Amsterdam når du via Amsterdam Schiphol flygplats, även ofta hänvisad till som Schipholeller helt enkelt flygplatsen i Amsterdam. Flygplatskoden är AMS.
En resa till Amsterdam kostar ungefär 100 euro (1000 kronor). Vanligtvis är det billigare att flyga direkt än att mellanlanda och detta är naturligtvis också det smidigaste alternativet. Ja, det går att flyga direkt till Amsterdam från både Stockholm och Göteborg. Från Stockholm kan du flyga direkt med Norwegian, SAS och KLM. Från Göteborg kan du flyga direkt med holländska flygbolaget KLM.
Förutom SAS, Norwegian och KLM, som har direktrutter till Amsterdam, kan du även resa med bland annat LOT Polish Airlines, airBaltic och Air France. Dessa kräver dock att du gör en mellanlandning under resan.
Flyg till Amsterdam landar på Amsterdam Schiphol Airport som är mycket lättnavigerad och dessutom ligger nära stadens centrum. Om du bokat hotell för din vistelse kan du därför snabbt ta dig till ditt boende om du bor centralt. Även om du inte bor centralt är flygplatsen sammankopplad med tåg- och bussystemet vilket gör att du snabbt kan ta dig till vilket område i Amsterdam du än bor i. (Priser kontrollerade, 09/04/2018).
Nederländerna har begränsat inresa för resenärer som anländer med flyg utanför EU och som inte är medborgare, innehavare av uppehållstillstånd eller innehavare av viseringar för längre vistelse i EES-medlemsländerna, Schweiz eller deras familjer. Det finns undantag för vissa särskilda fall, t.ex. resande som går på begravningar eller studerar vid en institution i Nederländerna. En fullständig förteckning över undantag finns här. Från och med den 1 januari klassificeras inte brittiska medborgare längre som EU/EES-medborgare och får inte komma in i Nederländerna. Dessa begränsningar gäller inte brittiska medborgare som är lagligt bosatta i Nederländerna. Nödvändiga resor är fortfarande tillåtna. Resenärerna kommer då få återvända in i landet, men måste uppvisa uppehållstillstånd, ett ansökningsintyg eller ett dokument med sin adress och kan bli föremål för förhör av de nederländska gränsmyndigheterna när de anländer till Nederländerna. EU:s icke-väsentliga reseförbud har också upphävts för invånare i Australien, Japan, Sydkorea, Nya Zeeland, Rwanda, Singapore, Thailand och Uruguay. Den nederländska regeringen har ett färgkodat system med länder och regioner med hög risk (orange) och lägre risk (gul). Resenärer som kommer från högriskområden eller länder (orange) måste isolera sig i 10 dagar vid ankomsten. Turisterna måste följa alla de åtgärder och regler som gäller för att bekämpa spridningen av coronaviruset. Turister måste också boka semesterboende innan de reser till Nederländerna. Den 16 juli tillkännagav den nederländska regeringen ett ytterligare undantag för utlänningar som har långdistansförhållanden med nederländska medborgare/bosatta i Nederländerna. Icke-EU-medborgare som för närvarande inte är bosatta i eller fysiskt vistas i EU är fortfarande föremål för reserestriktioner och får inte resa till Nederländerna för turism.
Från och med den 15 december måste resenärer som kommer från ett land som inte finns med på EU:s förteckning över säkra ursprungsländer och som är undantagna från EU:s reseförbud för Nederländerna uppvisa följande dokument: Ett officiellt negativt COVID-19 PCR-testresultat utfärdat inom 72 timmar och ett snabbtest högst 4 timmar före ankomst och en ifylld och undertecknad negativ testdeklaration. Barn under 13 år är undantagna från kravet att presentera ett COVID-19-testresultat. Utöver de befintliga kraven för resenärer måste resenärer från Irland, Storbritannien eller Sydafrika även visa ett negativt resultat från ett snabbtest (antigen- eller LAMP-test) eller PCR-test. Testet måste ha genomförts högst fyra timmar innan du går ombord på flyget. Resenärer måste ha tryckta versioner av både det negativa testresultatet och deklarationen. Det är inte godtagbart att visa en digital version på en telefon eller surfplatta. Testkraven ersätter inte kravet på självisolering under tio dagar efter ankomst. Barn under 13 år är undantagna från att presentera ett COVID-19 testresultat.

At least in there I could actually breathe (the ventilation system is totally inadequate for anyone sitting near the windows and results in horribly stuffy and uncomfortable air.)"

I managed to make it, and would not have had I waited another hour in line. Why no surge of staff to help? All 3 help numbers on my Lufthansa e-mail receipt could not help. Horrible experience."

När vi landar så berättar de att bagaget inte kom med. utan väskor så åker vår grupp till hotellet. Det hemska var att besättningen ljög istället för att berätta och informera på ett bra sätt. When we debarked from the Austrian Airline onto the tarmac and picked up our luggage, I could find no signs indicating where to go for connecting flights, nor any signs indicating the gates of connecting flights. I was told that to make a connecting flight, I should go out to the main lobby of the airport, At the information desk they directed me to the Air Canada check in desk, where I found the check-in for my flight was closed. That was the the beginning of a nightmare chase to get to the plane to Toronto. I made it only because of the kindness of people in the check in, security and customs lines. Austrian Airlines should be kinder to its passengers making connecting flights. They seemed to abandon us passengers in a chaotic airport."
