The windows let every street noise in.
I don't expect much when it comes to amenities, but the bathroom didn't even have soap. Like, so I could wash my hands. Both elevators were broken the entire time too
The staff was very friendly and pleasant. The rooms were old and small. Yes, old building, charm, history, cool, but in the heart of downtown Phoenix in this modern age, you can update your buildings to keep the old charm and still allow for the enjoyment of modern conveniences. A hotel is a customer service oriented business and the building itself is crucial to the customers experience. Our room was very small but ok, could be livable with the right amenities. Very few outlets so tough to charge up computers and phones. None in the Bathroom! None! So I had to blow my hair dry in the other room. The bathroom had a huge sink but zero counter space. So what was the counter put my toothpaste, make up, hairbrushes and such on while i got ready? A toilet seat. Yup. No counter in the bathroom. It had the charm of an old place with the type of tile but so much of the tile was chipped and the paint peeling away from the walls it just felt old and dirty and run down. The drain in the shower didn't work well and I was standing in several inches of water while I showered. No room to room AC so you were at the mercy of how cool the people at the hotel wanted to keep the place. In AZ its 100+ all the time. I bet our room at night was 77 degrees or more. We were sweating and it made sleeping tough. We probably will opt for a more modern place just for the AC and clean feel next time and be willing to pay a higher price for it.
great location, friendly staff Bathroom
The history of the hotel was pretty cool. The room was very small in comparison to newer hotels.
The Hotel San Carlos is a fascinating gem out of the 1920s. Great for the history buff, someone willing to try something unique for a lifetime memory. The staff was considerate, always helpful, and very friendly. I had no complaints. Would stay there again. (Plus, the bath towels have to be the largest ever made...the size of beach towels!) Thankful there were lots of close restaurants. The Vietnamese restaurant was outstanding. Realize that costs and parameters limit what can be done for historic landmarks, but carpeting needs updating, wall art (movie star pictures, etc.) could be updated. And...would be great to receive a handout of all the special floor 'tourist points' or history. Ended up going floor to floor to read everything and see everything.
Location would be great for business travel. Great historical hotel with interesting Hollywood history. Very family friendly roof top pool & sun deck. Downtown Phoenix doesn't have much to offer for family fun. The bar directly below the hotel is rather loud until the wee hours.
Not a high end hotel but very quaint. Staff were very nice and the place was very clean. I will be returning!
The front desk lady was extremely rude to start. Absolutely zero parking although the add indicated parking is available. We had to PAY for parking and walk 5 blocks in the 110 heat. No breakfast. The bathroom door had no lock. And, the kicker is this morning I have little bites all over me!
it was not too far from convention center the bathroom light was not bright enough too dim
The new paint and carpet is nice, but the bathtub should have been replaced also. Very comfortable for the low cost downtown. Parking is tight due to the construction.
exellent staff-really help, good location-6 blocks from downtown, not expensive, free parking and continental breakfast, really working free wi-fi, close to convention center.
The location was great, the price good and the renovated rooms superb value.
Microwave defect, no coffee machine, room needs renovation.
really nice and clean. Certainly it is well located in downtown.
Low cost LCD TV would have been nice
Clean and spacious room. Free shuttle to/from the airport. There is no elevator. I have to carry a heavy suitcase to my room in 2nd floor. There is no free breakfast typically found at this kind of hotel although there is a restaurant. Wifi was not working.
It is close to the airport with free pick up and drop off for a late arrival and early departure the next day. Comfortable and clean, it was a great place to recharge and still affordable.
Provided what I requested, a room with refrigerator on first floor quiet side of building. Nothing
Room was well-appointed with desk, occasional chair and luggage rack. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. The bathroom was clean. There was no free breakfast. Breakfast was available in an attached restaurant that was mediocre at best. We ate both dinner and breakfast there and the food and service was adequate. Had there been other restaurants in the immediate area, we would have gone elsewhere.
Very friendly staff. Very comfortable beds. A lot of the vending and and Ice machines were out of order. We didn't need them..but it was Phoenix…HOT!
Fine bar, restaurant and smoking area.
