Very comfortable, cozy bed, with quality mattress and bedding. Great location. Speedy, polite left-luggage service. Way too intimate a space for two people unless you're really, really close. And even then you better not be claustrophobic or have a lot of stuff. You could practically touch all four walls standing in the middle of the room. The bathroom has a not-sealed or soundproof, sliding frosted glass door, like a shower, with no privacy whatsoever. Snotty eye-rolling wenches with attitude at the front desk on check-in, but extremely nice gentleman at check-out almost made up for it.
Clean, good location Not enough elevators, pretty loud at night
Clean, compact and great for an overnight business trip You have to request an iron and ironing board ... other than that, it's fine.
Great location, yes the rooms are small hence the name Pod however you're in New York, you're not really spending much time in them. The rooms are very modern and the shower is great.
In a city where 3 star hotels are above $250 per night, POD 39 rises at a fenominal location, with modern clean and fresh look at a fraction of the price.... Staff is excellent and the rooms are small- cruise ship size, but that's a great compromise for the bvenefits you get... HVAC system was great and the shower is the best ever.... Some of the electrical outlets didnt work and could not be fixed..
We loved the layout of the room, the cleanliness, the speed of the elevators. Even staying directly next to the elevator wasn't a problem. Staff were very nice. The glass wall separating the bathroom from the bedroom is a big problem for us. I can't think of anyone I'd be comfortable staying in this room with. If I were alone, it'd be great.
Location Everything other than location
Great shower and comfortable bed. Awesome location. Very small. Needed one more mirror and had a great place on the empty wall above the desk. Peep hole in the door had been pushed out and was filled with toilet paper. Bathroom sink was clogged up and wouldn't drain even after maintenance supposedly fixed it. Didn't have extra rolls of toilet paper and had to go to front desk to request more. Also no ice machine. Had to go downstairs to the bar and they looked at us like we were crazy when we ask them for a cup of ice.
location, honesty of one of the staff telling us not to eat there. e-mailed me one price, when I got to hotel, quoted me another price.
Great location, at an NYC cheap price. The room got completely dark at night. I couldn't hear much noise from the street or any noise from other rooms. The hotel itself was well kept and I felt safe. The comforter on the bed was only mostly clean, and the door to the bathroom was dirty also. You can clearly hear whatever is going on in the hallway, even when your door is closed. The bed wasn't sower comfortable.
I really enjoyed my stay at Pod39. The hotel was very nicely decorated, definitely a "trendy" hotel. I know they have many room options - I stayed in the bunk bed room which was very small and New York-like. The beds were really comfortable. I would most recommend this place for people traveling alone or with a small group (although the bigger rooms might be good for families - there is a bar/restaurant attached to the lobby, though, so keep that in mind). The price was quite good for an NYC hotel, and the location was great - I was able to walk to all the Broadway theatres as well as Koreatown near Herald Square. Also fairly close to a subway station and Grand Central. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would definitely stay here again! The room was so small there was no ironing board - I didn't ask the front desk what my options were because my clothes weren't that badly wrinkled, so there may be a way to get your clothes ironed. It's not that big of a deal, really!
Nothing Up all night with bad radiator. Phones did not work or they did not pick up. Rooms are old and dated. Elevator takes forever. $52 for a basic continental breakfast. Go to a diner
Location was great Elevators were impossible. Had to wait upwards of 10-15 minutes for an elevator to reach the 10th floor, every single time we used them. Actually opted to take the stairs a few times to save time. Toilet in the room ran for almost 5 minutes after every flush. We were locked out of our room at 1130am, 30 minutes prior to checkout time. The "breakfast bar" in the hotel lobby had nothing but coffee and 2 bananas left at 10am, with no other options provided. We did not get a receipt at checkout, either, nor was one emailed to us. And lastly, we waited for almost 30 minutes for our car to be brought around at checkout because the driver was waiting for the doorman to call him to come around (which he did as soon as we came outside).
Everything was pleasant except the amount of external noise you can hear in your room, both from inside the hotel halls and the street noise. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Excessive noise from external sources
Extremely small rooms. Loud air conditioner. Needs work
In general the staff was nice and accommodating. In particular the concierge named Aisha (spelling?) was extremely kind and helpful. The room was clean, and got the job done. I would stay here again as it was a great value and location. My 'Cosy Queen' was pretty small. If I had another person sharing the room, it would have definitely been too small. But for myself it was fine, but not for the clastrophobic!
