Plus: "The food was delicious. I have never had better airplane food. The movies were super new and interesting. I did not have time in the 11 hours of flying to watch all the movies I wanted to. The flight was also incredibly smooth."
Minus: "There were a few small things that could have been better (Which I'll mention), but the worst thing about the flight was the airport. Ataturk Airport is a mess. After the attempted coup, they really upped security, forcing all international flights to go through a second security screening after transferring from another airport. It's understandable but the line moved at a molasses-like speed when I had only 25 minutes to make my connecting flight. The security personnel were rude, as well. Also, when I went to make my connecting gate in Cairo, there was no one at the gate after the required boarding time (Because security had held us up), forcing some of us to board the plane without having anyone to show us onto the plane (Very scary). The flight boarding was chaotic, and no announcements were made about what we were supposed to do. Besides the lack of boarding gates, the only other serious complaint I had against Turkish Airlines (Because it really was great overall) was that the pilots and flight attendants were very hard to understand. I have taught ESL for the past 5 years, and I still had a hard time as an American understanding their English. Also, they frequently didn't understand or misunderstood questions that I would ask them. I've never had a hard time understanding flight attendants on an international flight, but I only understood about 20% of what anyone said over the loud speaker in the plane. And it's nice to be able to understand when the pilot says, "We are experiencing some turbulence and would like everyone to buckle their seatbelts until it passes." Two small things remain: 1. The bathroom trash cans were full on every flight (A small thing but makes everything feel "trashy"). 2. The flight attendants seemed unhappy, and they definitely seemed unhappy to be serving us. I can only assume they are that way because they aren't treated particularly well by their bosses."

I definitely did not expect such good treatment on such short flights. I really got the impression that they are trying hard to keep the quality of their services as high as possible. I really recommend these guys."

Minus: "The flight left late from Marseille, further diminishing the 4.5 hours I had to catch a flight on another carrier. The flight circled the destination and was then diverted to the second Istanbul airport, where we refueled and waited for another hour. People from the back of the plane rushed to the front of the plane while we were still taxiing on the runway at Ataturk, all to get to the front of the line. The crew was passive the entire time. Upon exiting we were herded onto busses (thus taking away the supposed advantage of those rushing the front). When finally in the terminal, I had to go through customs, purchasing a visa (for a country I did not want to visit at the time), and reclaim checked bags. I proceeded to the other carrier's counter, to be informed that the gate for my flight onward was closed. As the ticket was "promotional" I lost that ticket and had to purchase another - on Turkish! Also had to spend a night in a Turkish hotel, also on my dime."
Plus: "This was my first time flying with Turkish Airlines, and I had a great experience. I travel internationally a lot and it has been by far the best airline I have been on. I love flights that give you a hot towel when you arrive, so that was a big plus in my book. The flight stewards were so helpful both on and off the flight. The food was delicious. Movie selections were freat ad well."

I along with other passengers were stacked in dorm style non barricaded rooms in 1.5ft wide beds like animals. It was in total poor taste. Half the Turkish Air employees I approached at the Airport for help with directions and clarifications were dismissive to the point of being obnoxious. Walking through the airport, all I could think was what a disorganized and hard to navigate airport it was. It was an unpleasant experience and I will never recommend Turkish Airline to anyone. It was my first Turkish air, and it will be my last."

Minus: "The Frankfurt airport is an embarrassment to Germany. Taking buses to your plane, going up and down stairs to depart or board a plane is archaic. Therefore most Lufthansa flights in and out of this main hub are delayed. There should be some rule that meals will not be served to customers who have their seat reclined. The poor person behind them has no comfortable way to eat."

I wanted to check in online but I had to no reservation or ticket number is provided so I had to go to my old reservations to find it. .Next I wanted to pay for my luggage online but there was no link given. It says you can do it cheaper on Lufthansa.com but I could not find where you can actually do that. All in all spend 30 minutes with no result. Had to pay at check in $44 instead of $27. And it was just one of many other problems and inconveniences with their website."