We had an early flight the next morning so decided to stay at the Best Western Airport Inn because it was fairly close to the airport & to our rental car return. The rooms were fine, everything in the room was standard and worked for what we needed. There was a pool and washer & dryer facilities onsite, but we didn't use them - seemed fine though. We were put in room 231 which was in a corner next to an "Employee Only" room (maybe some kind of laundry room or work room). The only problem with this was that something made a really loud buzzing noise. In the room the buzz sounded like it was coming from the wall - it was as if some sort of generator or loud water heater or something would kick on for about 4 minutes, then off...over and over. ALL NIGHT. The noise would start out as a hum, then get slightly louder, slightly louder, until finally it would be a full out buzzing then a clinking noise and it would shut off. It would be off for about 4 minutes, then start back over. If you are a heavy sleeper or really tired I'm sure you'd have no problem. My girlfriend finally just put some ear buds in so she could pass out. We didn't try to get our room changed because we had unloaded all of our things in that room and by the time we got back to rest from dinner (and noticed the noise) it was past 11 pm. The next morning when we went to check out and mentioned it to the man at the front desk he said "well you should have changed rooms" and offered nothing. I didn't expect a free room by any means, but an apology for the inconvenience would have been nice customer service. Aside from that, there is no elevators & the WiFi didn't work.
I just needed a place to sleep and go on my way it was perfect. The staff gave me good info and told me where to have breakfast and find a walmart. Nothing to complain about
inexpensive my room was 100 yards from the highway and walls are thin their airport shuttle took over 30 minutes pillows are horrible
Proximity to airport, attached restaurant, free parking for 14 days
Has airport shuttle, affordable Hard to find parking
Over all our stay was great. We were only at the hotel for one night after a late night flight. We had no complaints at all.
The room was clean but had no wastebaskets. Toiletries provided were lotion, lotion and conditioner. The plumbing produced lots of noise when I or the room next door tried to take a shower, and the water was only lukewarm. Breakfast was pretty good compared to other Super 8s I have stayed at.
Close to the downtown area. Within a few minutes walk to ballpark, arena, and convention center
Our overall stay was decent. Quiet, never any interruptions. What I didn't care for, the pool was absolutely disgusting. After taking a shower, we discovered our feet were dirty. We discovered it was the carpet making our feet black! Also dropped some jewelry between the bed and night stand, reached down to grab it and pulled back a handful of what appeared to be cookie crumbles..upon further review there was tons of food crumbs, some hair accessories and other items, that were not ours.
Staff was friendly. This was the dirtiest room I have ever stayed in. The carpets, doors, comforter, even one of the towels were dirty! The continental breakfast was a joke, and there were only 3 tables with hardly enough room for 6 people to be in there at a time. The neighborhood wasn't very nice, but I was trying to find something cheap within walking distance of the convention center. I walked it, but it was a bit of a hike. You get what you pay for, and at least I didn't pay much.
Bad Wi-fi condition, breakfast with minimum menu. If you are looking for relatively cheap accommodation, it's fine, but I still think I overpaid.
Air condition; bed, micro, fridge, it was clean A small stand up shower stall. Cold Water was hot. Bathroom was most small -uncomfortable. Breakfast left much to be desired. Staff was okay though could have been much better. Available channels were most limited, and a black line divided the screen. Wouldn't stay there again.
Good location to bars/venues. Owner really nice. Very basic hotel, but clean and convenient. No frills (i.e. restaurant, pool, shop). Although central location, close walking distance to nice areas, not very nice area itself.
Friendly staff, in walking distant of Symphony Hall and other downtown venues and restaurants
Decent deal clean good price hot water . Not bad , not 5 star but it was 36$ tax included so
The room was a complete DUMP! Ripped chair, and old rotten food in the refrigerator. I was afraid for my life, and that I would wake up and my car would be gone...
It's close to where I'm going The location is creepy
Nothing First, when I went to go check in the clerk made me wait for like 10minutes while she counted her drawer. Then she received a phone call and was helping the person on the phone while I just stood there. No apologies or acknowledgement afterwards. Second, the facility sucks. Lastly, at night I went to dinner with friends when I returned there were bikers cover the entry way, there people out fighting and smoking. My friends feared for me staying there by myself so I ended staying at their airBnB. I am currently on my way back to motel to get my stuff and run out of there.
Price Close to the airport Almost all of the surfaces were sticky! Stains on the pillow cover. Noise of the adjacent highway! Noise of the 18 wheelers that park there. Homeless people around there.
Closeness to the airport. Very dirty. Very rundown. Extremely dodgy people walking around the hotel at all hours of the night. Loud from the passing interstate. Lots of places where your car might be rocked. Women of loose morals knocking on the door very late and offering their services. Stay away!
I liked that I had a bed for the night. I didnt like the fact that it appeared that the motel was used as a discreet place for truckers to meet prostitutes and that I felt like I was going to be robbed at any second.