It's located near major attractions and it's the room assigned to my family and myself is a good size room. That it did not include continental breakfast
The bed was very comfortable. Yes I was just surprised by the sheer number of things wrong. As we walked in we both thought. This is beautiful. As we checked in I was told I booked a king bed and I stated I booked a double. I showed the woman ( name omitted) my reservation and she said that a double room just means two people. Fine fine my mistake, I moved on. When we got to the room the heater was making a noise that sounded like an animal was in it. The shower frame was not attached to the wall, the shower door had no way to pull it closed from the inside, the shelf in the bathroom was slanted downward, as was the top of the toilet tank so nothing staying on it. I am a normal sized woman and I was I a difficult time getting dressed in the bathroom due to size. Check out is st noon as in many hotels, at 9 there was a knock on the door. When I answered it the cleaning staff was there and asked when I was checking out. I told them 12. At 1049 there was a knock again, the same staff member asked when I was leaving. Now you may say did you say anything... I tried. I tried calling twice ( was only there one night) no answer and wentdownstairs countless times, but as I was on a quick fun trip I didn't want to waste time. I was just surprising disappointed my my stay and it was compounded when I checked out and then checked into my next hotel, that for only 30 $ more, I not only had the amenities of a " normal room, I was actually given a premier room with a view, corner ceiling to floor windows, A kitchenette, complimentary unlimited filtered water, complimentary breakfast and a staff that was above and beyond. All of this just a few minutes from the roisevelt.
Checked in after a long flight from Australia at 11pm. Room was not made up and bathroom was disgusting. Went to receptionist who allocated us another room - same result. Demanded a refund, and went and checked in at the Westin. Very disappointed.
I went with my girlfriend and her 17yr old sister. Everything was perfect. The front desk personnel were more then accommodating and the room was beautiful. the hotel itself was great. I couldn't have asked for anything more!!
The location for the cost is imcomparable. I will definitely put this on the list next time. Front desk and bar staff were not service oriented. Bar prices are... well... it's NYC.
I liked the location and for the most part the room was clean and the bed was nice. I didn't like how most of the hotel was not updated and the valet service took a while.
Good location, nice lobby, Good complimentary toiletries Bathroom small, outdated, with no space to lay personal stuff. Floor seemed to be dirty. Carpet very dusty on the edges, corners and behind the bed. It looks like the housekeeper doesn't have a canister vacuum to reach those places. Bad smell coming from moldy air conditioner. Front desk didn't respond our calls, we ask for a coffee maker to the bell man but they never brought it. We called the bell man for somebody to bring us the kart but they never came. Overall staff is friendly but not efficient.
Clean and modern bathroom, plenty of room for a nyc hotel room. The purified filtered water on every floor was amazing! The terrace was lovely.
Easy check in and check out - all on a computer. Nice staff, perfect location for business on the east side. My window was open the whole time and I couldn't figure out how to close it. The heating was VERY loud.
Hjälpsam personal i reception.
Bara positiva saker. Ventilationen mot hotellets baksida utanför hotellet lät.
Nothing. Third party booked stay then went bankrupt. No email or advance notice. Hotel receptionist extremely rude and antagonistic. Not enough decency to offer comparable rate to alleviate situation. Never again.
Great location, comfy beds Initial room was unmade, shower was clogged, but issues were rectified immediately when brought to their attention Wifi is not free
Hotel stay was right on point after a long day thanks
only bad thing was the small rooms other than that it was good
Near to Grand Central Roadside noise was too loud
FYI the rooms are real real small. Didn't bother me.
Elizabeth in housekeeping was a tremendous help in getting bedding and towels for us!!! She was pleasant while we were all very angry about the bed situation. Thank you Elizabeth! Long wait for checkin. Need more staff at front desks. I reserved a room with 2 double beds for 4 people. I called twice to confirm and reiterate that I wanted 2 double beds. At checkin I said I needed 2 double beds(this was at 1:30pm) Receptionist said yes I see that is what you requested. I was told room was not ready and they would call be about 3pm when room was ready which they did. Again, a long wait for receptionist, she gave me keys to room which had a king size bed and pull out sofabed!!! I called front desk to get a room with 2 double beds as I requested and they said they had no more and because I booked with a third party (travelocity) they could do nothing about it as rooms are not guarenteed (bed types). I am angry about this situation and will rethink ever staying at a Westin hotel and I will also rethink about using travelocity.
Nice efficient hotel and very conveniently located. The room was of okayish size. The attached washroom was rather awkward - can't lock the door and the wash basin was too small leading to water spilling all over the place. One day the room could not be cleaned and when we complained, the manager himself came for the apology and also offered compensating action which was very nice of him.Elevators are quick. Washroom
Very close to the subway and Grand Central Station. 24 hour luggage storage after checkout and the staff was very friendly. It is on a busy street due to the location and you can hear some traffic from the room but it wasn't too loud, especially for NYC it wasn't too bad.
Easy access to Grand Central and in the heart of NYC.
Everything works. Very efficient use of space. Nice restaurant downs stairs. GREAT location across the street from GCT. No front desk to speak of. Off putting at first, but it works well.
We thought the place was clean and a good value for the money spent. It was an excellent location. Room was small but we expected that in NYC.
Nice staff Generally clean Great Restaurant A great basic hotel for someone on business by themselves who does not need many extras. No real hotel lobby Machine coffee No real concierge Very small room for a couple with 2 suitcases No real breakfast (snack bars put out)
A lot of street noise and elevator noise from my room Are there any Whitehouse options?
