I was telling a friend today, Swiss Air started with drinks, gave us a Parisian baguette sandwich, gave us a healthy breakfast of yoghurt warm croissant butter jam orange juice, drinks again, and several passengers surrounding me got special attention, one woman with a baby, a disabled person, and a teenager that was 6'5" was relaocated by the flight attendant without him even asking to a bulkhead seat for more comfort. You don't see this kind a attention to detail on any US flights or US airlines, so I noticed it. It was as if I was traveling back in the 70's or 80's when Airlines would compete for our dollars with their service. I mentioned to my friend that if I had a choice and Swiss Air was one of the choices, I'd choose Swiss Air over any other airline."

Plus: "We had two flights with Swiss and the first one left half an hour late, meaning we only had about 10 minutes to connect to the next one. Instead of sprinting through the airport, a man was waiting for us immediately outside the plane. He got our luggage right from the cargo, drove us to another man who stamped our passports, and then drove us to the plan just in time for takeoff. It was incredible service and everyone was super friendly. We so appreciated them making sure we caught our connecting flight!"

Minus: "I am not unusually large but it is clear that the seats on your planes are completely inadequate for anyone other than a child. There is no possible way for anyone who isn't seriously sedated to sleep or even sit for any extended period of time in what amount to slightly cushioned coffins. I literally spent an hour in the toilet trying to fall asleep because at least in there I had room to extend my legs. At least in there I could actually breathe (the ventilation system is totally inadequate for anyone sitting near the windows and results in horribly stuffy and uncomfortable air.)"
Plus: "Business class was full so I could not get an upgrade. There were only 4 lavatories for economy. One of those was broken and there was no water in any of the 3 remaining ones. The crew had no water either and they could not make tea or coffee."

Worse quality beef on a flight ever, and that's hard to do. In my 1.5 million miles flown, these were the least comfortable, cramped seats I have ever experienced. I am only 5'7", 150lbs, but for the first time ever could not reach my belongings in the under-the-seat space in front of me. Seriously, it was that cramped."

När väl ute fanns bara 1 service desk till hela planet, jag kunde åka hem och sova och skita i vouchers men de som behövde hotell lär ha väntat halva natten. Det enda som var ok var att de svarade snabbt på telefon följande morgon - men meddelade inte som man sagt den nya bokningen via sms eller mail!"

Passengers were divided in 5 lanes, depending on their seating area withing the plane (for a more efficient boarding, I presume) but, by the time we all got to the actual aircraft, we formed another queue in the boarding bridge so it didn't feel like any time was saved or anything."

As a result we had to wait until all the passengers got off the plane to get back our luggage and we were the last two passengers to get off. Unpleasant!"

Minus: "Where to begin? During the booking process, there was no indication my travel partner and I would be flying Air Canada, and not Lufthansa. We were seated in the last row of the plane with painfully little legroom — even for two women of relatively small stature. The plane was not equipped with modern conveniences of operational wifi, music, or any other means of entertainment over the ten-hour flight. We were nearly an hour late to depart, but were unable to hear anything over the speakers regarding the cause for the delay, nor could we hear any of the flight attendants' safety instructions. What we could hear, however, was the surprisingly loud and nearly constant DINNNGGGG of the passengers' call buttons as they summoned the flight attendants. Because the flight was an overnighter, we attempted to sleep, but it was nearly impossible to do so due to the noise. I had earplugs in and could still hear the chimes, which were positioned right above our seats and made for an unpleasant experience and cranky travelers. The food was subpar as expected, but it would've been nice to be surprised with something resembling a fresh piece of fruit or vegetable. The flight crew was polite and one of the attendants took pity on us and offered a complimentary shot of whiskey, which partially alleviated the discomfort of the experience. That man is a saint and we surely hope he is better taken care of by this airline than we were. Overall a miserable experience. Will definitely rethink flying both Lufthansa and Air Canada in the future."

In the big room by the gate there was only one spot where I found three electrical sockets hanging from a pillar or post. To my dismay none worked. My plug would fall off from each. To document, I took the pictures of the useless sockets... I complained to the lady at the boarding desk (she left before the SAS staff moved in), she did not even care... This experience frustrated me and turned an otherwise pleasant trip into a bitter one. Please install some working sockets in your waiting room! Minus: "As with most airplanes, the air was quite cold, but the SAS blanket adequately made things a bit warmer. I'm always puzzled by the fact that once business class and SAS plus passengers board that SAS Go passengers can all then board. It would make more sense to have people board from the back during this time so that people don't block aisles and it makes arranging overhead baggage a bit easier."
Minus: "I was really disappointed at finding out at luggage check-in that I had to pay extra (£60.00) for my one regular-size suitcase. On the return flight I was told that this amount would be - as it turned out in my case - less than half, if I called SAS a day before departure. Why did I have to pay for the checked luggage at all?"

Minus: "My American partner's passport expires 2 months after our return to the US. Unfortunately, the French issued a year ago the following rule: to enter France, the foreign passport must not expire at least 3 months after the return date. British Airways let us fly to London, explaining this to us, how it would be on us if there were problems further down, and that we would have to get our luggage in London. We chose to fly thinking it would be OK, we had listened to an online person who had had the same problem and the French later told him they would have let him in, also I am myself a dual citizen of France and the US, plus I am autistic, an invisible disability (in my case) that makes it impossible for me to travel alone. I usually do not even say it since not much is understood -by those who do not have it- on how to accommodate it However in London BA did not allow my partner to go on. Due to the fact yesterday was Easter Monday, the American consulate in London was closed. We have spent the night in a nearby motel and now, the next day, I am waiting alone back at the airport with our 2 large suitcases while my partner is at the American consulate. We are poor, do not have phone, currency or charger for England, and I do not do well with stress, so it is difficult. Now we cannot easily reach one another. We hope to be able to fly on a standby basis (that's what BA told us we could hopefully do) later today. Sorry for this long letter, I hope it does not bore whoever reads it (if it is even read :). No thought to wipe bottom before handing it to me. Everything about them was a lack of attention and asking for assistance was a bother. Food so so. Not impressed. They sold me a legal connection but my bag missed it. Landing disorganized. Busses to terminal took to long given we were 10 minutes late."

Plus: "Because of a sudden mobility problem, for the first time ever I requested mobility assistance. I assume your personnel providing this assistance are some of your lower paid. Their assistance in Bangkok, London and Manchester was fantastic; I wish I had recorded the names of each helper so I could praise them individually. They smoothly got us through check-in procedures, delivered us to boarding gates. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble to them. They made what might have been an unbearable trip totally trouble free. Thank you all."