It was cheap and staff were friendly. There were a lot of lingering people at all hours. Someone called our room at 1 am. The second night someone knocked on our door after midnight. Overall, a very sketchy place.
nothing dirty sheets, crappy pillows - you had to dodeg the pimps and drug dealers to go to and from your room
Very friendly staff and security. Very shady-looking people hanging out around the motel at all hours of the night. Not a good neighborhood. The room did not have a fridge to keep your food/drink cold.
The lady at the reception desk when we checked in was fantastic, very sweet and super helpful. She is the only reason we stayed in this disgusting motel and didn't immediately go back to Flagstaff. We would have been a lot more upset and probably would have left demanding our money back had she not been so kind to us. The lady who worked the evening of March 15, 2015 deserves a raise! The lady when we checked out was also nice but was unprofessional and more concerned with what was on her phone. Overall, we did get what we paid for I suppose. The location was super convienent, it was 10 min or less away from everything we wanted to do. Just glad we only stayed for one night. I will also admit that the bbqs by the pool are a genius idea! A familiy staying there was bbq-ing up a storm and it smelt AMAZING. haha The hotel resturaunt was also actually really nice! The room was disgusting. Utterly disgusting. Cheetos stuck to the carpet, all of the trash cans full, all the towels were damp, no toilet paper, used soaps, dirty mirrors and counter tops, smelt like dog pee, cigarette burns in the sheet/bed, beds were super questionable, pillows smelt mildewy, and only half of the outlets worked. We ended up using our clothes for pillows and ended up sleeping on top of the comforter just because we didn't want to sleep inside. The most staff seemed overworked and underpaid. The rest seemed lazy. And by internet they do not mean WiFi, they mean a tiny computer from the 80s in the lobby... That may or may not work.
I like the speed of their internet I didn't like the staff response to me as a new guest to the hotel, The room was not prepared ready for me despite the fact that a room had been booked and paid for much earlier than my arrival date, The first room gave to me reflected a bad impression of the hotel from a new guest point of view which made me regretted my booking the hotel online that night. Although the room was changed to a better one later.
Quite cheap and once you are in the room, it is clean and agreeable. Internet very good. The area is scary. The hotel grounds are completely dilapidated. It makes you think that the rooms will be terrible, which is not the case. I did fear for my car all night though.
Flies, broken everything
The bed was soft and big, the bathroom was recently remodeled, the room overall was clean, and the Wifi speeds were awesome compared to other hotels I had stayed at in Phoenix. My $20 deposit was refunded immediately upon my checkout, with receipts to provide proof. 24 hours later and my bank reflects the refund as well. While the area was not the best, the staff was vigilant and provided security for my entire stay. The room did have the smell of old smoke as though it hadn't been non smoking the entire lifetime. The location, it is close to the Airport, no doubt, but it's in this odd ghetto ring that surrounds the higher class area directly around the Airport. I would not recommend talking with the crackheads (yes they were crackheads) or the "bangers" that roamed the area, but as long as you kept your wits it wasn't more than a slight nuisance. To be honest, I will probably stay at this hotel any time I have to travel to Phoenix.
they did not have a key for my door if i left out they the staff would have to let me in
no toilet paper, no hot water, everything from the towels to the curtain was stained with blood. it had a horrible smell, and was so sketchy that the hotel DIDNT EVEN HAVE A SIGN IDENTIFYING IT. I felt extremely unsafe staying here, and I am not easily scared. I even heard knocking on my door in the middle of the night.
Nothing Everything rude staff very scary looking people wondering outside. Didnt seem safe for solo travel or a family.
I didnt even stayed at this hotel as soon as i when into their parking lot i went right out. Its trashy and its ghetto, i went in uniform and some guy told me i was brave to go into that place in uniform thats when i just took off.
Luckily had clean sheets and cable. Thats it. This place is DISGUSTING!!! Rude and unprofessional staff who are not very knowledgable about the job they are doing. Very rundown, outdated, litttered with "unpleasant" guest, if they even are guest there. No ammentities at all. They don't even supply hygiene items. Found rat traps under bed. GROSS!!! That manager Dan is a real piece of work. Had five day stay, received no room service to clean the rooms daily. The housekeepers have got to be drug addicts. Banged on the door 25 minutes prior to check out, then had the nerve to make me wait 30 minutes to actually check out at the office. Please someone take notice and shut this place down. Embarassment to small businesses everywhere.