The 27th floor lounge
Have stayed before year ago - it was lovely: Private Terrace on front Front desk clerk Dirty carpet and bathroom Loud loud air conditioner Terrace useless due noise of airconditioners Lumpy uncomfortable bed
The best beds!
The bed was fantastic and the room big for NY standards.Bathroom was good and because we were one of the first all was very cleanLocation good just around the corner of 5th anvenue 46 street. When we came it was just opened and some starter problems, handshower didn't work rooftop not open yet, but I'm sure it all will be fiixed and perfect in no time, would book it again for the rate I got.....hope it wasn't a beginners rate
Clean rooms, basic but of a good standard. Nice having a balcony albeit with no view to speak of. No real bar in hotel. No twin bedded rooms but very large bed.
Nice Astrosphere.. Close to the theater district.. Room was Pose. Like the fact they held our bags while we roamed the museums after we checked out. Wish it had two chairs in the room, the bed was too soft and to low hurt our backs getting in and out of it. Wished we could get more than an continental breakfast from the hotels' restaurant.
Staff were courteous, helpful and polite. Really enjoyed coming back to the hotel to a Glass of wine- nice touch! The Hotel is almost ready to receive guests! Bulb missing in bed side light 201. bad batteries in most of the smoke detectors, and plumming making tapping noises in the evening. The staff was very kind, prompt and courteous in dealing with the problems.
Balconies Hot water wasn't working, apparently in most of the building, just my luck
Location is very convenient Bed was not confortable, toiletries and towels not replaced accordingly.
the design of the hotel and rooms and its location THe shower ran cold for about 10 minutes. Also it was plumed wrong. the hot markings were freezing and the cold one was hot.
no hot water for shower one morning (probably ran out). Refrigerator broken. Very small gym. expensive. Great location. Clean. Good housekeeping. Friendly staff. We requested a quiet room. We were worried when it turned out to be next to the elevators. Sure enough, the room was quiet.
Good location Beds a bit uncomfortable and some problems with ac and tv
Fantastic location if tourism is your goal. Atmosphere is glamorous and sexy. Friendly, helpful staff made us feel at ease. The bathrooms are oddly dark - this is an issue if you are someone who spends any considerable time and effort applying makeup.
We were walking distance to Times Square and the Broadway shows. The customer service was top notch. Loved the atmosphere and the decor. Two drinks at the bar cost about $40! The elevators were very slow, small, and sounded like we were at risk of being stuck in transit.
Location is perfect. Bathroom was almost bigger than the rest of the room. Air conditioner didn't work first day. Called when we first got to our room and they told us there is a sensor that activates it when you walk in. We came back late that night and it was still 80 degrees (thermostat was set at 64). I called down, someone said they'd send someone up. About 30 minutes later, nothing. I called back and they said they were switching shifts and the manager was looking for another room for us-they'd call when it's ready. I stayed awake 45 minutes longer, and packed up most of our stuff, still nothing. The next morning we went downstairs to try to get our a/c fixed and they sent the engineer up. We came back later that day...it was fixed. It was pretty uncomfortable sleeping in 80 degree humid room. Disappointed that we didn't hear back that night to get it fixed. After the first miserable night, it was fine. Lobby is very dark! No view at all. No room service.
We took the train into the city a group of 8 people and we were able to walk to the hotel and to out Broadway show as well as the restaurant we had reservations at. Perfect location two blocks from time square. The lobby of the hotel is amazing and all of the employees are friendly and helpful. I liked everything.
No food service and the champagne was extremely expensive at the bar but the room was clean and comfortable. We absolutely loved the bathtub and the staff was very nice. Nice hotel for a romantic getaway. Wouldn't recommend for families
We loved the location. We were in New York and we were extremely close to all of the things we really wanted to see while on our vacation. Or if we weren't close, we were a short subway ride away. Beautiful hotel, very clean, and very quiet. We were concerned about the possible noise from the New York streets, but we couldn't hear a peep. It was perfect. And the soaking tub in the bathroom was amazing! I want one in my own home! We were very comfortable. My husband thought the whole hotel was too dark. Especially the lobby. I would agree to say that the lobby was very dark, but I didn't really mind it. It wasn't like we were going to be spending a lot of time in the lobby anyway. And another thing; every day we left our "Do Not Disturb; sign on our door because when staying in hotels we worry about our things disappearing. But one of the days we came back and our room had been visited by housekeeping, so we quickly looked around to make sure all of our things were accounted for. And thankfully, everything was there. We were happy that the staff was respectful of our things, but we were confused by the fact that the sign was still on the door and they came in anyway.
had everything we needed, but spent little time in the room lighting was very bad in the bathroom, not nearly enough to put on make-up
The location is great. Close enough to walk to Times Square, the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Grand Central, and lots more. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful and there is valet parking if need be. There isn't any room service available.