Plus: "We are guessing they either overbooked or they didn't have sufficient passengers on a Tuesday afternoon who's final stop was Glasgow. They rebooked him for 1200 the next day. DFW to MN, St Paul to Schipole, Amsterdam to final destination, Glasgow. So he ends up having to pay for another Lyft back to our apartment in Dallas, then another additional one for the 12 noon flight the next morning. If he didn't have family living in Dallas, he would've incurred a hotel fee too."

Minus: "Was not informed that checking in online is the only way to secure a seat. So, regardless of whether you book your tickets 3 months in advance or the day before, you're not actually guaranteed a seat unless you check in online. We weren't told this until we were at the airport and checked in there that we might not be able to get our pre-booked in advance flight because of over-booking from KLM. We then had to wait and see if there were seats available when boarding. Luckily, there were, but we were not sat together. Not the greatest start to our first holiday together as a couple. We were told that if there weren't seats available, they'd pay for us to get to another airport to fly out, which would have meant a huge delay on the only time off we'd get together this year and have to rearrange our pre-booked and pre-paid living arrangements for the week. All because there wasn't a lot of emphasis on the need to check in online before hand. You'd think if someone checked in at the airport, that would be more of a guarantee that they'd be flying with you that day, but apparently not. Definitely not impressed or happy with this part of the KLM experience. This is the only company that we've had this problem with, they should make it clearer that it is essential to check in online."

I then missed my next flight in Istanbul and had to purchase another ticket. I cannot believe that air passengers are treated in this way!!! I will follow this up with KLM when I go home from my holiday."

Whether it's her personal opinion or KLM's policy, it's unreasonable to think that a 3 years old child could or should hold her pipi over 20 minutes, while they slowly and inefficiently trying to give out food. Several parents were there with the request to let us through to the toilet with small children and she smiled in our face and said "no, we will finish first and than you can go". She might be not fit for the job anymore, but KLM can't afford this kind of treatment."

On top of it, one female officer was rude. Typical french :("

I had to stand for about 50 minutes, either on the crowded bus or, after climbing with great difficulty three flights of stairs to a high jet-bridge (I am 76), standing there forever with 200 persons waiting to get access to the plane. Totally unacceptable. They started the boarding process early (50 minutes before departure), but passengers were allowed to actually board the plane at the time it was supposed to take off."

We were told that it was just a half an hour delay by the man that was informing us of the delay and then we were then told by a woman that it was going to be over an hour. We weren’t told any specifics of why the plane was delayed, other than: “ the engineers are looking at the issue now”. We received messages saying that the flight was cancelled but then we were told to ignore that. We were told that we would have an update every 10-15 minutes but by the time we had the next update was 1 hours later, we were told that the plane will depart at 15:50- which we did. But we also sat on the plane for an extra 2 hours or maybe even more (couldn’t bare watching the time at this point) because the man that was supposed to push the plane backwards in order to reverse the plane didn’t turn up so we then had to wait for all of the other planes to take off before we could. Eventually the plane set off at 18:20 and I got in France 19:30-20:00 ish?"

Boarding in Warsaw was chaotic - no announcements it just sort of started, I was in Zone 3 but there were only lines for Zones 1 and 2. The usual Central European pushing into the line. Flight was nice, smooth and good service. Leg room is limited but that is to be expected on any airline and flight. Would fly LOT again happily. On time, Captain made regular announcements. I arrived safely, as did my luggage. Can't wait for the direct service between Chicago and Budapest."

Minus: "LOT is not an airline that impressed me in any way. When I flew from Los Angeles to Warsaw, my bag was weighed, and I was told it was over limit. This, in spite of the fact that I weighed this bag on a calibrated scale prior to entering the airport, and my luggage was 5 pounds BELOW the limit. This seemed a blatant attempt to gain additional money from me, because I know the bag was not overweight. The food selections were average at best. Leaving Warsaw traveling to Los Angeles, we left almost an hour past our original scheduled departure do to the need to obtain additional supplies. On my next trip to Europe, I will look for alternate flight providers."
